Yes, you have to re-post the whole thing, that's why you see multiple ads for the same thing, although its not allowed everyone does that! ETA I have to add that I don't do that myself, in fact I don't use Dubizzle, tried it once and all I ever got were ludicrous offers or scams. But good luck with whatever you are selling. <em>edited by Di@DXB on 27/09/2012</em>

I avoid creams that have mineral oil or contain petroleum based ingredients, these just clog your skin. If you also prefer more natural ingredients then plant based ingredients and natural oils will support the skin's elasticity. I'm using a natural serum containing Sweet Almond oil, Camelia Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Thistle OIl, Geranium Rose, Frankincense, Neroli and Rosehip Oil, which I find gorgeous on my skin and really effective at smoothing and making it more supple. which brand is this serum? Its made by Dubai based cosmetologist Shirley Conlon, she is an absolute genius at natural beauty products, you can contact her on her FB page.

Check it out on the RERA calculator http://www.dubailand.gov.ae/english/Tanzeem/Rentals/Rental_Increase_Calculator.aspx Txs Di, this is very handy. When I put in the info and calculate this is the response I get: The rent for a Four bedrooms Villa in Umm Suqeim - Complexes is in the range 135000 to 185000 AED per year. Your rent is less than or equal to 25% of the average similar rent in the area. So you are not entitled to any increase of rent. So does this mean LL is not allowed to increase? How do we 'call' him on this? Copy the results out and send them to him, if he still argues consult RERA.

Marble Arch properties may be registered with RERA but are you sure the person you are dealing with is from that company? And as GA said get all relevant docs and check them out.

Thanks ladies - I know, I think a lot of people (myself included) lack patience sometimes, and it's something I'm working on to stay calm when I'm being harangued by the 7th Financial Advisor of the day calling me or whatever! I guess for me, there is a certain code of conduct when you're in a 5* hotel and because we frequently are over here, people forget how to behave. If we were in the Irish village or somewhere casual I wouldn't even notice (altho rudeness to waitresses is not acceptable ever). I hate the fact the Al Qasr brunch (over 550aed a head!) is [b'>such a bunfight with women dressed in designer outfits elbowing each other for the last lobster tail[/b'>! Only in Dubai! :D

Russia taking the lead and banning some US GM food stuffs..... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2208452/Russia-suspends-import-use-American-GM-corn-study-revealed-cancer-risk.html That is just a foreign policy ploy! There is nothing cancer causing about genetically modified foods ... [b'>aren't we all genetically modified in some way?[/b'> How? Only if we were conceived using genetic modification or had certain gene therapy for disease prevention. Unless you are going with the theory that the human race was genetically modified by by aliens, but that's not been proved either.

You can go in and register anyway if you want to preserve that number, [u'>you don't have to wait until they sms you.[/u'> Hi, did anyone do this already though? How was it? I'm waiting for the sms from Etisalat. I would guess its going to take the same amount of time it took when we first bought the chip, ie waiting in queue with number, making photocopies of passport and ID. and filling forms.

So if I already have a du card I need to register it now? Have they sent you an sms telling to go re-register yet? I'm not quite sure. I don't use the du card much. Bought it a while ago when our Internet wasn't working and it was an easy and temporary fix. I suppose I'll just discard it. You can go in and register anyway if you want to preserve that number, you don't have to wait until they sms you http://www.thenational.ae/news/uae-news/deadline-set-for-uae-mobile-users-to-re-register-sim-cards

This is TRA initiative isn't it ? Yes, and we all have to do it with either DU or Etisalat for any type of phone. They are both supposed to be sending out sms in a rota to advise us when to go in to re-register.

I posted about this earlier. A fellow from Qatar, who had travelled to Saudi, had it. I believe it's the first time that SARS has originated in the Middle East. A bit of a concern because I doubt the health systems here could cope with a major outbreak. Also it's Haj next month. Yet another thing to add to the [i'>'what do you worry about'[/i'> list posted earlier on here [img'>http://www.thedarktower.org/palaver/images/smilies/scared.gif[/img'> That's what I thought of too when I read the news, thousands of people from here go to Saudi are exposed to very close contact with millions of people and then come back into the community here before knowing if they have been exposed.

I'd like to know to where we are supposed to report these moonlighting maids, is there a number? I know there's one for illegal workers but would like the contact to report the ones who work outside of their sponsors. Anyone know? TIA I think the main thing is for people 'not' to employ them full stop that way they can 'only' work for their 'official' sponsor. The thing is I don't employ them but likely they just go on and find someone else who will, there needs to be a more immediate deterrent to stop them even approaching people for illegal work. I get at least 4 or 5 a week at my door asking for PT work in my home and dozens of strips of paper too. I'm sick of telling them no and often the same ones come back, I'm sure they are sponsored by neighbours and if they felt risk that their numbers would be passed to the authorites who could give them a warning before legal action I think it would help nip the whole problem right in the bud.

