And red ridinghood, hansel and gretal, rumplestiltskin, rapunzel et all were such feel good stories for children? Let alone Harry Potter and some of the cartoons that inundate the kids channels. Agree, I would not read most of those to young kids either.

What brand is it? You can call the service centre of the company to see it even if its not under warrenty here. Probaly best to get authorised repairs as its still so new.

DJDXB I am soooo sorry.I got this number from a friend who has used them before. They are due to pick up my shelves on Wednesday. I am going to cancel now. So sorry. You were not to know, definately cancel them, you don't want these people in your house, they took personal items from my bedroom closet while they were shifting the furniture out. @GM thanks, but Mr Mohammed speaks English perfectly well and he is the one responsible, so I am going to send him one last sms informing him I am going to the poilce this morning if I do not get my things back immediately.

Still trying to get my belongings back form this Mr Mohamed, finally he picks up and tells me my items are in the hands of someone else who he has sold them to, he gave me the other man's number and he does not speak english well and keeps saying sold. Thinking of getting the police involved now as clearly he does not intend to return my belongings. I would get Dh to ring (and sadly they often respond better to men :-() and be VERY firm about calling the police! You shouldnt have to call the new buyer... this Mohammed guy is the culprit and theif. Getting so grrr on your behalf about this. Thanks, we will call the police first thing in the morning as it will probably take a while or need us to go to the police station to file a report.

There is nothing she can do. It has happened to me before when I was much younger. My husband and I stayed in a hotel. I took my rings off and put them on the bedside table and forgot them the next morning. We had already checked out and were on our way back by the time I realised. I called the hotel but the room had been cleaned and they were gone. I am sure it was the chamber maid that took them but no proof! I always like to think that the person who finds someone's jewelry and doesn't make an effort to return it is cursed in some way. I hope so, I forgot all my jewellry in the back of a London cab, he had taken me to my home address so knew where to return it and who it belonged to. Reported it and it never turned up.

In my experience you don't need to ID card for anything anywhere. Never been asked for it in three years. I think now you cannot do things like re-register your car without one......... yes it is only recently required for that.

i was thinking more of the online shopping they have in the Uk like Tesco's or Asda type. So easy, so convenient and a huge van delivers your goods at your chosen time. I don't like delivery in Dubai. I'm not at all comfortable with some poor guy coming to my house to bring me a few items, I'd rather go get it myself. Talking of groceries. Fruit and Veg??? Only been here 2 weeks but my digestive system has been suffering in all respects :) I've come from Italy were fruits and veggies are plentiful, fresh, tasty and cheap. Here I'm paying a fortune and everything is tastless! Are there particular shops I should be getting these from? I'm really desperate now as I've never eaten such bad fruit and veg and I'm doubting the vitimin value now since I feel so bad. I'm vegetarian so I don't buy the meat anyway but I see they have a better deal in terms of price, don't know about the quality. :) Have your tried the fruit and veggies at the RIPE Organic market, much better variety and quality and organic too. I expect to lose quite a bit on used furniture when its sold to a dealer as a lot even though it was all very good quality and quite new, however what I don't expect is to have an agreed price upon the assessment from the dealer and then get a much lower differing offer when they arrived to move the furniture out onto their van, by that time it was too late for us to look for another buyer, and I guess they just took advantage of our situation. Cannot say I can recommed this person to anyone else.

The curtain section of IKEA gave me the business cards of two tailors who will sew the lining into the curtains for you, if you already have them. The one I used even picked up and dropped off the curtains for me so I didn't have to try to find their shop in Deira. They did a good job. Can you give me those numbers if you still have them? I'm looking for someone to adjust some curtains and add some blackout, and did they hang them back for you too?

