DH says they probably have hacked the system to steal data. You might try contacting the company and letting them know this is happening. And definitely the owner of the place you were at. Thanks Guinness - I will do exactly that first thing tomorrow, I thought it could not be normal to get this kind of access, as your DH says they must have found a way to hack it.

Wow how could they mess up such a simple alteration! I have used the tailor in Ibn Battuta for years and had no probs. Have not tried them for buttonholes, but they did also manage to do an 'invisable mend' on a delicate garment and it was quite satisfactory.

You can hire the double decker Big Red Bus and cruise around Dubai while you party, it would suit the number of guests you plan for.

I tried everything traditionall to no avail for a year. In the end I took some Japanese tablets made from seaweed and was completely cured very quickly. Don't recall the name of them but there's some info here http://www.seagreens.com/University/HealthCondition.aspx?HC_ID=52

Really speechless at that kind of behaviour. The most you can do now post the event is go back and see if the girl is still working there and has no been penalised. If she has or appears to have gone then speak to the supervisor and explain her innocence. Also you could suggest the introduction of ticket numbers at the counter to avoid future incidents.

Thank you all for your replies. If we needed a trade license, does anyone know how we get one? Thanks, Nippy A trade licence to form a company is issued by Dubai Economic Dept. You can start the application process online. Price depends depends on the category of trade, manufacturing costs more than providing a service for eg. Lots of info on their website and you can check out proceedure and cost. http://www.dubaided.gov.ae/english/pages/default.aspx

Hi, Just a question or two! My DH makes model railways. We were just talking the other night about doing some and selling them here. Is this something we can do here or do we need to have licenses etc...? When I go to school craft shows etc, there are a lot of people selling Jewelry and Clothes etc, do they need a license to sell at these craft shows? I was just wondering if he made some models railways up and we attend these craft shows and sell them, that we can, or is there red tape we need to go through? Thank you, Nippy You dont' need a licence for most of the craft fairs at the schools, or the Arte tables or for the flea market, there are one or two others that do need licences, I think its the the JLT and or JBR ones where you will need a trade licence.

`hey ladies! I am looking for meringue powder does anyone know where i can find it? Tavola is out of stock till July and I need it ASAP! Also does any one know where I can get SLS or Soap to make Soap? xoxox Spinney's usually have the meringue powder. Why do you want to add SLS to your soap? Its a dangerous chemical that's added commercially as a degreaser, the same kind as they use in garages to degrease engine. It can cause skin irritation and it better avoided.:)

Try the Siemens service centre -04 333 0532, they will come out for a fee, and give an estimate for the replacement, I had one recently it cost around 500dhs for the new coil excluding labour, I don't know who else would repair a Siemens cooker or have the correct parts other than Siemens. The cat may be anxious to go outside in its new home, perhaps feels threatened by other cats in the area, its used to using the garden and may need time to adapt to the litter tray, try a different type of litter indoors, perhaps it dislikes the current type, and keep the bathroom closed. A cat will like to frequent the spot it has used before, so wash and rinse the bathub out well with bio washing powder to remove its poo scent. This is assuming you have the cat checked by the vet for UTI or gastro infections that may be the cause of the abnormal behaviour.

It may be ok to drive on a foreign licence up until you get residency, then you must apply for a local licence, but if you want to rent a car when you arrive you will need an international licence. Better get one anyway.

Have you tried House of Cakes, they do special birthday cakes for kids and have a 3 day advance order minimum http://www.houseofcakesdubai.com/store/index.php?categoryID=7 .....and we've also seen PLENTY of REALLY BAD feedback about these guys, search through EW forum. I had no idea there was "PLENTY OF BAD" feedback about them, I found them mentioned on another thread and there was nothing bad there or I would not have suggested them to the OP. I was ONLY trying to help!!

There's one in Ibn Battuta Mall, go in at the Body Shop entrance and ask the Info Desk for directions, its down a service corridor, not in a main shop. Its very reasonable for basic alterations.

