We r planning to move either Sydney or Melbourne ... Can someone plz advise me on teaching requirements. If i do cache level3 from Dubai, will it b helpful? Also, is there safety deposit boxes ( lockers) facilities there n approx. how much? Thnkxxx I can only tell about melbourne that safety deposit boxes are available in major banks and they have long waiting lists (6 months plus atleast) in cbd area. You would need to go with private companies who provide this service and should expect to pay atleast 100 dollars more than what a bank would charge for same service. E.g. bank might charge 164 dollars for a yearly rental for the smallest size ..a private company might charge 276 dollars for the same size box yearly rental. If you do plan to arrive with valuables and need something urgent then budget to cough up that much money there is no other way. Also no bank answers call here so if you want to find availability you would have to go from branch to branch physically to enquire and put your name down. Hope it helps. Hi, Can u plzz give me some contact num or websites for private agencies that offer safety lockers services as we are planning to travel with the valuables. Also, is it safe to walk around in Melbourne or sydney with jewlry? Or we its not recommended. TIA Guardian vaults is a big private company with branch in both sydney and melbourne. I am not sure what you mean by walking around with jewellery? I have not seen anyone flashing their wealth and jewelery over here so I am not sure how safe it would be if you plan to do it. You can arrive with your valuables and keep them in safety deposit box in your hotel (big hotels offer this service) and then sign up for a box and transfer. You can check sizes of boxes available and rates on the Guardian vaults website. In sydney there are other private companies also. Options are limited in melbourne. Google for "private companies safety deposit box"

Cbd offers this service to individuals and you don't need to keep millions in the bank. All you need to do is open a current account with them (if you are not working, then open it in your husband's name)... Then the safety deposit box would be attached to that bank account and it could be a joint box. Dubai islamic bank also offer this service but only to emiratis. So cbd is your best bet if you are not an emirati. Enquire on phone in which branches they have availability of box and then take it from there.

Stretch marks are not going to go away..they might fade a bit depending on your skin color but they are here to stay. For potty training I have never started before both my boys turned 3. At that age it was just a week of potty accidents and everything got settled really quickly. Much less hassle than if you start early.

Nmc speciality qusais is quite affordable compared to other private hospitals for a straight forward normal delivery. City hospiral is near the top end price wise.

I am from Sydney, so am contractually obligated to say that it is better than Melbourne ? Both cities have large Muslim populations, so I don't think that needs to dictate your choice. I would be more focused on where you would be more likely to be able to find work. You will be able to find halal food without any problems. In Sydney, suburbs like Rockdale/Hurstville/Arncliffe, Lakemba/Bankstown spring to mind as having large established Muslim communities. This link might be helpful http://www.living-in-sydney.com/muslims-in-sydney-Australia.html You should be aware that housing, particularly in Sydney (and then, particularly in the 15-20km radius of the city), is extremely expensive. Both the rental and purchasing market are eye-watering at the moment. My understanding is that Melbourne is heading in the same direction but isn't quite as bad as Sydney just yet. The suburb that I currently live in is about 12km from the city and rent for a 2bdr apartment is rapidly approaching AUD $600/wk. The lifestyle in both cities is good, albeit different. Very generally, Sydney is a coastal town with a beach lifestyle, whereas Melbourne has lots of interesting alleyways and a cafe and wine bar culture that has sprung up around the laneways. Of course, you can find lots of cafes and small bars in Sydney, but only in certain pockets. Hi little penguin! Sorry to hijack this thread But we also are considering moving to Australia but specifically to Adelaide. Have you ever been there? any information would be great! How are the schools? And it is true that children only get free education starting at the age of 5? How expensive is it? And how's the average salary or rent for a family of 3? Are part time jobs common or just like here? Thank you! We have visited adelaide and liked it. It's a smallish city, slow paced life and not crazy crowded like melbourne but the job market is very poor. Difficult to find jobs, especially stable jobs. My brother used to live there but finally moved after almost a year full of unemployment and contract jobs. He is much more settled in NT. If you have a choice consider other bigger cities like sydney and melbourne for your first time move where you can get employed quickly. If there is no choice then budget for supporting yourself until you could find work which could be 6 months depending on the job you are after.

Hi ladies, I have few queries 1- is it a better idea to move to Australia the first time after getting PR or just stay there for few days, look around n thn make a final move. 2- How about the housing cost for 4 ppl ( 2 kids n 2 adults) .. ( Sydney n Melbourne ) 3- Good areas for muslims where halal food is easily available. ( in Melbourne) Which is better ? Sydney or Melbourne? Ur feedback will be highly beneficial for me. TIA No one can answer your first question for you. It depends on your particular situation. Some people prefer to migrate straight after getting pr. Some validate and come back to save some money before the final move or are not just ready for the move yet. 2. Housing costs you can better get an idea on realestate.Com. au and domain.Com. sydney rentals are expensive than melbourne rentals but there have been a substantial increase in melbourne rentals in last one year and it seems to be on a climb as victoria economy is going strong. 3.Coburg, burnswick is a real easy area full of halal food outlets. Every other shop is either a halal restaurant or butchery or grocery on sydney road but I don't think I would like to live there. Did not get a good feel while there recently. So many Arabs roaming around . We were advised not to look for rentals in that part in melbourne (it's called north? I think) But halal food is not a problem in general in melbourne cbd but ofcourse some suburbs have more options than others.

