lamali replied : My deepest respect (and often sympathies) to those who have children. Funny, there is no respect in what you have written, when you call mothers 'breeders' and 'servants to other people' who you often have 'sympathy' for. Your reply simply means they, meaning the breeders, are below you and you detest them. How hypocrytical to state your opinion with " My deepest respect..."

Thanks everyone. I am not sure the smoky flavor is what I am after, but that IS the authentic taste, so will definitely consider it. What are the prices like of the machines you have? And where do you get coal from?

Thanks pollydxb I don't expect it to be used more than once or twice a week and hence my hesitation in spending a fortune. But will definitely give it a dekko. edited by Chocobella on 29/03/2012

I get lower back pain during ovulation, that is what reminds me that I am ovulating. Never have cramps though, but the pain in my lower back needs OTC painkiller. If it is a sudden development, maybe see a gyno. Always best to clear all doubts.

I *love* Beebers, typos and all. Hugs girlie! Chocs, nothing substantial to add, but just thinking if these people are going to bring in the police at the drop of a hat, and you cannot afford anyone looking in, maybe just move? Back home, the same dog poo controversy is raging in our gated community. I think perhaps it is best to train your pets to poo in your garden or a corner of your apartment and take them out walking separately. I am not a dog owner so I wouldn't really know if this was doable, but well, my two.

Can RERA help? Or can DEWA help if we report that the electricity was on before we opened an account?

Unfortunately we already have AB. Now we just want to see where our reading starts from. The whole lot managing the building lead by the manager were dodging showing us the reading telling us lies that they were just coming back with the key to the electricity room till finally the manager came in and told us that it was not possible as it is confidential. Can RERA help?

Thanks for your response. Thing is, our apartment that we have just rented was rented by someone who did not use it for most of the tenancy and the main door was apparently forcefully opened to open and clean the apartment for us to move in, the result being the lock not working and damage to the door so we know this for sure. When we came in, electricity was already on BEFORE we got Dewa connection in our name, and we were told that it will start only on the day we open an account with Dewa as, as per the building manager, the old tenant had closed his account, which is obviously not the case. When we asked if we could see the meter reading, we were told it is confidential. Is this true? We were told that DEwa person had come to see the meter reading when the old tenant's account was closed but since electricity was already on before we started an account with Dewa we suspect we will be paying the old tenant's bills. Could anyone help please?

Sanzeveria, the receipt says parcel was stopped for CIF and found online that " In U.A.E, Customs duty is calculated on CIF value at the rate of 5 % here http://www.aamrofreight.com/service-details/?service_id=10. Skykitty, that is crazy! Louisedvs, this does sound encouraging but I am quite scared to tempt fate. Could it be that as all items, 6 items were clothing so was considered commercial? Can I go to the post office to clarify why it was charged or they won't help? I'm a bit scared of the people in the PO.

Same here Cleopatra, DH is not sold on Ikea at all! I am not sure of their wood as well, especially as some of their better known names scratch rather easily like Leksvik. I love the idea of saving space and extending only when required especially coz the Stornas http://www.ikea.com/ae/en/catalog/products/20176847/#/20176847 can easily seat 8 when extended. But DH is worried about how well the wood will bear the extending and compressing, scratches, chipping. In my experience Ikea wood looks solid but chips easily. In a fix myself. hope you can find what you are looking for. Or get it made like AB suggests, you would get the exact measurements you want too.

Am presently considering one at Home Center, square table for 8, 1.5x1.5 meter or approx 5x5 ft. Has a glass square in the middle about 1.2x1.2 ft. Really good looking wood and chairs included. Also considering Ikea extendable one http://www.ikea.com/ae/en/catalog/products/20176847/. There is another one that is smaller than this http://www.ikea.com/ae/en/catalog/products/90182307/#/30116264. I am not so sure about how good Ikea wood is though. Sorry for sounding like I am talking to myself, need to make a decision myself asap as delivery times are crazy. But definitely HC has a more solid looking wood, not brown/black though. edited by Chocobella on 06/03/2012 edited by Chocobella on 06/03/2012

Absolutely my pleasure Beebers!! You have been so amazingly helpful to everyone. Really admire that and deeply thankful. The best would be to go across to UK, have a fitting with Bravissimo and see your life change the moment you walk out of their shop :-). Next best, call them, they will ask questions about your present bra fit and then recommend the size. May not be 100%, they put me in 34G when I called them some 5 years back, I eventually settled with 32GG as I like my bands snug. So they weren't really off. They are super in every way!! Customer service is simply wonderful! I would also suggest to have a look at their fitting video on the website, a huge help too. Good luck! :-) x

I *love* you Beebers!!! We should have a "Ask Beebers" thread! Better still, you should blog girl! I agree with you. I think just being honest without actually knowing if the other side is being honest or taking you for a ride is not particularly bright and rather naive. And if there is no other way out of the logjam, uncertainity can kill you! So Khatoon, step back, give some time, space and love to yourself. It will be hard because what you crave is time, space and love with him. But, look at it this way, by not giving in to the relationship, he is putting himself first. Smart woman will do the same, till such time as you are sure of the commitment from the other side. This is not playing games, this is survival.

Hi Marie D thank you so much for this! How did you go about the contract signing? Did everything go smoothly? We are renting for the first time and are very nervous as the bank won't hear of any changes in the contract. Have you renewed yet and was it smooth? They are not budging on the rent at 100k 4chks even though the the agents are are putting up ads for 90 K every day on dubizzle. Plus the agents are misleading us with half truths as well as lies. I fell in love with building as soon as we stepped in. But is 100k the going rent there? Would you mind sharing how much are you paying? It's really ok if you'd rather not. Many many thanks!!! Bless!!

Hi Pollydxb,it stands on the right of Manchester Tower, it's owned by Masref Bank, the bank is in the front and it has a side enterance to the residences. Our contract will be with the bank as they are the owners but they are very rigid about price and contract terms. It seems they will not consider ANY change in the contract. This is the only apartment that we liked after searching all over Dubai :-( Does anyone have any idea or feedback about this building? I will be so grateful!!

This will take a little time but tastes lovely. Take 1 each of red, yellow and green pepper, half a zucchini, 2 handfulls mushrooms(any), baby corn, small aubergine, 2 small red onions and slice into strips which are neither too thick nor too thin. In a pan, heat a little olive oil. Add onion and saute till transparent. Add salt and mushrooms and cover and let them sweat. Once the mushrooms have lost heir volume, add the zucchini, the aubergine and corn and mix well, cover and cook for a few minutes till they are tender but not cooked through. Then add the peppers. Cover cook till all the veggies are cooked through and mushy because they will need to spread onto the bread. The aubergine will make the filling creamy. Adjust salt, add crushed black pepper, dried oregano or Italian seasoning, a tablepoon of dark soy sauce and a pinch of sugar. Spread a little pesto on the bread, spread this filling, grill and serve. This can be made ahead and kept in the fridge for emergency hunger fix too. I usually make the sandwich with fresh mozzarella or processed cheese, you could even try goat's cheese when you are making it for yourself or anyone who doesn't mind. Hope it's of help.

Ok so there are no 2 years contracts? So when you renew after a year, the LL cannot increase the rent for the next year unless the properties around are letting at higher prices? Is my understanding correct or have I missed something?