Unless I'm reading it completely wrong, the piece doesn't say you can't bring a case against a developer at all. It says you'll no longer be able to use arbitration if you want to pursue a case against a developer - you'll have to file in court. As I understand it, DIAC is an arbitration centre where claimants can bring in an external arbitrator to hear their complaint against another party with the other party's consent and agreement to abide by the arbitrator's decision. Property purchasers have been using it to settle claims against developers but this recent ruling means they'll now have to use official court channels instead (which I think cost way more money, funnily enough, and that money goes to the court coffers instead of to arbitrators' pockets!). You could well be right, if this means arbitration may not be an option in future, and official legal action maybe the only way for those who can afford the massive legal cost that is, while arbitration was a much easier way for most people. Effectively this amounts to the same thing I suspect leaving no realist legal avenue for many.

is there any mechanism to pass on a property? If they enforce this new ruling on inheritance It appears to me that it is still a speculation of how property inheritance will be impacted based on the logic of the ruling already issued . Yes, it appears so far the part of the judgement that related to foreign wills is subject to further interpretation. The nullifying of rights of property owners to file for cases against developers appears to be the part that is confirmed.

Why on earth would they pass such a law? It will only harm the real estate sector further by putting off any sane investor or end user from purchasing here. Is it because they think by quashing all these cases against developers, the disgruntled investors who lost loads of money will just go away quietly? By blocking any avenue of complaint? It doesn't make sense. And how does a property not constitute wealth? Surely this will add to people wanting to sell up and cash in on their properties since if anyone were to die, this would not be included in their will?? Very odd. You hit the nail on the head! Exactly right, may seem illogical and odd but serves a lot of purpose to developers. As you say what can anyone one do if there's no legal mechanism.

I have not read the article as in a bit of a rush this morning but is there any mechanism to pass on a property? We did buy property here:-( If they enforce this new ruling on inheritance the mechanism will be automatically under Shariah law rather than according to any will you may have set out.

Yes its a bit heavy reading, but it what boils down to, I think is. If you buy or have bought a property here and have not received your satisfaction and or legal registration of such from the developer there will now be no legal avenue to take action. And secondly if you have a foreign will it may not be permitted to be applied on property you own in Dubai. Reason given is that these isues do not fall under the jurisdiction of 'wealth' as defined by Public Policy law. In the first instance its a technicality of the law that has been applied over these matters to relieve developers of any comeback. In the second case re the wills this is a complete turnaround of what foreingers have been permitted up until now and will impact how we may pass on our properties under local law if applied. None of this is going to enhance confidence in the real estate sector I would think.

Just expect all the drivers to drive like idiots and you'll be fine. It is recommended People don't seem to see me in the Tida so I drive with my lights on to make sure they do....although they still seem to think that they have precedence. Are you new to Dubai? lol no. Just haven't driven a small car here for 5 years. Forgot how scary it is. Sadly there is a tendancy of bigger vehicles to bully smaller ones on the roads here. I drove Tiida for a year too so know how you feel. Got someting bigger now, this attitude forces us to buy larger cars than we need I think.

Being bombed out of their beds. Although the night before last I had a very vivid dream where I was thrown out of bed and against the wall by an earthquake. [i'>I must be on a different planet because for the life of me I can never imagine this happening here or even think about it as a possibility.[/i'> And if you were in bed and dropped on you wouldn't have to worry about an evacuation plan would you? Far too many reading hyped up nonsense with biast from various parties. Register with your embassy and carry on life as normal! I was in a hotel here when exactly that happened, no place is immune. But I think that is less of a fear right now and I would be more concerned about difficulty being trapped with ports closed and not finding life sustaining essentials such as water and food in any event. Wise to have a plan, register with embassy and have some emergency provisions.

The last I know a few months ago was it is open from 7am to 9pm if you mean the Tasjeel Al Barsha. The Tasjeel is where you register/MOT your car the one next to it is the police station that registers your licence. They are 2 separate buildings with 2 different timings Yes I explained that below when I realised it was for a driving license not a vehicle "[i'>Yes its near the vehicles testing centre, for driving licence you go to the police station which is on the left just before you reach the Tasjeel vehicle test area. I have renewed my driving licence there without ID recently. I am not sure of the exact opening hours of the police station but would think it should be open as early as the vehicle test centre at least. [/i'>"

Try assist.ae or 800GETME They will collect and bring to you for about dhs30, it will work out cheaper and easier than the taxi and metro. Di, do u mean this as a delivery service? Problem is i have to be there in person to get he insurance forms signed Yes its a pick and delivery service, so if you have to be there it will not be of use unfortunately. ETA unless they go get the forms bring them to you, you sign and they go back and collect, but that would of course cost double. Still only about dhs60 and you will pay more than that in a taxi both ways from JLT to Jumeirah. Maybe worth considering. <em>edited by Di@DXB on 24/09/2012</em>
