There's a lady at ARTE markets who makes really lovely ones, she could probably do a custom design too if you needed. [url=http://www.facebook.com/BoutiqueDeHauteCouture'>link[/url'> edited by Di@DXB on 25/05/2013

Thanks amandshaks and Sue, will try the Organic store, I would have got a breadmaker machine but I don't ever eat bread, just looking for some for my visitors who are really fussy about ingredients! Otherwise its going to be a case of "let them eat cake"

Di@DXB, you can buy the breads with the yellow labels, has ingredients on it as well at the "Lusine" brand. But these are not the breads they sell freshly baked. Thanks, is that a real wholegrain type of bread without white flour or sugar, and where is it sold? I buy my bread at Geant, but I'm sure you can buy it at Carrefour as well. L'Usine is an Almarai product and found this link where you can see what's in the bread: http://www.lusine.com/bakery.aspx#Title_15 The yellow label brad has a nice dark rye bread with seeds in it, it's my favourite. Would not know about the flour type to be honest but worth a look. Thanks, I see they list the nutitional info which is useful and I see it has sugar, fat of some kind ,again not specified what fat it is, and quite high in sodium, I am really after the ingredients list as well though to know what exactly the flour is. I cannot see the actual ingredients listed anywhere on their website either but maybe its on the packet, I will check it out. Looking for a whole wheat grain not a rye bread if anyone knows of one that lists the ingredients would be grateful.

I went to Waitrose searching for decent bread full stop, English or whatever. I have been looking all week for a real wholegrain loaf with the ingredients listed. The problem with bakery bread here is you don't know what you are getting as no ingredients are listed on the in house items. It's not enough to say its whole wheat, even so called wholewheat bread can be just a processed as as regular while loaf. I asked the bakery in Waitorse about what kind of flour they used in their wholewheat bread, whether it was 100% whole grain or a mix of white and if it had any sugar, high fructose corn syrup, colouring or preservatives., They had absolutely no clue and none of the breads baked there had any labeling. Is there anywhere that sells a real wholegrain wholewheat loaf with an ingredient list? I really wonder why this state of affairs is allowed, they need to enforce some regulations on the lack of labelling like most countries where you would not see bread with zero information about what it contains. edited by Di@DXB on 24/05/2013

Oh my! That must really sting in the winter months :( Indeed and besides it does not encourage people to be more energy conscious when they know they are going to pay whether they switch it off or not.

This is getting even more confusing, first you posted a thread to ask if anyone knows if Castalia skin products are any good. Then you posted on a different thread recommending Castalia skin products, and when this was pointed out to you you said you never tried the skin products. And now you are recommending them again on this thread! :S http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/topic206218-skin-care-products.aspx http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/topic206164-any-good-remedies-for-pores-on-face-.aspx

There could be a flat charge regardless of usage, in some places such as many of the Nakheel owned properties this is the case. It seems very unfair as it does not take into account the winter months when the cooling is unused. So your bill may not be your actual consumption. Maybe this applies in your case. If you are charged a flat rate for cooling its probably be way more than your actual usage would incur. I am charged dhs1,200 flat rate for cooling regardless of whether I have in on or not. My actual consumption is dhs300! So yes the bills can be shocking.

Castalia items are very good for pores or for preventive measures for aging They are not really very expensive but very nice results Interesting, you recommend Castalia as being 'very good' in this thread but in the 'Skin Care Product' thread you started about Castalia products you are asking- "But I dont know if their skin care is good or no , anyone of you tried it ? " [url=http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/topic206218-skin-care-products.aspx'>link[/url'> Which is it? :s edited by Di@DXB on 22/05/2013 Yes I wondered this too! BTW where can you buy sandalwood powder from? I have not found it recently there but it used to be sold in LuLu Barsha, they had the red and the white powder on the cosmetic section.

