I came across this recently, a new flea market starting up in a few weeks time. [url=https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Auction-House-Dubai/603513852999160?fref=ts'>link[/url'> ETA no idea how good it will be as it's a new one but it looks promising. <em>edited by Di@DXB on 28/07/2013</em>

Does that not give you an opportunity to explain why your services are superior? I would use it to my advantage and present the 'lesser known details' about the business. If you know which competitor it is you can even allude to why you are superior and they will soon stop. if that is not sthg you want to do, just ban the user! Don't make an announcement or anything just quietly banish them. HTH Thanks, yes I just logged in and found another stupid comment so I found the ban button and have banned her. Let's hope that's the end of it. Thanks all for the advice.

Add a new post mentioning that you do not appreciate particular competitors posting biased criticism on your page and that since you cannot ban them, you will continue to delete their post. Do mention that genuine questions and feed back from clients and fellow businesses are highly appreciated . Yes, I did think of doing that, it would reach the offender but I just wonder how it affects the tone and vibe of the page for others, I like to keep my page very friendly and interactive. Its a toss up I think between tolerating the abuse or keeping things in line.

To OP, yes it's rude and unethical. Simply 'ban' the user from your page - problem solved. Or if you don't want to ban them, add them to your 'limited profile' list, and put your settings so that they cannot make comments on your page. Oh that would be useful, where do I find the 'Limited profile' feature and how to stop comments on a business page? Sorry I have no idea how that works.

I would think if you went back to the exchange at least, when you return and tell them about the incident it would not escalate against you since you are not carrying the money anymore. Perhaps email them from where you are first and inform them of the inconvenience, stress and loss you have been caused by their lack of scrutiny.

That's very disturbing, it could have got you into a lot of trouble if you had tried to exchange them back here. I was given fake dollars by a bank in the UK once, it's really scary, no idea what the consequences would be here but now I always keep my exchange receipts to show where I got the currency just in case. Have you been back to report it?

@ marink thanks for the encouragement :) @ SD I do delete the comments. It does not deter the offender though and I suspect she is using other profiles too besides the original one. @ celticcavegirl, I haven't yet found out how to ban someone on a business page, (it's there on my personal page) it seems be missing on biz pages, any idea? Not that FB savvy so I may be wrong.

A telephone conversation with a well known organic store when I wanted to ask if they had a product I was looking for. Not wishing to waste time asking the wrong person who could not help, or so I thought, I rang- Her: Hello. Me: Can I ask you if you have a particular product? Her: Yes ma'am Me: Oh good, so do you have XYZ in stock? Her: I do not know ma'am Me: But I just asked you if you would be able to tell me! Her: Yes ma'am, ask me Ma'am. Me: I just did ask you! Her: Yes Ma'am, you can ask me but I do not know! :S

The way facebook works if you are in the same field the chances are the same people will be reading both your pages anyway... True, but is it really ethical to pose doubts on another business" ideas? facebook and ethics don't often appear in the same sentence lol so it seems, but to me its just plain rude anyway. yes it is but unfortunately it's very difficult to prevent this sort of thing...I know of a local business lady who has had practically her whole business copied - products, style of facebook page, the lot... Can't you report that kind of thing to FB?

Are the auctions any good? No actually that's the first I heard of them, so no idea and I think its a new venue. But it looks interesting.

That's appalling! Write to the media too, and post this on all the social media printed press pages as well. They should take up the story and hopefully that will help push someone to do something about it.

If you don't find a plastic falcon you could make a cut out one with a sturdy sheet of plastic, draw a falcon shape on it and cut it out and hang in on a string around the pool area, you could make several and they would look quite decorative too. Or even feather shapes would work too, basically anything that flutters will scare the birds away humanely.

You can adjust the volume on GE and Panasonic microwaves. Really helpful when LOs are infants. Oh thanks so much, off to look for one, do all their models do that or just some of them do you know? I have been asking in the stores and no one knew of this even the sales representative for the brand!

I have a maxi skirt which needs taking up where do good alterations? If it's just the hem then I'd recommend going to the one in Ibn Battuta Mall if that's near you, they are quick and inexpensive for basic alterations. Down the service corridor off from New Look.

Never mind the racket of a microwave, you should hear my washing machine, can't use it at night, when its finished it plays a really loud tune. I really don't think they have made a micro that is quiet, mine beeps reminders even after its stopped, really annoying. Good luck.... I don't know who designs these things, but could not be a woman, we would think of sleeping babies etc and have options to silence noisy appliances.

Daiso have the kind you press on like an old fashioned hotel desk bell, might be easier than having to pick up the handle type bell for an elderly person. hehe I got one of them to tell DH when it's time to refresh my glass. :-P I was so tempted to get one, but feared it would be used in the reverse to what I intended! :)

Bblue, sure you can ask. During menstration, a woman is cleaning her body, doctors now will even say that there are many health benefits for this cleaning as it removes a lot of bacteria and other things from the system. To pray, you must wash yourself. Hands, face, feet, private regions etc. during your period your body continues to bleed out, so you can never clean that area as even if you wash it it will have blood on it soon enough. But the period itself does not make a woman a filthy thing. Just gives her a chance to refresh. That's a lovely and 'refreshing' way to look at it! :)

Actually I think the forum is relatively tame these days, I recall no so long ago when there were some really vicious flamings and one very new member was driven off in tears never to return after a string of personal insults against her nationality and culture for expressing a dislike of the Wiggles! I am glad to see that this sort of nasty personal comment is very quickly stamped upon by the mods. And I do agree, that sort of thing is totally beyond of the spirit of the forum. <em>edited by Di@DXB on 22/07/2013</em>

I don't think its all the mind for everyone, its possible to have the will power to do it, as I did, and yet end up very ill at the end without having given up the fast. Sometimes the mind is willing but the body is not.

If I thought I could put it behind me and move on I would comment on one of the facebook photos 'Looks like fun :) ' so they knew that I knew and there were no hard feelings and no awkwardness. If I couldn't put it behind me and stop seething and wondering I would speak to the the party host directly and say 'I was just wondering if everything is ok between us as I saw you had a party and we weren't invited, I hope I haven't upset you'. It would be a bit awkward to bring it up but at least then it would be over and done with and you'd know. edited by Daza on 20/07/2013 Daza, always the words of wisdom. Whatever the reason for them leaving you out, best to move on and look for new friends. It's hurtful to be the only one left out like that, but try to see things a little differently. We are often disappointed by others behavior when we build expectations that they do not fulfill. Not saying it's your fault for expecting to be invited but if you had not you would not be hurting now. Expect less from friends and they will never disappoint you, then whatever comes will be a pleasant surprise. Hope you find some nice new pals. <em>edited by Di@DXB on 20/07/2013</em>

Does anyone have an update on the floods? I'm planning to visit ibn batuta tomorrow morning? Is it advisable? Or are there still long jams? TIA You could check Emirates 24/7, in the morning, there are live reports from people who live there, at the moment it appears to still be impassable in parts of the Gardens and jams at the only remaining entrance/exit to the Mall. Here's some more footage, it looks pretty deep, and I hear from someone there that a man was forced to get out of his car when it stalled in the flood last night and got scalded by the hot water, but there seems to be no news on his condition now. I hope to heaven there was no one in the basement parking when the waters hit too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCUNlEqOslY
