So is anyone worried about the turn of events after July 1st? Does anyone think that there should be a plan in place? There is one, it was in the news a while back.

2 hours to get a feed down is way too long. Poor you. Sorry if this is an obvious thing you have checked but is the flow from the teat fast enough for her, as she grows she may need a faster teat? If its teething try a bit of gel on the gums just before you offer the feed, maybe her gums are just a bit tender as you say shes only being doing this over the last few days. Does she drink much water perhaps too much or too little could be the reason, its a process of elimination but if she goes on refusing feeds you need to take her to a pediatrician.

I make a seaweed scrub, its even better than coffee for exfoliating, and anti cellulite as well as anti aging. You will need to be in the shower to use it as its a bit messy and not mind smelling like a mermaid but it really works wonders.

I think I've seen that kind of bed in Q Home Decor in Oasis Centre, they have nice modern and out of the ordinary things, no idea of the prices but would not have thought them more than The One.

I used WalesPacking a few years ago, they packed wonderfully, nothing got broken and they were the cheapest of all the quotes. I have not tried their storage but expect they would be competitive for that too. http://www.walespacking.com/index.html

ARTE fee is about dhs200 for the table excluding registration fee of dhs100, RIPE fee is dhs100 per table and Covent Garden is on a monthly plan I think and a bit more expensive.

You only have to cross one road that runs behind the metro station between the back of the mall and then walk across a bit of entranceway to the mall, I'd say 3 minutes depending on your speed. There's a pedrestrian crossing and its not a major road. edited by Di@DXB on 25/06/2012

I would try Daiso, and if not maybe try a hospital pharmacy for wooden tongue depressors, they are pretty much the same as lolly sticks.

This was about a year and half ago, Gulf Greetings at Ibn Battuta Mall and they cost dhs25. as far as I recall. Hope they still have them, they were two piece (lid and box) flat pack but easy to assemble.

Genuinely thought the 1500 was a typo and was meant to be 150! me too! And even at that price it would be more expensive than some of the legal outlets. Kind of exploitative offer imo.

Do you seriously think that its possible for a seller to even cover the table cost of dhs 1,500 per person by selling a few trinkets or jars of homemade spices????? Some lady offered a percentage instead of paying 1,500 dhs. I think its a good opportunity getting people know you, distribute your number, building potential customers database. maybe you can register names and emails, and stay in touch with potential buyers. So what you mean is good opportunity for unlicensed home businesses to promote themselves out of someones villa? If so that's illegal edited by Di@DXB on 24/06/2012

Desperatly searching for a apartment (Need to move 1st July) And getting sick of false advertisments from Dubizzle, When I speak to the real estater I usually either get "Oh no the price is wrongly advetised" or "Sorry that ones be taken, We can offer you something 10k more expensive" Last night I even got "That picture my friend uploaded by accident, Its not in that building." Starting to get a little desperate now, We have a small budget of around 45K for a studio, But looking for something in TECOM/Al Barsha/JLT If anyone can offer any advise, Please help! :) We have an agent we have used a couple of times for Springs/JLT, he was reliable and did not waste out time, showed us exactly what we wanted with no messing around. Had a similar experience with another firm on the SZR, same story their card machine was not working they needed cash deposit for the one month rental. I went back to them unexpectedly after 3 days because the car was unroadworthy and asked for a refund. The staff were very edgy, took ages in another room and asked me to come back the next day. I noticed that they appeared to be putting files into packing boxes so I insisted to take my cash refund there and then. I waited three hours until they produced the money. Within days the whole office had gone. I think in your case if you have a receipt go straight to the police otherwise maybe contact the economic dept to get their details.

Yes, you have dropped the price plenty already, some people are either stupid or just try it on. Good luck, I always get so annoyed with people who try to take advantage, I'd rather gift something than be ripped off.

True there's more chance of being killed on the roads than being bitten by a snake here. The reason we are seeing increased incidents of snake encounters is that new developments are being build on land that is home territory to snakes, so the more we encroach on the snakes habitat the more chance there is of meeting up with them. This is why I would not live out in new areas. The same happens everywhere where urban sprawl cuts into nature.

I wondered why our normally very quiet little parking area in Dubai Mall (we always go to the same bit as it's dead) was chocka last time we went! How very annoying. Does Dubai Mall have valet parking? If it's reasonable I'll use it but I can never find it despite signs saying 'valet parking'... Yes, there's at least one valet parking there that I know of. You go intowards the Armani hotel take the roundabout infront of the hotel and head back on the ext you will find the valet parking kiosk on the right handside, I think it was dhs50 though.

Hopefully they will identify any possible defects in safety systems there, it will leave Doha a bit short on malls though with Villagio now indefinately closed too, but better safe than sorry. Have not read about any similar inspections being carried out elsewhere, can only hope such things are already regualry checked on everywhere.

