Wow Tattie Bogle & Quikchange I didn't realise that. I too have misplaced my degree certificate , and was going to look into it getting a replacement & getting it attested in the summer. May I ask, if you get a job under your DH sponsorship , or change in job title, will it affect salary vastly?

Today is week 2 for me, so I'm still a newbie. I actually started from last night 10pm onwards. I prefer to eat the bulk of my calorie allowance with my evening meal with the family. So I'm aiming at 200 during the day in low cal snacks & 300 main meal around 6pm. I'm playing around with it a bit so I can find a system that suits me. The other days I follow the weight watchers plan, and use my weekly treat allowances for the weekend, when we almost always tend to go out.

I do, but only a quick rinse in cold water. Not so much that it goes all white and mushy though.....what would be the point of eating red meat then :)

I only did one day this week and even that I didn't plan very well, so I had quite a few hunger pangs mid afternoon and late evening. Breakfast: Green mint tea & one apple 80 cals Lunch: Cup-A soup Cream of chicken & 2 Rice Cakes 120 cals Mid afternoon snack: Fat free yoghurt 51cals Dinner: Recipe from Lavender & Lovage ( love that site!) Hungarian Savoury Minced Beef with Cabbage & Carrots approx 220 (as I couldn't bring myself to eat more than a few bites of the savoy cabbage! & I didn't add the wine) Tea with splash of milk & 2 sweetners ? cals Prob went a little over the 500 cals, but I'm hoping to plan better for the coming week, as I hate getting hunger pangs!

Thank you for the replies. I've watched the programme and wow! I've decided I want to follow this plan, mainly for the health reasons suggested in the programme, even though weight loss will be an added bonus :D Plus, looking at what some people eat, it's actually pretty doable. Did any of you have blood tests taken prior to starting this plan to check your IGF levels? Or, have you had blood tests taken whilst on the plan for IGF, cholesterol levels? That would be interesting to know..... As for exercise, it makes sense to not top up, as Pinks said. I think on the days I'm fasting, I'll skip the exercise, just to see how I feel for now, then take it from there. Thank You once again ladies, gosh I learn so much from EW :) ETA: How do you ladies feel within yourself after following this plan? edited by coco pops on 15/01/2013

Hi Ladies, I've been following this thread and the other, where the links were posted. I must say I am interested, DH watched the Horizons programme last night and I'm going to watch it tonight. I'm a bit confused , do you fast for 2 consecutive days in a row, or can you fast any two days? I thought Mon & Wed would be ideal for me.... Also, if you exercise on that day and burn say 200 calories, would/could you add it to the calories available to consume? Thank you so much to the posters who added the links, and given meal ideas. You've shown me how "doable" it can be. :)

I sent my LO to Golden Beach Nursery for a little while and they provided breakfast and lunch. I think it was just cereals for breakfast ( I'm not too sure, as my LO used to have breakfast from home) They are located in Umm Suqiuem (?) road opp Jumeirah Beach Hotel. http://goldenbeachnursery.com/ HTH

Gosh I struggle with the early starts here too! I'm not a very nice person at 6 in the morning, and as much as I'd love to wake at 5.30am so I can "wake up" and be all "bright eyed and bushy tailed" for my kids....I just can't drag myself out of bed. One of my new years resolutions though is to sleep earlier, so hopefully I'll become a morning person soon :) Back in the UK, my LO's used to wake up at 8am and be in school for 8.45! Didn't even have to prepare packed lunches in the winter & spring, as they preferred hot school dinners :)

Thanks Beebers for sharing, I love and rate your determination & commitment. I started on Weightwatchers (again!) in December at the same time as the 30 day shred with some girllfriends in the UK. It's kind of kept me motivated as we share our daily antics over whatsapp. It's been a struggle and with 3 stones to lose I've only lost 5lbs (2.5KG?) in 5 weeks, but then I had been indulging over Christmas :) But, it's sooooo hard, & at times it is disheartening, when all I've lost is a pound in a week even with all the exercise & healthy eating. Makes me want to stuff my face with chocolate and buttercream cupcakes!!!! ( & I think of those often even dream of them!) Wish I had the willpower you have! Here's hoping I shed my excess in 2013!

Make sure it does come with a padded bra, or remember to wear a bikini underneath....I paid 395 for mine and it didn't have the padding, so spent most of the day walking around with my arms crossed :-(

Right now I'm sat on the couch "chilling" after having sent the children with DH on a desert picnic. I could have gone with them, but I chose to stay at home , on my own, in my pyjamas. There's plenty for me to do around the house...but for now I'm enjoying the peace and quiet ;) I try to take an hour out each day for myself, whether it's going for a walk, reading a book or watching telly. We all deserve it :)

I know this is a really OLD advert lol but it's something your MIL could perhaps look into? Maybe then she could buy another handset and send it to you to use too? Other than that I can't think of another way for your DH to skype other than buy a new handset lol ETA ....the link would be helpful! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=Iv42UMOnGWU edited by coco pops on 10/10/2012

Ok I asked DH & we had a basic Tesco's phone which connected to the internet, thus enabling anyone with skype to call us free.....however, we never used it (!!!) so I can't help you further I'm afraid. DH did buy DS a 3G Pay as you go mobile phone with the Skype function, so, whenever we needed to call him, or vice versa, as long as we were logged into Skype it worked. We never really put any credit onto his phone though, as it wasn't needed for the Skype calls. I know there are ways around it in the UK, I'm not too sure about Australia though. Sorry I hope I haven't confused you more Wuffles.

I know in the UK you could buy Skype phones, which can also be used as landline phones too(?) I'm not too sure how it works, I can ask DH when he gets in from work...maybe the same or similar may be available there?

Have you considered Makaton? It's also a form of sign language using signs and symbols. www.makaton.org I found this easier to pick up, and my DS picked it up quite quickly too. The BBC do a wonderful children's programme called "Something Special" which incorporates all the makaton signs too, but, I'm not sure how you'd access them here, other than watching them on your pc. I'm not sure about courses in AD, but your best bet would perhaps be to ask a Speech Therapist there? Not sure if I've been of any help lol!

As Turnip suggested All4DS is the best place to start. They have three groups 0-5, 6-13 & 13+ ( if I remember correctly). I know the 0-5 group are quite active in meeting up etc with their little ones. Also, All4DS will be able to advise your friend on the Early Intervention Plan for little ones. They'll be able to recommend Doctors too. If your friend requires any more info, I'm also very happy to help :)

I didn't realise it was normal practice in the UK myself! My eldest son went from FS2 to Year 6 with the same classmates. I'm glad it was this way personally. They all still mixed and became good friends with some of the other children in the other classes though. As for secondary school, I thought it was usual for them to have the same form/tutor group, but then split up for individual lessons, according to what group they were in. Hmmm, that means my youngest in FS2 will have a new set of classmates each year then too. I agree with the poster who said it's harder on the parents though. We should see it as extending our social circle ;)

I've taken my children for x-rays at the Iranian hospital, and while it doesn't appear to be a modern hospital ,it is cheap and the staff were polite enough ( taking language barriers into consideration). It reminded me of the old hospitals in the UK, just very very busy. They have a private/fast track service to beat the queues, I think ( and don't quote me) it was around Aed 250 to be seen quickly ( I'm sure this included consultation with the doctor) Parking is a bit of a nightmare.