If you mean the Notary Dept in Barsha, then You keep to the far right hand lane after MOE and look out for a sign for Police Dept, you take the service road that leads to Dubai Garden Center and at this exit immediately take a right and keep going straight until you come to a small roundabout and go straight you will see the Dubai Notary Courts Dept on your left, turn into the car park and go to the main building. click here to see a map http://www.dubaicourts.gov.ae/portal/page?_pageid=53,72555,53_72583:53_78369:53_78421&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL HTH

By law he can claim that he needs the property back for his personal use, so if he is looking to revenge on you for taking issue over the rent likely he is probably going to use this route. Makes it really not worth disputing the rent if they have this option I think. Sorry for your situation. He has to prove he needs it back and if they don't move in he has to pay you compensation...... Our LL told the rent committee that he needed it for his own personal use and the rent committee ruled that we were allowed to stay for up to 3 years in the property. Our LL was told to speak to him own LL. Of course, it turned out he didn't need it at all...... the rent committee can see through these scams. Yes, maybe so but it leaves the OP with yet another battle to take up with the rent committee I guess

It depends on the company you are with, but I applied for refund over a week ago and been told it will not be the full amount, and how long it will take is anyone's guess, if you are anxious about the time you better speak to your insurance company, preferably someone in upper management, and ensure the matter is attended to within the timeframe you request. They will issue a cheque, which is another consideration in view of you probably wanting to close your bank accounts before leaving. Best of Luck :) Still no news on my refund to date! edited by Di@DXB on 22/05/2011

You will need a replacement screen fitting, just contact the manufacturer's repair agent or the shop you bought it from and ask, if you are handy with fixing stuff its not actually difficult to install one yourself I replaced my Toshiba screen myself and I am not trained in computers at all.

My DS has used two of the well known clinics over the last 6 years. The first was CS, he was dissapointed with the result as they (according to the second clinic he went to later) did not implant densely enough. It really made no improvement for him and he had a lot of down time with the proceedure there. The second attempt was last year at NH clinic where they (I think) used a newer technique, there is some slight improvement after the second treatment, and far less down time but I would say it will need redoing again at least once more to reach anything like what he hopes for. Cost wise I don't think there was much difference. HTH

How much should I pay the tailor to shorten a pair of trousers? I used to pay 10 Dhs in Doha but I have a feeling that I won't get away with that here. Just don't want to be taken for a ride! Thanks! There's one in Ibn Battuta Mall that will do alterations very reasonably, its in the part of the mall near Body Shop, you can ask the info desk right there for directions as its down a service corridor.

Two days ago we went to City Centre and a guy with a huge car parked next to us. He kept reversing and bumped the car behind him quite hard. Climbed out, looked at his car, giggled like a girl and walked off! Weird! When we returned later his car was gone already and we saw the dent he made to the other car. No note left either.... Amazing! What a nerve, and when other people were obvioulsy in sight of it. I guess you were the only one who even found it odd.

I take glucosamine tablets but find them impossible to swallow whole since they are so enormous, anyone know of a brand that is not the size of a horse suppository? :) I have osteoarthritis in my neck and back and use a powder which is a combo of Glucosamine and Chondroitin. Powder is supposed to be absorbed quickly (1 teaspoon per day which I mix in OJ). The brand is Blackmores which I was using in OZ and now order online. I also take Silica which was recommended by my Dr. edited by MimiM on 10/05/2011 That sounds ideal, can you tell me where you buy the Blackmore powder? I gagged so many times with the whopping great tablets even when i cut them into three.

This is what it says on the label "An overdose of paracetamol is dangerous and capable of causing serious damage to the liver and kidneys. You should never exceed the dose stated in the information leaflet supplied with the medicine. Immediate medical advice should be sought in the event of an overdose with this medicine, even if your child seems well, because of the risk of delayed, serious liver damage." I would call a doctor and check if it were my child.

sounds like a good idea. it just seems pathetic that we are talking about almost 3 year olds! i feel like a total failure :-( I'm sure you're a great mother, all kids are different and we should not feel we have failed because they have not reached the stage given in the baby books, kids never go by the books becasue they have never read them!

Maybe try intoducing foods gradually into the milk, like in smoothies, put pureed things in at first and then increase the size of the bits offood until they get using to eating rather than drinking everything.

You did the right thing to reassure her, it can be normal to have some slight bleeding at any time in the pregnancy, my DIL bled the whole time and had a normal baby and delivery. Depends on how much bleeding there is of course, if it is profuse and does not stop then go to the doctor immediately and as you advised her get a check up asap to be safe, but generally if its slight bleeding theres no worry. It just happens in some pregnancies.
