I think Ripe is fully booked for December too, but I can give your Mum my table at JC on the 8th December if you are interested. The timing is 11am to 3pm, its a very good event but unfortunately i cannot make it now. Hi, I don't know where JC is, but the date and timing sounds perfect. Thank you for offering your table please tell me what event is this and how much is the cost for the table? Its Jumeirah College annual Winter Festival which is always a very well attended event, I do it every year. I can let your Mum have it for free, I feel for her having done all that work, I just need to get the booking receipts to you, so you can locate the table thats booked for me as the tables are allocated.

Don't be pressurised by your MIL, there is no such thing as a 'norm' in any aspect of child development so no one should make you feel that you are not doing things right. Wait until your child understands the concept, you will know when that is and no one else should be telling you. Your natural instinct is right, your child will indicate readiness and that will be the norm for her.

I tried aloe Vera years ago at the height of its introduction as the latest wonder health supplement. I became increasingly unwell with each dose, yet I was urged by the vendor who was promoting this particular brand to go on taking it, she told me my reaction was simply the toxins being removed from my body. After one week I was severely ill and had to seek medical attention, it turned out that I am allergic to Aloe Vera, something the vendor had not considered. As soon as I stopped drinking it I was fine. I know some people swear by it, but I cannot say it did any benefit for me. Since then so many other things come and go promoted as similar wonder foods, everything has a craze it seems and I do not fall any of these fads anymore, just eat healthy and exercise.

Di, is Flagyl not an antibiotic? I think the OP is looking for a regular deworming tablet/syrup that you would give to children on a regular basis (important here as they spenda lot of time in sand) - OP, yes there is deworming syrup available here for little ones, available at all pharmacies. Yes, it is specially for intestinal microbes and parasites http://www.webmd.com/drugs/drug-7644-Flagyl+Oral.aspx?drugid=7644&drugname=Flagyl+Oral

Flagyl is available here for intestinal parasites, I think it covers most of them. Its OTC and suitable for children. ETA it comes in tablets or liquid for babies and toddlers. edited by Di@DXB on 24/11/2012

Not seen cave paper, but there is some crinkled brownish heavy paper in Daiso that has a relief effect, if you painted a few extra shades of brown on it could work.

I think it may be difficult for anyone on the forum to give you a referral as they would need to know you to be able to recommend you to a firm. However I can refer you to this list of law firms that are recommended by the British consulate here, perhaps you should apply direct and not rely on the agencies. Imagine if all businesses ran on that "logic", like a food delivery service for example, you could order a meal but they would not send it to you becasue the ordering system only meant that 'they know you want a meal but did not mean they will send any food to you.' How long would a business like that survive! Lol I was about to say the same thing, but as I always talk about food and relate everything in life to food I thought I'd withhold my metaphor :D Great minds...:)

Their booking "system" is useless or actually worse than usless because when you book and get your booking has been confirmed response you think you have a taxi confirmed, but the reality is, as I was told when my taxi never turned up, that "the confirmation does not mean a taxi will come to you it only means they know you want one." Ludicrous to say the least and wrong too that drivers are allowed to pick and choose and refuse.

Lots of people will be going to Festive fair, there will be dozens of mums and kids there, if you feel unsure about going alone why not go to the Mums and babies coffee morning at the Marina today, perhaps you will meet another mum who would be happy to keep company with you at the fair. If you are new to Dubai and looking to make friends the coffee mornings are ideal.

Now that I'm addicted to pinterest I have a plethora of Christmas ideas but need to know where to buy the supplies. Any suggestions? I'm looking for Christmas paper, foam/stick wreaths, Christmas tree branch/looking long things to wrap and make wreaths. Yeah, stuff like that :) I saw wreaths made from wicker and others made from foam in Daiso, they have some craft paper too and artificial branches and greenery.

You are right to be angry, can you ask your building management to put signs up in the elevators or somewhere where tenants will see them to warn of the danger. Also I would check the fire exits in particular the stairwell, I was in a major high rise building fire here some years ago and was much hindered trying to escape down the stairway in smoke and darkness due to people leaving bikes and boxes on each floor blocking the way out. People are often so careless or mindless or both.

