Sorry but I don't think it is funny...these are real people with families to support. How about if we were replaced by robots and had no income suddenly, not so funny then. Well regardless of the human factor clearly the government has already made the decison to replace human workers with robots in certain jobs, after all you don't have to pay a robot and it can work 24/7, makes economic sense to use them. Its likely more of us will be replaced by them in the future.

may get a more sensible answer from them :\: On the basis of the conversation I just had with a certain store over the phone all I can say is bring them on. Me :"Hello, ( to person answering the phone) Can I ask you a question about if you have a certain product in stock?" Her: "Yes maam." Me: OK, can you tell me if you have xxx in stock?" Her: "No." Me: "You have not got it in stock then?" Her: No maam I cannot tell you." Me: But I asked you if you can tell me and you said yes, otherwise I would not have asked you Her: You can ask me maam but I cannot tell you." Me: That's why I asked you if YOU can tell me!" Her "Can you call back later no one here now." A robot would have been so much easier.

Be sure to describe the items as 'used clothing being returned', otherwise you will be asked to provide documents that are difficult to obtain as the export of new clothing from Dubai via courier is subject to regulations.

Material is weird for sports thou - it's like doing exercise in a tracksuit made out of swimsuit material..... :) But yes - similar sort of thing, thanks Yes guess the suit would need to be cotton, I just bought a burkini type of thing for sun protection and thought the headwear part would serve your purpose.

Here's the Emirates Post rate caluclator http://tinyurl.com/d27gm9 However I would use Skynet, they are cheaper than any other courier here, they collect from your location and don't cost any more than EMS - so its really not worth treking to the post offrice and paying for express mail service when you can courier it door to door and track it for the same money. http://www.skynetworldwide.net/

I don't acutally know what a sports hijab would be but could you not use the stretch headwear part that comes with the burkini outfit. Sorry if I am completely off track, just a thought. :) In fact I think the whole outfit looks pretty sporty and very nice too like this http://tinyurl.com/69b4kbq

I only took Valerian for about a week, it worked progressively less well for me each night and then caused nausea so I gave up. You can find it here so no need for anyone to bring that over specially. I would suggest you try the natural tablets in Boots first, they are mild but gave me no groggy side effects at all, perhaps that would help you, I forget the name of them, but they are in a white box on the health supplements shelf. I will try to check the name for you next time I am there.

All these herbal things can work differently on different people, for me Melatonin is fine and works a treat with no groggyness but Valarian does not work as well and tends to give me nausea sometimes. Anyway it seems we cannot get it anymore now for some strange reason.

The last place I got some was the chemist next to P & S, they may have a bottle left, I have not tried there. Sorry Di, what and where is P & S? sorry Park & Shop, (on the Wasl Road) you could try Valarian as an alternative or there are some tablets in Boots that are a natural aid for sleep. They work reasonably well for me. map of Park & Shop http://www.dubai-online.com/maps/al-wasl.htm its after Spinneys umm suquim on the right hand side in a small complex <em>edited by Di@DXB on 10/10/2011</em>

:D These would be my first choice... http://www.fitflop.com/sandals/pietra-bronze/invt/pietrabronze/ but at that price, I'd be happy with just about any of them. Bronzey colours preferred, any of the 'flip flop' styles, not white if possible; Size UK8/US10. Thanks again! Just got back, those one in the stall are look-alikes, not the real thing, not bad but they don't have the super sof sole like Fit Flops. But I can still send you the real ones, I saw the model (or very similar) you want in Debs. dhs 285 <em>edited by Di@DXB on 08/10/2011</em>

Saw them yesterday at Ibn Battuta Mall, there's freestanding stall near Debanhams with various styles from dhs40 to dhs70. Seems amazing price as inside Debs they are three times that. FIT Flops??? Far out...at that price I'd have ten pairs! Want some, I can send you some over if you like? LOL...I'm 'desperate' for some. :D Very generous of you to offer...but are you sure they were genuine Fit Flops? :) I am going back there now and will check them out and take pics. My DD in Oz wants some as well so I'm sending to her too. edited by Di@DXB on 08/10/2011 You are a star Di. Thanks!! Can you post a link to the style you want so I have an idea of what to get?

