In our experience problems came because the moving company here did not have their own offices in Australia, they subcontracted delivery to a local agent. When our container arrived in Oz the local agent told us he had not be paid for port charges, handling or delivery to our address although we had paid the Dubai company door to door inclusive. The main advice I would give you is only use a compnay that has its own branch office there to eliminate any such confusion. Our entire belonging were held hostage for weeks while this was sorted out.

Wonder if its also illegal to refuse from the mall pick up point? I was about to get into a taxi at the head of the MOE taxi queue and he asked where to, when I said he drove off in hurry actually slightly running over my foot. I tried to take his number but he left too fast.

You can post your exact logo and website requirements on Crowd Sourcing and get lots of different submissions from many designers around the world for the project without the usual risk of paying one designer up front and ending up dissapointed and out of pocket. With this website you don't pay anything until someone comes up with what you need and if they don't you get your money back. http://www.designcrowd.com/crowdsourcing?gclid=CMyYmdaIwrICFUXHtAod9CcA_w

You will find psyllium husk in the health foods shops. Not sure about glyserine or do you mean glycerine, that is available in the pharmacy and some supermarkets. ETA You could also use lecithin as a more natural alternative to glycerine. edited by Di@DXB on 19/09/2012 Sorry, I meant glycerine. Thank you for the tip on the lecithin, that sounds more appetizing than the glycerine. In the past I never tried the recipes using glycerine because it sounds weird to me to use it in food. Welcome, definitely lecithin will do the same job as glycerine, although neither is absolutely essential, I would not like to put that in a lovely homemade loaf although I know its often used commercially.

With Emriates I have never found any website or agent that could do cheaper than Emirates itself, at least on the routes I use. Amsterdam to Dubai will be cheaper with KLM than EK.

You don't need a license to sell them at any of the craft fairs at the school and colleges as well as at ARTE and the markets such as the Marina or JBR. You can also sell them on littlemajlis.com, souq.com and goumbook.com

There's a House of Prose outlet in Dubai Garden Centre too. You could call with the titles and ask if they would want them before lugging them all down there. 04 368 5526

I had a sign made up in several languages to tell anyone selling anything not to ring. It did not work, they still rang anyway claiming they had not seen the sign or thought it would not apply to themselves! Its hopeless.

You will need to cover your hair with a scarf as well as wear the abeya, and better play it safe with the shoes. Nail varnish was the casue of a recent incident where a woman was persuded by moral police in a mall so better not wear it.

I know this has been done before but my search did not bring up the specific thread that I wanted (Irooni posted it I think?). I am looking for the best sandwhich bread, I live close to a Choitrams and close to a Spinneys so recommendations from these stores would be preferable. TIA This thread could be the one? http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=181820

You can now also buy gluten free bread from Geant supermarket at IBM Batutta. In the bread section on a middle shelf, top row I think it was and it looked really nice. Good to see there are becoming more GF products available. I have asked the bakery there so many times and its always not available, they never know even when or what day it comes in either. Do you know when I might catch it?

If all schools and KG's followed suit perhaps even more lives could be saved [url=http://www.7daysindubai.com/Nursery-shame-parents-don-t-use-car-seats/story-16915296-detail/story.html'>link[/url'> I think the actual change should be the law to be introduced and enforced. As much as I think this is a positive action, there will be many that don't and don't take kindly to the 'Name & Shame' approach. More lives will be saved when the police get the law introduced and do something about enforcing it and those that already exist. The actual 'reporting' to Dubai Police doesn't mean much without a law behind it. edited by Redlesley on 17/09/2012 Agree, I'm amazed there's no law on this, so its going to be completely up to the parents to comply, you're right shaming them is unlikely to actually make them more inclined and might do the opposite in that case. The school may be better to wait on this until there is a law to back them up. I can forsee a lot of parents telling the teachers to MYOB

There's a good range of man bags in Mendoza next to Geant, from 200 dhs up to 1000 for the really nice leather ones. Also saw some canvass/cloth ones in Shoe City around 180 dhs, a bit more casual style. hth

I've seen manbags in the luggage store adjacent to Geant, not sure if they have slim A4 sized ones, but worth checking there if you are going, sorry cannot recall the name of the shop, its just outside the supermarket on the left of the aisle that leads past a chocolate shop.

There are easy to make, just Google a recipe, I bought the special Lamington cake moulds back with me last time but you can use a flat tin and cut them into squares too. They are actually even better if your leave them until the next day, but that's the challenge!

Any bank, not only NBD, will freeze a static account whether savings or current if theres no activity. Its standard practise here, I think the limit is six months of no actiivity then it will be frozen.

Sorry you are having a tough time, losing your puppy is really sad, I cried for two weeks non stop when my cat died tragically. It helps to have someone to talk to, is there no one you can talk to all? I know that would make such a difference even if all they can do is listen. Perhaps try to get out to one of the coffee mornings and meet some of the ladies, I have made some lovely friends that way.

I think you would need to exit off the SZR at MOE and take a left crossing over the intersection flyover towards the Wasl road, when you come down the bridge from the intersection take the first right into the Wasl Road and then take the first right into Thanya street, take a left at the end of Thanya at the roundabout and its on the left side on the service road there. hth

There are some other places that are supposed to have GF bread on this link http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=186911 However when I have tried to get it in Geant its always out of stock and Spinneys too. It must sell out really early in the day! I agree its difficult to find most of the time.

Sorry, meant up to a half liter. :/ not a liter lol. Also I'm not so convinced about the UHT, long life milks, It's so highly pasteurized that it kills all the good bacteria and enzymes. A cows natural diet is just good, clean grass...how can that be possible in the desert? So the most natural animal's milk for this environment would seem to be camel's milk which also has a lot of benefits. I haven't tried it though, has anyone else? Yes I use camel milk every day, its particularly good for children who have any kind of difficulty with cow's milk as it lacks beta casein and other common allergens found in cow milk. It is also an immune system booster and is easily digested by lactose-intolerant . And has a host of other health benefits too.

I had a really bad experience on Souq.com and would not recommend it although some people have been happy with items they bought, so it can be hit and miss, guess it all depends on the person selling rather than the website. Also I was told that if you buy an Apple product anywhere here other than the official supplier the warranty will not be honoured. I'd go with "it ifs too good to be true it probably is."

What about the gorgeous little soap stall on the ground floor of MCC (all the soaps smell wonderful) or any branch of Lush? The OP wants fragrance and chemical free though so those would not suit her.

I would look in Safestway first, its the most likely place to find them. They have a better range of US products there that are not in the other shops at all.
