OMG! Jones' is a soy bread!!?? And corn oil? Double whammy! NEVER having that again! That teaches me to always ask about ingredients. I have endometreosis along with Hashimotos so I am avoiding Soy like plague. Mary Todd, unfortunately when you are gluten free, you cannot do even a little bit. It's like this, you are either pregnant or not pregnant, so you are either gluten free or not gluten free. edited by Chocobella on 26/05/2014

Mols, that is completely true! Wheat goes out and in come all sorts of starches and gums and I just feel it's better to be off bread. Just go Paleo. Or Wheat belly diet. I just crave my pizza :-)

Organics have the worst gluten free bread ever. Got it once and that was 20aed down the drain. Got 2 pieces of GF bread in Jones this weekend with the bread basket, you have to ask for it, lovely soft, thick slices. Great! It's VERY expensive if you want to buy a loaf though, 84AED. edited by Chocobella on 26/05/2014

Thanks so much Terrible_twos. Big help! The online pizza base looks very much like the real thing. Thanks so much for telling me. I just had 800pizza gluten free and wasn't bad at all. More bread-y than NKD. The gluten free bread pizzas such a great idea! Thank you so much! Happy bunny! :-)

Ha ha Ladychoco, our names say it all ;-) Vintage Chocolate Factory is just amazing! They have gorgeous chocolate desserts, although some servings are small for the price, like the Creme Brulee comes in a really teeeeny ramekin. It's utterly delicious though. Their Aztec Hot Chocolate is the stuff dreams are made of! But do beware, they will always give you a milked down bland chocolate colored liquid first, till you call them over and ask them to make it the thick chocolate heaven they've shown in the picture, and then comes the real thing, deep dark thick spiced liquid lava that takes a bit of an effort to pour out. That's my staple there. Though I can make a pretty good thick hot chocolate at home too, but it's great there. Yes, I'm a chocoholic. :-) They are opening another outlet at The Walk JBR.

Thanks Terrible_twos! That's a huge help! I was reading a brochure from 800 pizza and they've stated that they take care of cross contamination. Thanks so much! NKD gave me much grief, looked like a paste of tapioca and rice flour had been spread out and baked :-( Absolutely zero taste. Would you please post a link to the gluten free market online? Thanks so much! edited by Chocobella on 19/05/2014

Marytodd, that is one VERY interesting study. I have Hashimotos thyroditis, it is an autoimmune disorder in which the body reacts to it's own thyroid as if it were an alien, and gluten produces the same reaction, Hashi antibodies increase with gluten ingestion. I agree, there can be many reasons for people's gastric issues, and some researchers believe it really just boils down to something as simple but hugely misunderstood as low stomach acid. I'm just looking for ways to lower my Hashi antibodies.

Daza, it does look like an amazing machine! Like the Martians brought it ;-) Seriously though, what a smart smart thing! Does it bake bread like the traditional bread maker in which you put the ingredients in a certain order, leave it and the bread will be ready in a few hours? edited by Chocobella on 19/05/2014

Izzy I know all the alternatives to pizza, but I crave the bread, the damned bread! :-( As to why, I see so much GF recipe traffic on the internet that it seems improbable none of the food serving shops have tapped into it. There really are recipes that make pizza look exactly like the real thing. Hence my search. Problem comes when we are going out and hubs and baby refuse to eat pizza if I won't :-( edited by Chocobella on 19/05/2014

Thanks Izzy. I see some fab recipes online for gluten free pizza but it's way too many things to gather. Gluten free on a shoestring is where I saw this http://glutenfreeonashoestring.com/gf-pizza-dough/. Was wondering if there might be some place that would do this. I agree, gluten free bread is just terrible. I wasted 20 AED on one from Organic Foods trying so hard to pick out one without too much of starches and gums and came home with just a terrible, terrible loaf of something. That said, tried some gluten free bread at Bystro, right next to Jones the grocer in Al Manara, and it wasn't too bad.

Thanks disastrous d. I've tried NKD's gluten free and found it disastrous :-) That's why I said 'closest to the real thing'. I do believe there are outlets here that serve gluten free food. 800 Pizza does gluten free pasta and pizza but have not tried yet. I was wondering if there is a gluten free pizza that might be really close to the fluffy bread-y pizza. That's the one thing I am missing really bad on my gluten free journey. edited by Chocobella on 19/05/2014

