I'd encourage people to look into Three Men and a Truck. I can speak from experience that they've been a good local and international option and I would definitely use them again if I was moving. cheaper than most too.
I'd probably only rent to other women or families if I were in your shoes. I might consider some sort of short term rental contract too so that you have some legal recourse if they wreck the place for some reason.
The two biggest points have already been covered. It's very hot and very much a retirement area. Not really one of the crown jewels of southern california, but probably one of the more affordable bigger cities there.
Is there any reason you're doing it before you move? Or do you mean you're leaving temporarily and going back? If you're moving any decent distance, I'd probably suggest waiting until after you move to get them reupholsterd.
