Daiso do have strands of ivy but not very long ones I think, if you need a really long ivy strand the biggest selection of artifical flowers and shrubs I have seen here was in a shop in Sharjah, they had massive streamers of vines of all kinds and way less expensive than elsewhere. Have not been there for years so maybe call to check before going. http://www.uaeshops.com/index.php?task=view-shops&shop=372&lang=en hth

On Dubizzle I find I only ever get timewasters making really stupid offers. Why don't you advertise it here on the classifieds, that way at least you would get people who have may read your post and be more the kind of person you would rather deal with. Wish you luck

Do you have any friends in Dubai that could go to the property and speak to the tenants face to face regarding this? Good Luck! Good idea and failing that maybe call a debt recovery company, that way no need for the police at the first instance and they get a chance to pay wihtout legal repercussions. Just Google Dubai debt collection, there's quite a range of firm specilising in bounced cheques

There's one in Lamcy, its mainly clothing and few accessories and shoes. Mid to low price range things. I actually got a very nice French style trench raincoat there last year, did not want to spend too much as it was only for a short trip and it was much admired.

Thanks for the suggestions.......i did find Jell O pudding but unfortunately they didnt have Chocolate ..... so will go to other places suggested You could make one so easily and in way less time that's elapsed since your first post. I have a delicious recipe for choc mousse/pudding if you would like it. :) Oh! Please share.. Sure- this is my healthy chocolate mousse, I use raw organic cacao but a good quality cocoa powder is fine. 1 cup (or more to taste) cocoa powder 500 ml water 1 large pkt whipping cream 15 grams plain gelatine powder sweeten to taste I use Agave syrup you can use sugar honey or whatever you like as sweetener. Method Melt gelatine in 500 ml just boiled water stir until dissolved and add cocoa power and sweetener, stir well until smooth. Put gelatine/cocoa mix in fridge (or freezer to speed up) remove when semi set, has to be be not completely solid Beat whipping cream until firm peaks Add cocoa mix and whisk in until all fluffy, return to fridge (or freezer) until completely firm like a mousse Enjoy! edited to add you can use light whipping cream for low fat version edited by Di@DXB on 26/04/2012

You would think that banks of all places would know its an established fact that a person's signature changes many times as they age, aside from the fact that each time your sign its never exactly identical. Banks here appear not to comprehend this, I had a cheque returned for 'wrong' signature and the Landlord charged me dhs1000 for the delay. There really was nothing wrong with the first signature except it was not identical to the file signature. I went into the bank and did dozens of new specimen signatures for them, and they all were different! It was a nightmare trying to reproduce my original from 15 years ago.

at Terminal 3 if you are arriving with a machine readable biometric passport you can use the e-gate even if you don't have an e-gate card, not for children under 7 though, hopefully this will speed up immigration processing http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/visa/e-gate-system-to-benefit-biometric-passport-holders-1.1013686

If you use plain cocao powder it will only have 4gms of fat. Just avoid the hot chocolate cocoa powder mixes they have massive amounts of fat and sugar.

I need it to put in a large cardboard box to ensure its waterproof for shipping some delicate items overseas, any idea? i) Can it be wrapped in smaller separate pieces? ii) What about wrapping it with bubble wrap and trying your best to secure it with LOTS of good sticky tape (ACE) to keep the water out? Thanks, but it can't be wrapped in small pieces and I have wrapped it in bubble wrap but feel if the box gets left in the rain it could be spoilt, they often leave the delivery on the doorstep while no ones home to receive it where its going to. Since its a gift I don't want to put it in a black trash bag, was hoping to find a nice big clear bag. Looks like I will have to beg for one from a furniture store. edited to add - thanks annapanna & sue62 for the idea, I have found plastic clear plastic sheet but really want a bag to be waterproof. the dry cleaners bag was the first thing that came to mind! but its got printing all over it and a bit flimsy. Thanks ladies for all the input. edited by Di@DXB on 25/04/2012

that's also heavy duty, about the size of a large trash bag but clear plastic? TIA Buy something big ?? :) thought of that but really cannot justify buying a new piece of furniture or machine just for the plastic bag :D Lol...try asking somewhere that sells such things if they have any packaging from their display models ? Although sometimes they need to re-wrap them when they are sold...all i can think of really.... Yes think I'll try that idea, drawing a blank everywhere else, thanks :)

I’ve rented from quite a few companies here over time and had issues with several of them, one company invented fines that I had not incurred, which I proved, another debited my card 6 months after I had returned the vehicle and another one gave me a car in unsafe condition. It’s not just about the money when you're renting IMO, the company I found best value and most honest is Carfare, worth asking them about the Yaris, they quoted me a price and when I haggled they went down too. Media City 04 390 3265 Ok, this is the third time I have heard of "invented fines" other than my own personal experience. This rental company (named in this thread!!) tacked on 400 dhs one month for supposed fines. My husband was driving me to work at the time, so I just asked him to be careful with speeding. We dismissed it. The next month, same thing, but 200dhs fines. The third month, 1000 dhs in fines! I caught them because the day we were supposedly "clocked" our car was parked at our home when this whopping 600 dhs fine supposedly occurred. I called in to ask the sales guy wth, and he got very defensive when I said my attorney was urging us to alert the police. He claimed there was no way to verify what the fines were for. Ugh I want to name them soooo bad. TBH I would suggest Budget. We used the location in the Marina for rentals here and there (also a Yaris) and they had a monthly deal going on for $1700. I would rather pay that with a company I trust instead of splitting hairs over 200 dhs and get a crooked deal!! Yes I think those cheaper companies all invent fines to hike the price, its just not worth the hassle. I have not had that issue from Carefare at all although have rented from them for several months.

I had a fabulous Dubai conversation recently when I tried to make a nail appointment. Me: I'd like to make a mani/pedi appointment Spa: Okay but it is a very busy time so we need to take prepayment Me: Can I pay with my card? Spa: No, you have to come in Me: I don't have time to come in Spa: Okay come 10 mins before appointment to prepay. Seriously! Not half as frustrating at your two Di@DXB, but illogical none the less. FFx Classic! Perhaps we should start colllecting these 'conversations'

It must be my lucky day Called a health shop Me. I saw a jar of protein supplement on your shelf last week, I can't remember the name of the brand, its the one in a silver white jar with a picture of a glass with a bright pink straw on the label, and its the only make you have thats got natural vanilla and no artificial colors or sweetners. It was on the right hand shelf about in the middle. Can you find it and tell me the make? Him: What is the brand? Me: I was hoping you could tell me, that's the only part of what I just described to you that I don't know. Him. I cannot tell you the brand if you don't know. Me. That makes perfect sense. Shuts phone and gives up for the day. :\:

Look up Kent men's brushes on amazon, I got one for my dad a while ago. Haven't seen them in Dubai but you could try shops like Harvey Nichols etc. A body brush is very different. Yes I thought it might be, do Amazon deliver to Dubai? I cannot find a website that sells them that will deliver here either, and I was hoping to get one immediately as we lost the original Mason Pearson brush. Will look in Harvey Nicks, thanks.
