Maybe not quite the location you want but the Grand Mid West DG do good monthly rates for a studio apartment, a friend of mine stayed there last year and was quite happy. You can shop around for rates, they vary a lot online, the best I found was at http://www.asiatravel.com/uae/grandmidwestapartment/index.html In the end I got her a better rate than advertised by going there. Based on the location of where you took the exams, this should help you identify which Board you need to contact to get a replacement certificate http://store.aqa.org.uk/admin/library/AQA-EXAMRECORDS.PDF

Maybe a quick and cheap solution would be to buy a roll of contact plastic cut it to fit and stick it over the changing table surface.

ACE hardware on SZR have a very small model making material section where I have seen some pieces of balsa wood, you could call them and make sure they still have it available. Not sure about the plastic.

The best shampoo is the one that does not contain any of these ingredients ■Propylparaben ■Parahydroxybenzoic acid ■Parahydroxybenzoate ■Methylparaben ■Ethylparaben ■Butylparaben ■Benzyl-parahydroxybenzoic acid ■Methyl-parahydroxybenzoic acid ■Ethyl-parahydroxybenzoic acid ■Propyl-parahydroxybenzoic acid ■Butyl-parahydroxybenzoic acid These synthetic hormone-disrupting chemicals are in shampoo preservatives and can be found even in products that claim to be ‘natural’ and ‘organic.’ Parabens have proven to disrupt the endocrine system, they mimic, disrupt or block the actions of your hormones and interfere with your body’s hormonal pathways. They are readily absorbed thru the skin especially under a hot shower when the skin pores are open. These estrogen mimicing chemicals can cause big problems including weight gain, fluid retention, depression as well as disrupting regulation of fertility, pregnancy, menstruation and cause weight gain. Avoid them as much as you can!

Boots have disposables sheets you can put under or on top of your sheet, the have an absorbent side with waterproof backing. That would absorb any sudden water leaks and give you peace of mind. They come in packets in the baby and mother items area. Have seen king size matress protectors in Geant too. edited by Di@DXB on 21/07/2011

You could try this, remove the outer casing, there should be a slot where you can gently pry it open. Once open you will see the circuit board, thats the green thing with lots of silver dots and wires. if the circuit board is unattached from the metal piece that goes in the computer lift the circuit board out of the casing. Then insert the metal piece that goes into the computer into your pc usb port, and insert the end of the circuit board that has the four silver metal pieces at one end into the usb port, and hold it steady there and try to see if you can get a connection to d/l and save the contents to your pc. This may work if you flash stick is completely broken off from the circuit board. If your flash stick is the sliding type you can open it an just try to hold it together while its in the usb port. This is quite strange as RTA do not have your place of work, they have no reason to. [b'>I was interested to check these machines and guess what, they give all sorts of info just by you putting in a car number plate[/b'> :\: I use AXA, so my info is safe, but is this even legal here? This should be confidential information. Very strange I have to say. I think I'll avoid this machines too. thanks for sharing This is very disturbing; OP I really suggest you contact the Express newspaper to have this all brought to light! Thanks Pomegrante, I have just written to the paper. Hopefully they will expose the issue and bring about the neccessary changes.

Thanks for asking, I have not had any satisfactory response other than an email from the HO of the petrol company saying the matter would be investigated. Considering that the person concened is unlikely to have more than a telling off, due to his status, I can only hope and assume this will be done and I am unlikely to ever know of it. I trust in future at least he will desist from doing the same again, but meantime I would still avoid those gas stations where the Quick Quote machines are placed in the car wash areas.