Acid reflux/ acidity is NOT too much acid, it is a sign of too little acid in the stomach. The OTC acidity meds only exacerbate the problem. 2 tablespoon Raw Apple Cider vinegar through the day ( half tablespoon in 400 ml water each time) and watch your 'acidity' disappear. As a hypothyroid patient I've suffered from low stomach acid and resultant acid reflux for years, downed innumerable bottles of Gaviscone and it always came back. 2 months on ACV and I am acidity free. Low stomach acid also results in nutrients not being absorbed by your body. So it helps to take your supplements with ACV water and also before meals. Please read this: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2014/04/28/acid-reflux-ulcer-treatment.aspx?e_cid=20140428Z2_DNL_art_1&utm_source=dnl&utm_medium=email&utm_content=art1&utm_campaign=20140428Z2&et_cid=DM43971&et_rid=501759190 Raw ACV with mother is available in most hypermarkets. If you want organic it's available at Organic Foods. edited by Chocobella on 01/05/2014

I've tried the organic milk sold by Organic store. The taste was exactly the same as the ones available in Carrefour etc. I should think though, that hormones and antibiotics would not be allowed here. The best milk and milk products are from grass fed cows though. edited by Chocobella on 27/03/2014

Thank you for the heads up Dubaidesertbear. I will start it hopefully by Sunday. My weight has been a huge issue so I hope it works for me. It's given me a right jolt. I have absolutely no history of diabetes in my family so this has been a right shocker. But I'm grateful at least now I know why I was not losing weight and even with diet and exercise was piling on weight.

Reviving this old thread seeking help. I am asking the same question as Nutellagirl. Does anyone know of any doctor who is willing to try NDT like ERFA, Armour and Nature Thyroid? I know that it is possible to get these meds online, but does anyone know of any doctor here who is willing to work with them? Many thanks!

Talia8089, Thank you. I'll go there and have a look. In my experience so far, and this may help someone, 18x18 inches/45x45 cm cushion fillers usually come with their own cover. So if you just want those covers and not the cushion that is ridiculously expensive, you might have a tough time finding cheaper cushion fillers to fill them covers. edited by Chocobella on 26/12/2013

Really Trublu? Amazon flat out says it can't ship cod live oil capsules here! In fact it says that for everything except books and dvds. May I ask what was the worth of your order please? I know for sure that clothing/lingerie from UK has a limit of 1000AED and over that amount, you have to pay customs.

My experience, Hummingbird bakery was a real let down. I waited for the opening of HBB with bated breath but they turned out to be so ordinary. Waste of money for me. Same for Bloomingdales, Sweet lane, Hey sugar, Sugar daddy (I think) Massive disappointments. I've tried several places in Dubai, nothing comes close to Kitsch. If there was one word for them, I'd say Fresh! Amazing flavour and to die for icing. Kitsch is always the same gorgeous cupcakes, so a big thumbs up for consistent quality too. edited by Chocobella on 13/10/2013

My delight Fairfield! Like I said, I am not big on exercise but just Daniel's voice gets me so motivated! And then to watch Kelly! Ultimate persuasion! Not to mention the various lengths of videos, 5-7 minutes, 12-15 minutes, 20-30 minutes, 40 and then 1 hour and 30 minutes. I watch them first to see what I will be able to do, then incorporate them in my routine- warm up-cardio-arms/legs/abs-cool down. Usually done in just over an hour and feel super after!! There are long full body Tabata workouts, and short cardio, abs, butt workouts. SO much variety I totally love them! :-) ETA: fabulous stretching routines too! edited by Chocobella on 07/10/2013

I am loving these guys! http://www.fitnessblender.com/ Warm ups, cool downs, low/medium intensity cardio, strength, HIIT you name it, they have it all! I'm not big on exercise and I actually miss the workouts on my off days. Can be done at home. Daniel hand holds you through each routine and each exercise and Kelly is a dream to watch, SO inspiring!! She has the body I want. They also have a lot of myth busting and inspiring videos that help majorly with expectations. I have major thyroid issues because of which I have not lost weight despite diet and exercise but ever since I started with these guys, there is a definite difference in my shape, I have much more balance. Oh, and the videos are free. Don't download them though, play them every time so they get more views. They are amazing and this is the least we can do to contribute. I play it on Apple tv and it's like having a personal trainer. LOVE them! They have an FB page too. edited by Chocobella on 07/10/2013

I've had this issue for as long as I can remember. On a friend's recommendation I tried Lush, their purple shampoo bar, and while it worked like magic stripping away the grease, it also stripped my already fine hair of body and resulted in flyaway hair. I then tried their blue shampoo bar, that weighed my hair down so it clung to my scalp. Finally, and this works wonderfully, Lush Big shampoo that comes in a jar and Retread conditioner. Makes my hair free of grease, but does not weigh them down, nor makes them light and flyaway, just clean, fresh, beautifully scented hair. I keep sniffing them lol! Usually stays that way for at least 3 days. Another thing I noticed was, my hair is curly and fine, and tend to puff up as curls do, which is great for my falling out hair, and after a night of sleep, with any other shampoo no matter how much they get lifted up and volumized, they tend to stick to my scalp in limp waves the next day. With Big, they retain their bounce even after a couple of days of wash. Brilliant stuff! edited by Chocobella on 25/09/2013