I have insurance and I need to pick a package from their list. Al zahar, Astor at jlt and mediclinic at inn battuta are on there which all seem fairly near by. gynae dr at aster jlt or mediclinic ibn battuta might not be able to do the delivery in a hospital but they can definitely provide antenatal care. better if you look for doctors who are either working at your preferred hospital (in your insurance network) or work in some clinic(included in your insurance network) but deliver at your preferrred hospital. I prefer the first option. so all your records, appointments and labs are in the same place. you can find many recommendations for doctors of al zahra barsha and decide which one you want to see and book by calling. city hospital, american hospital , al zahra are popular for maternity . medcare al safa is suppose to be good too.

If your insurance covers maternity then you don't need to look for packages. You can choose any doctor for antenatal care and delivery ..as long as the clinic/hospital is included in the network of your insurance prover. If you do no have insurance cover for maternity then start looking at maternity packages of hospitals near you. Medcare al safa, al Zahra offer packages usually listed on website.

I would recommend dr marc Sinclair. We consulted him for our DS's uneven walking. Only problem is be is very hard to get first appointment for, as along with clinic at children's medical center (I think that's the name) he does go for treating children in war ravaged countries. ( last time we tried to book him he was due to leave shortly for Syria). We loved his friendly and warm attitude during the appointment and his advice proved excellent. Would highly recommend him for a second opinion.

Thank you for the replies ! I will check here in the Uk about having them done privately - though i heard there are strict regulations regarding giving these early. Does anyone recommend a particular clinic / hospital in dubai to get these ? I will be living in sports city just two minutes from victory heights. Thanks I would rather have them done on time in dubai than having them early. Paying out of pocket for vaccinations is a norm for most people here in dubai. I go to mediclinic al sufouh to get them done as that's where my kids regular pediatrician is but medcare hospital al safa is good too and not as pricey as mediclinic for vaccinations.

Just bring your vaccination card and you can see a pediatrician to get the Shots done here in a private clinic. Depending on your health insurance policy you might have to pay out of your pocket. Vaccinations are very easy to get done here. Just inquire over phone about cost and procedure in your nearest clinic. You can also compare your vaccination schedule with dubai vaccination schedule on DHA website.

We went for umrah also few years back and the only place I was not in an abaya was on my flight to saudia. Would recommend an abaya for your entire visit including airport transit. If you have a daughter consider some abaya or prayer clothes for her in the Holy cities as my friend's daughter was only 4 and she was harassed by other ladies for dressing her up in half-sleeve tops and pants.

I would advise against it unless the item you are selling is hard to sell in dubai. I have successfully sold things since many years on dubizzle. You need to be a bit realistic with your price and market it well with helpful description and photos and it goes in a week if not in a few days. Scam happens on dubizzle also. Always deal in person and try to sell locally.

Like Daza we stay here for summer and never do summer camps. After non stop school runs until late in June we are all exhausted for any more summer camps and go with a slower pace. Near by parks and community pool or ocassional mall visit is all we do. If you have outdoor space in your home evening are pretty manageable for some wet fun. Although the going gets a bit tough near the end of august if all our friends are away for summer. You could come and see how it goes and then may be look for summer camps as needed but pick ups and drop offs are quite a struggle in mid summer heat.

Hello All, We decided to change schools for our two children and just registered for the upcoming year. We paid a deposit plus handed over all prewritten checks for the three terms. I wanted to ensure there would be no additional 'surprises', and was told there could be a tuition increase, as those were the current year fees- yet to be decided, no telling when. Is this the norm? I cant imagine why they cannot figure out what any increase would be now and have us poor parents pay once already. We are budgeting like everyone else and quite frankly the school fees were a factor. Thanks moms in the know? Don't know which curriculum school you are referring to but we were notified about tentative fee increase for next academic year for our uk curriculum school, this March. From my past experience schools here increase fee every yeae . The percentage of increase is dependent on their khda rating from previous year. Our 'good' rating school increased fee last year as well and would be increasing this year also. Tentative fee is announced already ..I think after getting approval from khda they would announce the final number before school close in June.

we have only been to friday brunches ( a bit of co-incidence really). they have a separate kids buffet on fridays but there was not much on offer there. grown up buffet had a lot of choice, mostly asian inspired main dishes. restaurant itself was loud and compact. we sat inside and the live entertainment was too loud. may be it was specific to brunch but we did not enjoy and have not gone back since. there is no problem with service or food. Salads and deserts were good. if you need non-alcoholic then drinks menu is very limited. they also have an adjoining kids movie room to keep kids busy for a while.