Sandalwood powder is great for shrinking the appearance of pores, you can brush it on dry or mix it with tomato juice and apply as a mask. Wash off after 15 mins. If using dry and leaving it on get the white sandalwood powder not the red one! edited by Di@DXB on 22/05/2013

If you do find the Lemon Myrtle essential oil make sure you dilute it down to at least 1%, it's a very powerful oil and not to be used at 100% neat. It can used at 10% in an alc*h*l base but only for precise spot treatment and it will sting, however no more than scraping or a laser and it does kill the virus wheareas the other ways do not. It is best to begin at 1% , I find its effective even at 0.1% for general antiseptic, antiviral and antifungal use. I have never found it in Dubai though, have to have it brought over from Oz. Tea Tree oil has the same action and properties but will work a little slower than Lemon Myrtle, again it must be diluted and not put neat on the skin or it will burn and irritate. hth

Never seen those, but if you are trying to make flavoured coffee you could grind some cinnamon and hazelnuts together with coffee beans, should work out the same I would think. Might try that myself sounds like a nice flavour combination.

I think if we are allowed to reccommend people we should be allowed to warn others about negative experiences we have with companies or services too. I have just been badly let down by another person who has been repeatedly and highly reccommended on here and seems I cannot talk about it.

Seems the worst possible time to have to do this. Why? I'd imagine the summer would cause the least disruption. More people flying places? July was a peak month last year according to DAA. edited by Di@DXB on 09/05/2013

i thought that the jebel ali airport was always earmarked for non emirates and DIA was going to be only for emirates.... is that no longer the case? Yes but it is currently only cargo from JA, it opens to passenger flights towards the end of this year for Hungarian Wizz Air and Saudi's Nasair. However the divertions from DIA will appy to all traffic using Dubai International during the runway upgrades. edited by Di@DXB on 09/05/2013

Anything over $300 dollars is subject to 5% duty inclusive of freight charges unless it's a luxury item then the rates are more. If it is being delivered to you by courier they should help you arrange payment. I have things come in this way and I paid the duty directly to the courier.

Thank you ladies. I've gotten in touch with all of them. That first one that was posted on an earlier thread was interesting. The first number given is a home number (Got an answering machine saying "I'm not home at the moment...")[b'> and the other two were answered by someone who doesn't speak any English. And I mean ANY! [/b'>However, went with the email and we'll see what happens! Thanks again ladies. Out of curiosity, to those who use such services, do you have them on a retainer or pay on a job-by-job basis? Someone is trying to convince me to go with paying a retainer but I'm just not sure we'll need them all that much once everything is set up. Am I being naive?? We'll have between 15 and 20 staff if that makes any difference. Thanks again. Are you saying that the person who answered the phone at Pan Gulf spoke no English at all either? Because that's not our experience in over ten years of using their services. edited by Di@DXB on 08/05/2013

[email protected] can i find this raw organic coconut oil.....i'm an all in one person....thats all i can manage. How do you use this?? before bedtime? I use it at bedtime as a cleanser and moisturiser and in the morning as a moisturiser. It comes in glass jar, it's at most of the organic stores, and some supermarkets, look on the organic section. I do not find it leaves my skin greasy at all. It completely absorbs. You can use it as a make remover, rub some over your face then tissue off the excess and then if you like rinse out a warm wash cloth and wipe your face. Then I add a little on again as a moisturiser. Leaves my skin so soft and I am sure I am not getting any toxic chemicals into my body. edited by Di@DXB on 08/05/2013

Hello ladies, I've been doing some research regarding skincare routine for my face and I'm going mental with all steps we're supposed to take, clean, tone, moisturize, SPF. Can you share your most effective daily routine? Also I'd like to know if this should be done morning and evening or just evening? Thanks! If you want to take the natural route there is something that does all of that in one. Raw organic coconut oil!

At the organic store a whole frozen organic chicken is 48dhs a kilo. The last one I bought was 1.7kg and was about 83dhs less 20% on the 3rd weekend of the month. Fresh chicken breast is Dhs134 per kg and again 20% off. I tend to buy my meat for the month and freeze it. Was that at Organic Foods and Cafe?

I quite often get text messages with "Saloon offers" and every time I do, I can't help but picture myself strutting through swing louvred doors, wearing a cowboy hat, boots and gun holster, to be greeted by buxom ladies and stetson wearing dubious types, playing poker and blowing smoke from their gun barrels............ That is exactly my mental image too, then you walk through the doors of the "saloon" and it's just a bunch of women with towels wrapped round their heads, kind of dissapointing. :)

To answer the OP, I always just assumed it was a typo... edited by AnonDubai on 01/05/2013 At first I used to think the same but every other salon calls itself a saloon here, cannot all be typos. Now if they served the same beverages it might be justified.