Rug First Aid... This is what the professionals advise For urine on a rug, the problem is much more easily handled if the spot is treated promptly, before the spill is allowed to dry. Blot up as much liquid as possible with paper towels or a clean, white cloth. Try to rinse out as much of the spill as possible. A smaller rug can be taken outside and rinsed with a hose and cool water (try not to saturate the whole rug--it will take much longer to dry if you do). With a larger carpet, the corner or edge can be laid in a plastic dishpan and saturated with cool water or a bucket or plastic garbage can can be placed under the wet area of the carpet and cool water poured through the rug (make a hollow in the carpet over the container before you pour, and don't exceed the capacity of the container under the rug!). Add about 1 cup of white vinegar per gallon to the rinse water--vinegar helps prevent colors from running and will help neutralize the urine odor. After the rug has been rinsed, blot dry and sponge with rug shampoo or with the solution given below. Let dry thoroughly (drying a wet area of a larger carpet can be hastened by arranging the carpet so that air can circulate both top and bottom--drape the end of the carpet across a lawn chair, or put a sawhorse or painted bench under the rug in the area of the wet spot. www.jacobsenrugs.com/clean.htm

We took a LHD some years ago, it did make the insurance more expensive, the other factor with having a LHD in the UK is using a car park ticket entry machine is problemmatic if you have no passenger to feed the machine. I got around that problem by getting one of those extendable sticks with a claw type hand on it to retrieve the ticket, when I poked that out of the passenger window to retrive the ticket I could see people behind me laughing their heads off!

I've been in quite a few taxis which have done this continual soft breaking. At first I thought it was poor driving, but when it was many I started to wonder if the speed up/soft break technique was effecting the meter in some way, as it was so many doing the exact same thing. hum...think you may be on to something there AA!

I have complained to both the cafe of where the staff did not wash her hands and at the outlet in the food court when I saw the food prep guy sneeze directly into the dish he was assembling in the kitchen for my meal, I was so glad I had waited within sight of the kitchen area and saw that. He clearly had the flu and was sneezing into food. Unbelievable.

I also wanted to ask if anyone has tried the "pink taxis" , who exactly are they meant for , I've seen lady drivers in them, I'm quite paranoid about the way the taxi drivers zip in their supersonic speeds, despite the warning beeps. We've requested them several times to slow down but they just Argue that they would be inconveniencing the others on the road!! We ve also complained a couple of times , and we've been promised to be notified of action taken but we have never received any feedback;( is there anything else that can be done to send these drivers back to driving school? I have hired one of those and would never do it again! The lady was panicking on the road and does not know Dubai road well enough. She was breaking every 2 minutes for no reason which is annoying from the airport to Dubai Marina. In general, they are more dangerous than a taxi driver driving like the paranoid on the road. All the people I have talked to have the same experience with these "pink" taxi drivers who need more training IMO. I was driving back from the airport not long ago and was stuck behind a pink taxi, she was doing exactly the same thing, braking uncessarily every couple of minutes, it was really dangerous as lots of cars behind me were backing up.

Hand sanitisers are not as effective as washing hands with soap and water. A recent study by an associate professor at Purdue University who teaches safe sanitation shows that hand sanitizers do not significantly reduce the number of bacteria on the hand and in some cases may potentially increase the amount of bacteria. The claim that manufacturers make of these products killing 99% of germs is designed to be misleading. Note the wording which is used very expertly to make us think that 99% of [b'>all[/b'> germs are killed, but see that is not what they are telling us. They actually only claim their products kill 99% of germs, meaning 99% of a germ is killed but there is still a percentage of the germ itself that is alive. Naturally when we hear the advertising we assume they mean 99% of all germs, but that is the automatic assumption they are counting on us to make. Clever wording designed to mislead that cannot get them into a false advertising complaint!

True. The amount of people out there that don't wash their hands.. Ewww! Yes, I was waiting in queue for a cubicle in Ibn Battuta mall and a girl came out and walked straight off without washing her hands, as she left I noticed her T shirt logo had the brand name on a well know coffee shop printed on her back! Needless to say I do not frequent that particular outlet anymore, really makes me worry about eating out anywhere with people like that serving food. My experience is that many of those from one particular background who are most likely to not wash their hands, always blow their own trumpet about being "clean" the counter argument, which doesnt make sense to me, is that doors are dirty as well, so no point in washing hands and then opening doors Agree, but that particular girl had no excuse as there's no door to open in that restroom, its a angled corridor entrance/exit without a door. edited by Di@DXB on 19/11/2012
