The only access to public transport, besides taxis, is the same bus that goes through intl city...number 365 to rashidiya. As far as playgrounds for your child, there arent any in this area, except inside the gated communities. Also, most buildings have gates and keys to get in.

Read this thread: http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=153895 Overall, its convenient, great location for getting on the main roads, and quiet! You can also get a great variety of apartments, suited to what you need/like and the prices are still very affordable. edited by Chi2dxb on 02/11/2012

that was another reason i didn't rush into buying them! so expensive, i thought it was just a spinney's thing and was going to look elsewhere, but i guess carrefour doesn't have much either :\ anyone else have any luck? i'd still be willing to try a bag if i knew it was worth it!

I use and swear by India Gate rice. It cooks quickly, is super long grain, and is always fresh. Perfect every time.

I did not have a seat booked for my son for a flight from DXB to Paris (cdg) and when I got to the gate, I asked how full the flight looked and if I could take his car seat on board with me. They said it was wide open and I was able to. They also took the stroller at the gate, which I thought was a gate check, but when I got to CDG, I found out they don't bring the strollers to the gates, it goes directly to the baggage claim. When I found out that I had to carry the baby, the car seat, and the diaper bag while being 6 months pregnant to baggage claim and back, I might have looked like I was going to cry, so a man at the gate was super nice and went down the jet bridge to bring it around for me. That was the only place that's happened to me, otherwise, they usually bring the stroller around to the gate. edited by Chi2dxb on 27/10/2012

Ace has something called Gorilla Glue, that should def hold anything together. Not sure if you'd have to get a sealant to make it waterproof If you wash the bowl, though.

You may be able to get one made if not ready in global village, its first day is Sunday. Also, I have seen a few places in souk al bahar that have it but I'm not sure how specific they are and if they'll make it for you on the spot if they don't have what you're looking for.

Honestly, you don't even need to sew if you don't want to. Just tie the elastic ends together after you've measured. And you can get tulle or net in any fabric shop in satwa. Craft land mayy have the spools, I don't remember seeing it on the bolts, will have to double check though.

All you need is some elastic and tulle. It's fairly easy to make. I've made a few for my nieces...just need a good movie or show to go along without getting bored! http://mammaliciousfinds.blogspot.com/2010/04/diy-tutu-tutorial.html?m=1 Oops sorry, Kelly, didn't refresh! it depends on where you are and what your body can get used to. our building keeps their air on in the hallways, so even though we have it off inside our place, it still gets a bit chilly. i have a little space heater that i'll turn on when giving the LO a bath or taking a shower myself, but it's usually not on all night, just for a couple of hours here and there.

Yikes. I've had a heart attack at what people are quoting for fresh flowers. I only want my bouquet and button holes for the guys, we're doing something else for reception decorations. Do you know the name of the shop? Or where it's located? Many thanks. Me? Or Blonde? :P I walked around a few different shops until I saw one that I liked. It had different waterfalls and plants in it, real and fake. No name, sorry.

i also just used my immersion/hand blender/chopper set to make baby food. Never bought anything special for just one thing. Worked just fine. DS started eating jars and purees at 6 months and is now 14 months, with no teeth still, but he's eating table food right alongside us. I don't make him anything special now but I do freeze boiled pasta for a quick meal/snack.

i dont think why it would be a problem or how anyone would even know you're not muslim. it's not like you wear a sign around your neck saying you're muslim before going into the prayer room/hall. :) normally people want to get in, pray, and leave, no one's trying to cause any problems.

I had a bouquet made for my reception here a few years back. I also didn't want real flowers as they would die and I got mine made from dragon Mart. I found a fake flower shop, picked out the flowers that I wanted based on my colors and asked her to make a bouquet and she pinned and ribboned it up very well right then and there. After much haggling I got it for 70 or so aed and its now framed with my outfit. Love it and so glad I didn't get real flowers. edited by Chi2dxb on 11/10/2012

If you are going to be cutting them for crafts, you can get sheets of the sandwich wraps next to the ziplock bags. I believe they're rectangle shaped.

Thanks MrsW, I'll be sure to check out NY next time I'm in DM. Chi - I'm in JLT so I use the one near me just after the JLT metro station. As for recipes, my little notebook is slowly getting filled with close to 100 different things I use or have tried so it's easier for me to give you the website I get most of my ideas from: www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com There's some brilliant ideas on there and I've saved so much money making my own stuff, not to mention cut out a lot of chemicals I use around the home and on my family (I have nothing to do with this website, simply passing on info) i love jillee! and i just finished a second batch of a bunch of cleaners! i also have some castille liquid soap if you need! and some borax! i brought it back with me in a little container cuz i couldn't find either of those things here.

Thanks for the offer Chi2dxb but I think we have the same taste!! I've already got lavender and tea tree, and I just managed to find peppermint at ibn battuta yesterday but I really appreciate the offer. I've managed to find cheaper baking soda in 8oz boxes at park'n'shop but I seem to go through a few boxes a week with all my creating. Expatriate - what a brilliant idea, never thought of that so hopefully they can help me out. i'd love to exchange "recipes" with you. what are you conjuring up? haha also, is this the park n shop on wasl? edited by Chi2dxb on 08/10/2012