There are so many bad hairdressers out there that charge you a small fortune for the privelege of having your hair look like a small child did it, If anyone actually manages to find a reasonably priced one who is great please let me know 3 years and still looking like a 3 year old did my hair, the only decent cut i get is when i go home once a year. Not sure how they can charge 700 AED for highlights and a cut and blow when they use no different products to what is used at home its ridiculous. Over the years have had the same, really bad cuts and color jobs at some of the supposedly best salons. With the turnover of staff its hard to say if the same still applies but If you are looking for just a trim, I have used the salon in Lamcy several times, but not recently, it has been ok for a simple cut and or trim, not had color done there. Its not expensive. Alternatively I have had a cut and trim at Bellisma salon in DG also not recently either. Quite reasonably priced too. Definately avoid the salon outside of Ibn Battuta Mall at the Geant end, I had an experience there that can only be compared to an attack by Edward Scissorhands. Mumtaz is EMS, which you will need to go to the post office to send a package and whenever I used EMS to NZ it was not delivered to the address there, they had to collect it from their post office in town. The easiest option is Skynet, they will collect from your home or office for the same rate as EMS. And there's tracking too like any courier.

I used to use Express Post to NZ, the packages are handled by NZ Post at that side but they don't deliverto the addressee, they have to collect from nearest Post Office. I then discovered it is no more expensive to use Skynet, they collect from my location and deliver door to door. No hassle getting to the post office either end and costs the same per kilo. Quicker too. (DHL is lot more expensive than Skynet) Skynet 04 2826555

OK so it's Friday, most of Dubai are away and our router is playing up and we can't get it to talk to the laptops! Is there anyone out there who we can call on a Friday?? Please someone, I am lost without access to the internet except through the wire on the wall. You may have done this already so sorry if its useless, but have you tried switching it off for a minute and restarting. I find that works most of the time. edited by Di@DXB on 15/07/2011

I believe they are already doing this as we were charged it on last months bill. You are right, there was a surcharge announced in Jan this year based on actual price to DEWA, the announcement in the press today reports the offcial decree for authorising it. Well I hope its only that and not yet another surcharge. http://gulfnews.com/business/general/dewa-to-introduce-fuel-surcharge-1.838387 If its the same one they announced in Jan, I wonder how they were applying the surcharge before it was officially authorised though? edited by Di@DXB on 14/07/2011

So the fuel charge is for the delivery of Electricity and water to our homes ??????? edited by salsB on 14/07/2011 Its a surcharge on the price of electricity which will reflect global oil prices, so if the oil prices increase the difference in the price will be spread over our bills and it will be featured on the bill as an extra charge which will be variable. edited by Di@DXB on 14/07/2011

An alternative to the metal type, if you don't find one, would be the small insulated thermal bags, you will find a range of them in Daiso for about 7 dhs, one of those would keep the food cool better than a metal or plastic one too.

.....Emirates seem to hide their managers and it is extremely difficult to find someone in charge, that actually cares. .... Agree, but as a precaution I would also write the whole incident in a letter and take it to them when you go in, even if you do manage to get to talk to anyone in charge they may ask you to email it in to them and/or try to dismiss the matter if you have not put something in writing at that point. Have your letter printed out ready to put in front of their faces and then email it as well after your visit referring to the name of the person you spoke to at their offices. Do hope they take this seriously and deal with your complaint appropriately. Its appalling they treated a child in that manner. From my experience I had to involve the press to get any reaction from them. Maybe you should do likewise if you get no joy dealing directly.

I have not tried Rosetta Stone. But if you want to see how you would get on with learning Arabic or any language before paying for anything, try BYKI, they offer a free d/l of many languages inc Arabic, and you get the first level free for as long as you need. I found it easy to follow and liked the test system which does not let you go to the next lesson before mastering the previous one.

Was there at the opening, there were over 100 people waiting for the doors to open and grab the freebies for the first 100 customers. It seemed to be as well stocked as DM. Difficult to get a complete view of it all due to so many people, I got queue barged at the cash/gift counter by someone from a 'culture' that does not know the concept of queueing. Plan to go back on a quieter day and have proper look around.

Think it's a great idea!!! This will make you happy then -Ryanair also recently announced they would start offering totally child-free flights this October. Although as it was announced on 1 April it's been suggested that it was an April Fools joke... Well it won't be so funny if people book for October thinking it's chld free and find themselves on a plane full of screaming infants!