There's 100% certified raw organic Shea Butter and pure olive oil liquid castile soap, completely chemical free sold at the Saturday RIPE organic market at the Dubai Garden Centre too. Both would be good for dry skin and hair. That sounds really nice. Soaps like that are my preference, but all I can seem to use here is Dove--not very exotic.. You could try the whipped shea butter there too, its so healing and nourishing, they have grade A Ecocert raw organic Shea Butter in tubs, so much better than the chemically processed commerical alternatives. On a side note actually Dove is not soap, its a mix of petrochemical degreasers-ful of nasty toxins, you see the mirror test they do on the ad and how its leaves no soapy residue when the rinse it, thats because its not soap at all, in fact there's nothing plant based in it.

Safestway is on the SZR just after Mazaya Centre, so if you are coming from Dubai towards Jebel Ali take the exit marked Mazaya and follow the slip road straight on through the small roundabout and its on the right hand side, turn right when you see Safestway and the car park is down the side road. If you are coming from Umm Suqueim direction take the Wasl Road and turn right at the Post office, (its signed Mazaya and the turn is before the PO) go on straight all the way to the end of the road and turn right, take the first left and the car park will be immediately on your right. edited by Di@DXB on 07/06/2012

They picked up from us yesterday, it was one guy in a half truck and yes no one asked for the receiver address either, however I call Gladys today and she confirmed they had it all and were making out the contents list. So hopefully all will be well. They did change the price with me too, but only to give me a better quote. Just hope and pray all goes well. But if you dont feel happy maybe shop around some more. I had no choice but to use them as they are the only company here that ships to the location I need it taken to.

I use Evox although I'm not sure you get it here. I like the vanilla one, blended with water, dates, almonds and a banana. Yummy! I guess you know that Evox is far from natural it has the following ingredients Colloidal Silicone Dioxide, artifical flavours and colours, Xanthan gum, Citric Acid, Sodium Chloride and Acesulfame K Acesulfame K stimulates insulin secretion in a dose dependent fashion thereby possibly aggravating reactive hypoglycemia ("low blood sugar attacks"). Acesulfame K apparently produced lung tumors, breast tumors, rare types of tumors of other organs (such as the thymus gland), several forms of leukemia and chronic respiratory disease in several rodent studies, even when less than maximum doses were given. According to the Center for Science in the Public Interest, it was petitioned on August 29, l988 for a stay of approval by the FDA because of "significant doubt" about its safety.

Solgar Whey to Go (vanilla - haven't tasted the chocolate one) is another good powder, with no added sweeteners or artificial rubbish in it. I purchased mine from the nutrition shop attached to Life Pharmacy in Meadows village. Yes good natural one too, providing you don't have a soy allergy like me.

The main thing with whey proteins is to look for one that has not got anything more than whey protein isolate and natural flavours and sweeteners listed on the label. Most or nearly all of the brands avalable here contains other ingredients none of which are good for your health and in fact many are really bad. The only one I found that was totally natural was sold in Dr Nutrition centre, its got a picture of a glass of milk with a straw on it, cannot recall the exact name, but read the ingredients and you will see Whey Protein Isolate Natural Vanilla Stevia

I just had a large rug cleaned for 15dhs per m2, it was not stained or very dirty, I had it cleaned as I wanted to sell it, it came back nice and fresh and cleaner. They did it with dry cleaning materials. The laundry was Arabian Apex 04 347 0347 You can see a pic of the rug here [url=http://www.expatwoman.com/dubai/viewclassified.aspx?pid=30&cid=classifieds&clid=102310'>link[/url'> Wow, that was a good price Di. Did they collect it from you or did you take it to them? I want to get all my rugs cleaned before I move back to the UK, but it would take me several runs in my car to get them all there. They collected and delivered the rug back within a few days, very good service and amazing price. ETA I have to mention that my rug was not natural fibres or real wool just a poly one. So cannot vouch for how they would treat an expensive oriental pure wool or silk rug. edited by Di@DXB on 05/06/2012

Its all do with freedom of speech and human rights!! Everyone should be able to do and say whatever they like as long as they are not hurting anybody else right? Is there actually anywhere where you can say or do anything even if you not "hurting" anyone? If by "hurting" you mean only physically?