I wouldn't recommend Dermacare. They are over aggressive and cut 26 freckles/moles out of me. I looked like I had been shot in the back! (And of course each one cost hundreds of dirhams) When I later saw a second dermatologist she told me that at most I may have needed 3 or 4 removed based on my skin type and other marks. Mole mapping and monitoring is key... I would recommend Dr Julianne Reuter but not sure what clinic she is based at these days... Dr julienne is at blue tree clinic on al wasl/beach road.

I am not a fan of huge and heavy travel systems which are so difficult to get in and out of a car. Have always used maclaren umbrella fold strollers. Maclaren techno xlr and quest are both suitable from birth and a great choice for with in city or travelling. Xlr can take a car seat so it can work as a travel system as well if that's a priority for you.

We recently researched this and were recommended orbit movers by two of our friends who moved to sydney and melbourne last year. Their quote was reasonable. Another movers on our short list is DASA because we have excellent experience with them for our many local moves and they have local offices in main cities in australia which means advantage of same company handling your stuff on both ends. Only downside , they are expensive!

We already pay airport fee for our home country departure airport plus crazy terminal prices. So this is not new to me but I am not sure if we were not already paying this fee hidden somewhere in the ticket? whenever buying ticket ..if my family is only doing a transfer on dubai airport ticket fare is atleast 1000 dhs cheaper than if they decide to stop over to see me for few days!

Renewing our DD Emirates ID card today. We have been told, by someone in DH company that we have to supply a 'certificate of singleness' for her. Basically saying she is not married. We were told to go to the Dubai Court, which we did. Lady at the counter had to check with a colleague and then told us they only did them for Muslims and that our own British Consulate would do it for us. I called the British Embassy here and was told that we have to just supply a 'No Objection' letter and that this is available on the site. I have read this 'No Objection letter' on the site and please correct me if I am wrong but this does not mention anything to do with being unmarried/single. I really hate when they change things here and hardly anyone seems to know anything about them. Please has anyone experienced this or know anything about it? Sick of spending the day driving from place to place. Feel I am banging head against brick wall.:angry: Hi cannot say about UAE but i am sure my parents use to produce this being 'single' certificate for my visa renewal in Kuwait after i turned 18 or may be 20?. It's basically to prove that being a single female you are still dependent on your parents for residence so therefore needs a residence visa to stay in Kuwait with them. I am assuming may be they are redirecting you for same for your DD.

I would just say..go with your gut feeling about it. a mother knows! It might turn out nothing at the end but it never hurts to have a listening ear or a sound advice from a professional. I am of the belief that things don't go away on their own something needs to be done about them. We also struggle with different things with our kids just like all other parents out there and sometimes not having someone their to listen or guide, is quite overwhelming for me as a parent. I don't have a recommendation for a psychologist from a personal experience but i have heard loads of radio talks of Dr Saliha Afridi ( the lighthouse arabia) and i feel she would be my go to person if i ever needed help with something. Hope you find a good one.

i luv the tshirt material maxi dresses from Dorothy Perkins... i usually buy online but i presume they are also available in their dubai stores such as Debenhams [url=http://www.dorothyperkins.com/en/dpuk/product/dresses-203543/view-all-dresses-2523253/black-t-shirt-maxi-dress-4653346?bi=0&ps=20'>link[/url'> Alternately, you can order from NEXT DIRECT and they deliver to your door in three days... [url=www.nextdirect.ae '>link[/url'> i prefer not to buy 'maternity dresses' but just normal dresses that i would still be able to use afterwards... this works especially well for the first 7 months of pregnancy when you can grow into it... look for styles that don't fit at the waist such as 'shirt dresses' 'aline dresses' 'shift dresses' etc Thanks for the suggestion. I am still waiting for a debenhams sale here. I'll check out online and also Next direct. Next direct is a local business? and how is their return policy?

All information regarding mandatory vaccinations for australia can be found on the official health website. I was able to search even state wise. Google for it and compare with your current schedule. Last time I checked the only difference was rota virus vaccine ..it is compulsory in australia.. given at 2,4 and 6 month. Apart from that I did not find much difference until 5 yrs age group.

Or maybe get a blow up cushion / neck pillow that you could put your feet on to make it more comfortable. I'm quite short and I miss the foot rests too. I end up using my hand luggage as a foot rest most of the time and everything gets squashed inside the bag!!!! hahhaa i do the same and everything in the bag is so squashed by the end of it  These work a charm  [url=https://www.travelite.org/2011/02/product-review-inflatable-footrest/'>link[/url'> Were you able to buy this inflatable foot rest in dubai? If you had to choose between Horizon International Um Al Sheif and Gems Metropole which one would it be? This will be for Year 1. We are already in Metropole in FS2. I understand both the schools are UK curriculum. I am only looking on reviews about teachers, their experience ,class size, importance given to sports etc TIA Horizon umm sheif Class size is 24 per section max. Each year have only 4 sections. Foundation and primary is good I have no experience of secondary. Lots of importance given to sports as the current principal use to be the head of PE department before. Teachers are qualified, good and all are British (if that is important to you). If you have the offer from there you should accept it. Personally I would chose ANY school over a gems school but that's just me.