Always work out the special offers on multi packs as compared to the single item price, and as you say its very often cheaper or the same as buying one at a time.

I think earthquakes take on differing characteristics depending on depth and type of land surface so the fact that only windows rattled and not light fittings or furniture may just be due to these factors, we are in a high earthquake zone here http://www.emirates247.com/news/emirates/uae-in-very-strong-earthquake-zone-2010-08-09-1.276626

Orbis Foods have a variety of these bags with a resealable strip. I think you can drop an email to [email protected] for info... Hi malawi70, whom to contact for the cookie bags in orbis coz the website dosnt mention anywhere regarding these bags. They only deal coffee. TIA:) They do mention the bags on the 'Bespoke' tab, but that's for private labelling orders and would need you to order a minumum number, probably ok if you need lots branded with your logo. edited by Di@DXB on 20/06/2012

They are the yellow slips you get when you pay the 5000 dhs deposit for your first residence visa. These are receipts and you will not be refunded the deposit without them. edited by Di@DXB on 18/06/2012 I'm under husband sponsorship and can't remember to pay any deposit for my visa. For what kind of visa the deposit is/was required ? Never heard of a deposit being paid for a residence visa. Are you sure they don't mean the DEWA/Telecoms deposits? No it is not the DEWA/Telecoms deposit receipts, they want the receipt of the dhs5000 I paid the first time my residence was processed. I had to pay dhs5000 deposit which is refundable upon leaving Dubai providing I keep the receipts. The slips are white and yellow stickers printed in Arabic issued by immigration.

Daiso have clear bags of all sizes for the cookies, they have plastic sheet but not that big, I get the really large plastic sheets from the florist in Choitrams Safa. some of the Daiso ones say they are not for anything edible... The ones that are suitable for food are usually in the food packaging section while the other non food bags are over on another area for gift wrap etc, and as you say they are clearly marked so there should not be any confusion.

out of interest, how/where do you get a DEWA/rental contract certified? I gave up trying to get anything certified and gave immigration my original tenancy contracts and DEWA bills as well as copy from leasing agent of the Title Deeds of the property together with copies of deposit receipts of original residence, salary letter and passport. and of course the forms, the health test papers and old ID, and payment for the residence visa and new ID. edited by Di@DXB on 18/06/2012 What are the deposit slips of original residence? I'm in the middle of doing our maid's - there was an article in the paper last week saying that the new requirement of certified rental agreement & DEWA bills etc was no longer a requirement. I went to the new place in Al Manara / Sheikh Z Rd this morning & got the initial paperwork in which my husband now needs to sign & me take back tomorrow. The lady I spoke to today said I probably didn't need the Rental & DEWA although I did have to show her my husband's salary cert (in Arabic). She seemed slightly unsure and said bring it in case, so I suspect it depends on which person actually processes your paperwork...try another counter if you don't succeed first time! Good luck and maybe see you there tomorrow morning.. You were lucky that lady you saw was slightly unsure, and who could blame her seems things have changed officially since that report of last week, according to yesterday's article its now as follows- Quoted by the Sharjah-based Arabic language daily Alkhaleej, he said the new rules would be enforced in all UAE emirates “without exception” and are intended only to ensure all expatriates in the country have valid addresses. He said the decision, which was temporarily suspended last week, does not target property firms or any other party, describing it as a “security, service and administrative” regulation aimed at serving the UAE’s interests. “All expatriates, including families and individuals, must submit tenancy contracts with their visa renewal applications,” he said. “As for wives residing in apartments in the name of their husbands, they can present only their marriage contracts with their visa applications.” Of course we could all wake up tomorrow and find it changed again :)

Sometimes it depends where you go and who you see. It might be worth a trip to a different office to check if the requirements are the same.... Don't think so as these are the offical new requirements as published recently, but if you know of anywhere that will do the renewal without all of this runaround please let me know!

Selling things is a way to attract all the crazies too! I once sold a lovely white armchair and advertised it for 100aed. A woman called and turned up and said "Ill give you 50 aed" and I said No, I couldnt but would take 80 aed. She said "Fine, but you have to carry it out to the car" We went down the lift and I carried it the whole way and then heaved and ho-ed while trying to get it into the boot of her massive Mercedes Benz. The she slammed the hood hood and said with a sneer, "Im only giving you 50aed" handed me the cash and sped off!! Crazy folk out there with no shame or ethical underbelly at all That's just downright crooked and mean. I never use Dubizzle anymore, too many people like that, once advertised a brand new food processor still unopened which cost dhs 1000, had someone ring up and say he would take it, he then came and offered dhs100 for it as that was HIS budget!
