I received an email saying it will be postponed...but they are refunding the money which is as good as being canceled. This is the email received: [i'>“It is with great regret that Picnic on the Park scheduled for 8th April 2011 at Dubai Media City has had to be postponed due to unexpected circumstances which are out of our control. We are looking to reschedule the event as soon as possible. All tickets purchased will be refunded via the respective outlets with our sincere apologies." I double checked with my DH and unfortunately they only seem to do the renewals there as the clinic doesn't do x-rays, which is required for the first visa...sorry ladies. I guess than you will have to go to one of the not so nice places like Satwa. Requirements: passport copy DH, salary certificate DH, 2 passport fotos you, cash. Process: Typing centre, medical and once the report comes back immigration. There is one at the Dnata building on SZR. Good Luck...I am fortunate that my DH is all into this so only tag along generally.

Cleopatra, I really feel for my son and want some friends for him. He gets so excited in malls when he see''s other children. I feel if I don't do something I will be depriving him, also I am not working so I should make a better effort. But I really find it difficult to meet people here with children of similar age group. Look like this is the best place for that! :) It's a bit like me, so hopefully with EW we can change this. Where is your location?

Unfortunately Lamzy is a bit too far for me. The Marina would be better, but you are right it seems extremely pricey. Has anyone ever tried the soft play area on Sheikh Zayed Road. I think it's called Little Monsters or something.

What is the world coming to. In my country school busses are still the norm and it is save to take them. However saying that, it's extremely rare that children are alone on the bus as each bus stop is kind of a collective one. I think it is sad that parents or any attendant has to go in the bus when the children are just starting to get a little bit of indepence. From my point of view I would prefer for a much better history check of the drivers to be put in place. <em>edited by Cleopatra on 08/02/2011</em>

Oops, sorry for the late response, but I'm only on EW when at work and when it's busy I don't get a chance anymore. Anyways, the clinic is literally right behind the Union Coop and Choithrams, so just behind Al Wasl.

I went with my DH to the Government Clinic on Al Wasl Road. There you do your medical as well as the Visa as they have an immigration officer onsite. The whole process took less than 3 hours (the medical results take 2 hours so we left and came back after). Because my DH is very organised and dealt with all the paperwork, so don't remember what's required.

It seems to be the norm that children don't get paid. My little sister does ballet, had 5 performances in a big theatre and my mum had to pay for the ballet lessons, the costum, invest an awful lot of time driving her back and forth to rehersals as well as the actual performances and in addition had to pay for the theatre tickets to watch her on stage and this was back in Europe.

Got mine a very nice one at Zoppini at Burjuman Mall. Unfortunately the shop has closed down, but there is one at the Outlet Mall and definately in some other malls in Dubai. There was a shop in IBN Battuta, I think it was called Elements and they have some lovely stuff for guys. It's not silver but stainless stell. It looks great and it never tarnishes. My DH loves the stuff.

Oh there were plenty so here are just the ones I had a conversation with: Don Johnson - absolutely wonderful guy and so much fun Madonna - extremely snotty Guy Ritchie - great guy and so good with kids Tom Hanks - a bit reserved Pierce Brosnan - met him with a great hangover so not the most talkative ;) Rowan Atkinson - wow, nothing like Mr. Bean, even the look is completely different in real life

Yay, I wonder how much longer people will put up with the price hikes. A lot of us are mid-range earners and came to save, but at this rate what is there to save? No more cooking - gas too expensive No more showers - water too expensive No more drinking - alcohol way too expensive etc etc etc

This is true, but I don't know if this is the case for all parks. My friend was asked to obtain a permit for Zabeel Park. And was told to get this via the Park's Administration office which is onsite. He also mentioned that another alternative was the municipality. It has to be obtained a couple of days before and of course they want some money for it. As this process is fairly new, I guess one have to be patient as I'm certain there is no protocol in place yet. Good luck and enjoy the party:)

Not sure what type of a Piano you are looking for but we rent ours through De Gallus Instruments. Always been very helpful and have a good reputation renting through many of the expat schools. You can drop them an email at [email protected]. Good Luck!! I'm actually looking for a second-hand one but until I fine one have to go for rental again. I'd prefer if the first option comes along quicker though.

Turning Pointe Music http://www.turningpointe.ae/music-department.html do hire and sale of Pianos and the prices are very reasonable, plus they are very honest!! Something that can't be taken for granted in Dubai!! You were right very nice people, but they don't have the type of piano I am looking for :( I shall carry on looking and with a bit of luck I might find a second hand one. Strangely enough there used to be loads on Dubizzle and there are none now.

There is a customer service thing set up - their number is in most shops now, perhaps someone knows the number. You mean it's a customer service complaint line? Haven't heard of it before. I'm so upset that if my mood will not change I'm going to the police after work. Surely if I ask a question to have clarification for an answer this answer must be worth something, especially when asked several times.

I know many of you like the different section but I for one liked it all together. I read the threads I'm interested in and leave the others. Now, one has to go to the main menu and go into the next section...this way the exposure to certain subjects is very little and answers come in sparse :(

Easyjet's website says you can't BF on take-off and landing but it doesn't say anything about having to face forward. I fed DS on take-off and landing both flights over Christmas, though, and even when the crew walked past they didn't say anything. I don't remember any such rule from when I worked for EK. But I do remember several crew members who seemed to make up their own rules and try to apply them so I'd have to go and smooth things over! I always breastfed our LO at take-off and landing but find it hilarious that easyjet would say no. I guess one might have to pay extra to be allowed to do that :)

Plan toys are selling a wooden one, I believe there is a little market stall at the Marina Mall. And if I remember rightly they mentioned something about the speed of the wheel can be adjusted. Not sure how true this is though. I myself got a very sturdy one from Tomy which was bought at the Toystore.

The likelyhood of you beeing pregnant is quite large and I can only agree with happymommy. However you shouldn't stress yourself. I'm sure you are a great mum now and if there is second one you will grow into the role of being a great mum for two. Women are designed to cope with this and are great in gaining more and more strength. Having had one miscarriage is no indication for further ones. I had experieced the same but fell pregnant again soon after and 9 months later I could welcome our beautiful little baby. So don't let it scare you as it is not the norm. Wishing you all the best!