Thank you all ladies for contributing your valued feedback, much appreciate. I have been told something similar to what Madamerose is indicating below by Virtuzone regarding their package. And indeed RAKFZE also leases out flexi-desks. From what I have understood from a consulting office (mind you, I may have misunderstood...), the requirement for an office/ flexi-desk is linked to visa obtention. However, if the law is now making a sine qua non of a physical (and established) office, then this may be a potential issue with virtual packages and the concept of flexi-desk, thanks for the caution note Di@DXB. Your both contribution ladies, as well as Viator's and Vanillacupcakes', certainly shows the need to explore options carefully before making the investment - which may range from 30K to 50K from what I'm being told. [b'>Do we know whether the article by newzglobe (thanks for the link btw) was carried by Gulfnews? I seem to have missed it if so, and I assume that this type of news would be reported by all the leading papers and business mags. Anyone please?[/b'> It was also reported in Emirates 24/7 http://www.emirates247.com/news/virtual-offices-are-illegal-says-ded-2011-04-10-1.379074 And I remember hearing a news report on Dubai radio at the time too, if I recall correctly they also said those companies set up under virtual free zone licences in other emirates would not be allowed to trade in Dubai as well. I would investigate this area throughly before opting for this kind of licence. Also confirmed by' Dubai Corporate Lawyers' group on Linkedin http://www.linkedin.com/groups/Companies-operating-from-Virtual-offices-3762201.S.50084213 and by Zawya Business weekly http://www.zawya.com/marketing.cfm?zp&p=/story.cfm/sidZAWYA20110410030513/Be warned: Virtual offices are illegal, says DED?cc and by MoveOne Relocations http://www.moveoneinc.com/blog/immigration/enuae-curiosity-illegal-virtual-offices-dubai/ <em>edited by Di@DXB on 08/10/2011</em>

Hahaha! No need to be so sensitive! The person who is asking the question may get confused by "The kind of package offered by agents for Virtual zone business..." and the actual free-zone called "Virtuzone". That's all I'm trying to say--khalas! No need for you to jump on my comment as incorrect! As a matter of fact the company you refer to do offer the kind of services that are illegal ie Licences without physical offices see http://www.vz.ae/landing_page/packages.php

Yes I see but "Virtuzone" and "virtual offices" should not be confused as the same, just to clarify for some. Neither I nor the article I referred to mentioned the word [b'>'Virtuzone'[/b'> The confusion is yours. Di@DXB, I think you misunderstood that article and Virtuzone. I have a Virtuzone license and am completely happy with them. It is all legitimate and is a branch of "Fujairah Creative City". With Virtuzone you do not necessarily have an actual office space but you pay a "service fee" of 1,700 Dhs. (which is in lieu of office space) each month. At the Virtuzone offices, they have a common workspace that you could use if you wanted, so essentially they are able to offer you a desk for your service fees but most people are not in need of them, especially if the nature of the business is not sitting in an office. But what they were refering to in that article is private "consultants" who sell licences that may not be legit and take money for a virtual office when they now need to have actual office/desk space. Previous to this I used to have a RAKFTZ licence and was paying for a "flexidesk" in RAK that I actually never even saw. I hope this clarifies. I said "The kind of package offered by agents for Virtual business set up[b'> without office rental is illegal now [/b'>" That IS correct.

The DED announced a few months ago that virtual offices are no longer legal. The kind of package offered by agents for Virtual zone business set up without office rental is illegal now and anyone applying for these types of licences would be deemed as having applied for a business licence with fraudulent documentation. http://www.newzglobe.com/article/20110410/dubai-economic-department-warns-virtual-offices-are-illegal

Good that Citibank have got their customer service announcements up ahead of time, lets hope the other banks have got their act together, there's not a word about this on the well known four letter bank website although they must have known the same time as Citi bank.

No need to panic. its an IBAN number. from the article "IBAN implementation in the UAE could mean that all customers will have specific IBAN numbers [b'>in addition to their existing account numbers[/b'>" Its going to effect any existing arrangements we have for foreign transactions as the new number will have to be replaced on all standing orders. This means instructing our bank and corresponding banks for remittances in or out to be in the new number as opposed to what they have on file. Wherever there is a change there is real possibly of error in my experience. I will be amazed if this all goes without a hitch. <em>edited by Di@DXB on 07/10/2011</em>

Welcome to Dubai. I cannot see what the difference is going to be for you if you are buying from Dubai instead of buying from Canada, even if you are not going to shop from the same online stores you used before in the US. So is your question regarding using a Dubai issued credit card rather than a Canadian issued credit card? I cannot see any difference in terms of safety online either way, unless I'm missing something.

You can probably sell Pampered Chef. Not sure if the company wants you to sell it here but if you have a US mailing address or know someone who does and will let you use theirs, then it wouldn't be as difficult and certainly very possible. If anyone needs a us address, my sister will receive and remail for you. it's her very small business! I would be interested, how do I contact her? Also do you or anyone happen to know if its legal to hold these sorts of product parties here without a trade license of some kind?
