I have seen strip magnets in Daiso, not sure how strong a magnet you need but you can cut these to length to increase the power, they are about an inch wide and 12 inches long as far as I recall. hth

The Qasqai is a more solid built and quality feel car to drive, I had one and agree about the space, the Honda is really nice looking and feels lighter but does not feel as well made as the Qashqai imo, having said that the Qasqai is not that nippy either. Depends what your priority is. Space, performance or build quality. I would go for a Nissan generally over a Honda for dependabilty but I would not buy the Qashqai again as I was dissapointed with the performance. why were you disappointed with the performance? Being a crossover I found it very sluggish in 'auto' drive which is when the car selects either 2 wheel drive or 4WD for you, and it used a lot of fuel in 'auto' too -the only way to make it at all zippy was to keep it permanently in 2WD to get any kind of good acceleration out of it, so really the crossover feature I thought was redundant, it performed well on sand in 4WD but I would have to select that manually as it was not efficient when left in 'auto select drive mode'. ETA - I absolutely love the Juke, test drove one last weekend, Definately my next car, but smaller of course than the CRV and Q. I don't need the space so its fine for me. edited by Di@DXB on 09/05/2012

Oh you poor thing - the quickest solution will be a freestanding unit, I have seen them in Geant and in other places, they cost around 1k as far as I recall, was looking at them last year but did not buy one. Hope you get something sorted soon. And congrats on the new baby.

Its powdered coffee made with dried milk powder, only difference between Nespresso and a cheap packet of dried coffee/milk mix is the snazzy looking machine that costs a bomb. Each to his own, but I prefer real coffee.

You may have tried these already, but just trying to help you indentify anything that may have changed since he was a good sleeper. Does he eat a sizable meal for dinner? He could be on a growth spurt. Perhaps the time between his dinner and bedtime is rather long and he's hungry. Maybe a bigger or later dinner could help. Has something changed in his routine or surroundings? i.e you stopped giving him pacifier or bottle? Have you tried just going to him and reassuring, telling him its nightime but not picking him up? During the day when you are out does the carer (I assume maid/nanny) perhaps let him nap too long in the day? or even God forbid is slipping him something to sedate him. I know of a case where this was happening every day while the mother was at work and the child could not sleep at night. After many fruitless visits to the doctor they found children's sedative in the maids room. Really feel for you and don't mean to add to your worry, but better aware than sorry.

Yes I am Aussie and grew up on Vegemite rolls and still love them. I am surprised at spices. Any in particular Di@DXB? And greeting cards??? Maybe it's time to learn card making:) I am planning on checking out the vitamins and medications when we visit next week. I take quite a few meds and vitamin things. Did you have any problems bringing in meds and vitamins Di@DXB? My butcher does the most fantastic garlic chicken thighs. Perfect to BBQ or add to Pizzas. I am hoping I can convince me to tell me what is in the marinade. Or maybe I need to bring an esky of those lol. I bring the spices not so much because I cannot get them here but because I get them cheaper fresher and cleaner than spices here. For example cinnamon sticks are really expensive here and always very old. There are one or two things I find not available here but it mainly whatever you use for spices is better to bring along esp. the more expensive ones. Same applies for health supplements. I never had any probs bringing the vits and meds in. edited to add - I don't bring meds other than OTC things that I could buy here, for eg Panadol, the Aussie Panadol is better and nicer on the stomach than the one here and there's the Panadol Neck and back which I don't find here. edited by Di@DXB on 04/05/2012

[ How can you be sure I have "impaired vision which your glasses are not adequately correcting" becasue I find a size 8 font uncomfortable to read from a meter away? Are you an Optrometrist? You're right, I can't be sure your glasses aren't right (obviously you do have impaired vision or you wouldn't need glasses) and I'm not an optometrist although I did used to work in an opthalmology practice as a visual fields technician (testing for glaucoma and doing refractions). My comment though was meant to relay that you should expect to be able to read a size 8 font at normal (100-150ppi) screen res from normal screen viewing distance if your glasses are strong enough. It sounds like though you might be looking at something even smaller than size 8 so my apologies. Perhaps you might want to email a screen shot to admin so they can see exactly what you are seeing? On my screen the font on the reply box is much smaller than the rest of the thread but is the same size as the topic headings under the featured links panel on the side. Having your screen at maximum resolution will make things smaller by the way, you could try a lower resolution. You might want to look at your browser settings too, sometimes you can set font size in preferences. (for example I can set my browser Safari to never use font sizes smaller than 10 or 12 or 14 etc which automatically resizes the font in the reply box to bigger) Thanks my res is on normal recommended by my computer. I don’t have Safari so cannot make those size selections, unless Explorer has them somewhere. I didn’t actually say I cannot read a size 8 font at all I just said it’s not that comfortable from a normal sitting distance. Going by what you said “(and to be fair even with a mild astigmatism I can read the reply box from almost a meter away without lenses” I was concerned to test this out on myself, so I got a tape measure and ran it to one meter away from the screen with a size 8 font. Result I could read the text, not comfortably but I could read it so I don’t think that means my glasses are bad because they are set for normal PC distance. The bigger problem in sitting a meter away from the screen was my arms can extend a max of only 70cm fully straightened out, so I actually cannot reach the keyboard to type at that distance! So unless I have abnormally short arms, I think not, then the one meter rule is not the criteria. Perhaps you would like to try to type with your eyes at one meter away from the screen, I’d be amazed if you could reach the keyboard? I would have thought the test should be taken at normal sitting distance i.e. a distance at which you can type comfortably. I am really not bothered if I can read the screen from any distance other than one which enables me to reach the keyboard and type and I don’t think glasses are normally set for PC use at one meter? Still confused as to why you insist mine are wrong.

Maybe restart your computer to get things normal again otherwise you might have a virus if its not your settings or its time for an eye checkup ;) So are you seeing the font size in the message box the exact same size as the featured links font size? Yes. Puzzled how I am seeing the add message box font size smaller than the other when everyone else sees it bigger. At least I know its not because of my eyesight! edited by Di@DXB on 02/05/2012

If your on a PC and using Internet explorer go to your toolbar click on VIEW. Then click on ZOOM. Then click on the size you feel is easiest to read. Hope this works for you. Yes, thanks am doing that. Comparitively although its a better size of course on 150% zoom, the font size in the message box is still half the size of the font size on featured links.

is the size of the font in the reply box the same size as the links below the "featured links" header (on the left side of the page). I was just trying to help the OP, in my experience admin are not going to help you on this one. :( (and to be fair even with a mild astigmatism I can read the reply box from almost a meter away without lenses, so you do have impaired vision which your glasses are not adequately correcting, although its also fair to say that so does a large chuck of the population so the web designers should be mindful of this) No the size of the font in the reply box is much smaller than the featrued links I would say half the size at least. Way smaller. As far as my vision is concerned I have just had an eye exam, my glasses have been checked and are fine. I also can read the featured links with no trouble from a very good distance. I have this problem, my neighbours above not only scrape their chairs but seem to take their furniture for walks at midnight every night, there's about an hour of chair and heavy furniture scraping over my bedroom every night, it wakes me up and its really disturbing. I cannot fathom why they need to move their entire bedroom around at midnight. I have been up to them several times, once to offer them chair pads, they declined, once with an offer to buy them a carpet, they declined and once just to ask them nicely if there was anything they could do to avoid doing this at midnight. Nothing has changed. Wish you better luck

I know web designers think its more professional to have small fonts and there is the consideration of space sometimes, but in the add message box there's no such limitation - the font could be any size in the given space. In the rest of the site is a comfortable size. From a users perspective if a page has to be zoomed to read the content it puts the whole thing off kilter and is a pain to have to keep zooming in and out to use it.

It is probably 2 sizes smaller, (which I can see fine) but if you zoom your screen you'll be able to see it. thanks, tried that, its better but I lose most of the rest of the web page off the screen, still think it could be bigger. :)

It must be you :D so what size are you seeing the font in? on the add a message box its a size 8 on my screen while the rest of the text on the website is a 12 and 14 which I can read ok. Don't think its my screen res. Yes there is a difference but it's not tiny! Where can I see the actual font size? Don't see the sizes written on the screen but compared to the font sizes on my Word docs. Its definately not a 12 or 14

Its not hard to find- with New Look behind you there are two corridors branching off from the central open area, take the right hand corridor and you will see the service exit immediately on your right, go all the way down to the end and take the left hand doors, don't worry at this point the doors are marked 'garbage room', (you may also smell it!) go though and straight ahead there's a double set of doors, it has a padlock hanging on it. The tailor is there, but it only opens at 2.30pm hth edited to add, they do a good job, reasonable prices too edited by Di@DXB on 02/05/2012

This explains it a bit http://www.emirates247.com/news/if-you-change-sponsor-get-new-emirates-id-card-2011-03-20-1.370462 seems he would have to go through the process himself " “It is incumbent on residents in cases of transfer of sponsorship, to provide the identity card to the typing offices to fill the new registration form and identify the new data.” He said: “In cases of applying for a new residence visa, six months after the end of the former visa, it is incumbent on applicants to go get themselves fingerprinted again as well.”
