Would recommend clark Francis tennis as well. They have a nice teacher who uses facilities of winchester school (gardens) in evening and on weekends. Nice flexible schedule and very good student teacher ratio.

I can highly recommend Dr Babbita shetty at nmc qusais. I delivered my two babies with her and had very good experience. Many of my friends also delivered with her. She is very pro-natural, even does not recommend epidural and very thorough when it comes to pregnancy management. Hospital is fine, nothing too fancy. Appointment waiting times can be long as she is very busy but otherwise highly recommended.

Usually immigration authorities have specified their designated checkup facilities and you cannot go to random clinics to have it done. You should check that before you go ahead with the check up, Dubai London clinic (festival center) does Immigration related checkups for few countries. Everything is with prior appointment and involves a bit of paper work.

Only on EW could you go from jamming a small turkey into a crock-pot, to ordering one from the Burj Al Arab. :P thanks for all the tips. Ok so I shall be doing the crock pot but ensuring there's enough liquid and also not stuffing it with anything. I'll crisp it up in the oven when we get home, and report back the findings. Would around 8 hours be about right to cook it through do you think? Isn't that the fun bit? ;)

Why not order a pre cooked one from the supermarket or hotels? I have done that twice and then just had to make my own accompaniments as the hotels don't provide enough and their gravy was like water You won't have this complain if you order from burj Al Arab. Gravy is perfect and lot of stuff comes with it including cranberry sauce. You would just need to worry about dessert.

What about medical insurance? Isn't that dependent on residence visa? If your husband's Omani company have some presence in uae, It might be worthwhile to discuss with them the possibility if they can sponsor you here till June? Our friends have done this . DH is working in some other GCC country and they are still in dubai on a residence visa with sponsorship from the new employer.

Lots of questions; I will try to answer as many as I can. 1. What is a PR? Has your husband been offered a job that gets you all an Australian residence visa? Getting that is the hardest part, especially nowaday. 2. If you have this, I think it will be better to apply for work (for you) once you are there. What is your industry? Seek.com.au has jobs and is a commonly used job portal there. 3. Australian companies are like any in the world - some are family friendly and some are not. All offer things like maternity leave, but flex-hours etc. and dependent on the company. 4. Your chld can go to kindergarten or day care before starting prep, but those are really expensive. Many mothers do not work because if they did they would be working just to pay for nursery. Which state are you moving to? A PR is permanent residence visa valid for 5 years with right to work and live in oz with access to Medicare and public schools at the end of which you can apply for australian citizenship. That's what OP meant by migration. On a separate note..is 100,000 salary including super (before tax) enough to survive in a city like Sydney for two adults and two school going kids? What are your thoughts?

june_b, were you actually taught how to park properly, or did they teach you to follow certain steps (e.g. turn the steering 3/4 of the way, then align the mirror with the parking post, etc. etc.)? The latter is a hopeless strategy that instructors use to just get you to pass and is of no use to you once you are on the road. If you have access to a car, try to practice on your own and get a 'feel' for the car, the way it turns, etc. Focusing on repeating the steps they taught you, and getting anxious about whether you have lined up your mirror with the third line on the post correctly, instead of focusing on the car's movement, will make it difficult to pass because the examiners know about these little tricks that students are taught. BTW, the instructors blaming you is because they get bonuses (and possibly reprimands) if you pass the test in less tries. I know someone who passed on her first go and her instructor was very happy because she was going to get a big bonus! So, don't take it to heart. Good luck :) Didn't know about the bonus thing but I totally agree with your explanation of teaching parking. That's how my instructor taught me and I was like 'what!?' . Luckily i was already good at parking with ample practice in my home country to see through these 'parking tricks'. It totally explains why cars are often parked in malls in a hopeless way.

I have used them during one of their busy periods . They do come but at that time it was a bit of task to sort out an appointment as DH wanted them to show up in the evening , by which time their truck use to get full already(they start collection from morning all they way until truck fills up) so they were finally able to pick up after 3 tries. I am sure it's not a norm. Their number is mentioned on their website. Google take my junk. They even respond on what's app. It was a relief to get rid of our fridge and spare mattress with minimum hassle.

Search rta site for details. Abu Dhabi corniche use to be beautiful for a long nice walk but I don't know what have become of it after recent construction.

I wouldn't rule out asthma. We are dealing with chronic cough of our DS from last couple of years. It pops up in October , as soon as the allergy season start (along with runny nose, post nasal drip, enlarged turbinates) and continues well into May unless we start him on special medications like Singulair. It's really distressing to see someone with chronic cough, hope yours is sorted soon.

Maternity clothes... Did not find any shop online... But maybe I am not looking at the right places... You are not going to have much luck in outlet mall for maternity clothes, summer or winter. You should be looking in mothercare dubai mall. Maternity clothes are mostly cotton so should be wearable in summer or winter. If you need something low cost check out Max. They don't have awesome maternity stuff but wearable, as long as you try before buying and check the material carefully. There should be maternity stuff in marks and spencer also. Hope that helps.

You are right majority of them don't rsvp but i have seen moms repeatedly following up on people (like in s class group where you have phone numbers of other moms) so that they cannot escape letting you know what they mean to do about attending. May be you can try that? Generally, I don't know anyone traveling during this break, most are either traveling early before school closes or right after closing.

No insurance is not a good thing for starters in Dubai but seeing you are in this situation already try a government hospital and ask for their prices. Otherwise best bet is the country you came from if you cannot afford the government fees either. thank you for your reply. actually i prefer to deliver here but dont know which dr or hospital is good. i can take packages in private hospitals but can any one recommends me a good dr in a good hospital in dubai? or latifa hospital is good to deliver? You should look at past threads .there are some recommendations for cheaper places to deliver. One lady recently recommended Thumbay hospital. I have personally used nmc speciality Qusais for delivery and it use to be quite reasonable price wise. You can take a package but it is only economical if you start using it from day 1. If you are already in second trimester than it might not be too useful for you. You'll be bettors paying off as you go and get a delivery package when time comes. I use to see dr babita at nmc. She's good and still there I think.

Baby shop is good value for everyday clothes and all baby care things. mothercare clothes are much nicer for when you are out and about with baby. Keep an eye on sales. There are lot of options for newborn and 0-3 sizes in sales at a good price. Carter's is nice but quality is not consistent . I recently returned a nice looking outfit for a newborn which was polyster /cotton mix!! Quite disappointing to find a mixed fabric item at such high price.

Hi mols Im in the exact situation and am also trying to understand how one can hold back a child for a year. I find it is very stressful to have your child assessed at 2.2 yrs; quite ridiculous actually! I also applied for FS1 2016 for my child cause at the time (beginning this year) all schools said if I applied in 2017, I would have to apply for FS2. Has anyone responded to you with what's needed to allow your child to apply for FS1 when he's just turned 4!? A friend has done it recently.vYou need to get khda involved for this and have them issue a letter of demotion for your child, instructing school to move him/her to a lower year group. So if age wise she is suppose to start fs2 , she can start in fs1. Schools generally encourage to follow the age guidelines for each year group as its a ministry regulation and they want to comply with this. Hope that helps. Thanks comp99 :). Is the khda approval sought before applying for fs1 or only after acceptance . That's the part I find confusing as I've already applied for fs1 for next year and been rejected . Cant help with that question as my friend was already teaching in the school where she applied for her daughter. The school was insisting on starting her in fs2 where as she wanted fs1. So that's when they suggested her to go the khda letter route and all was sorted. I am guessing it must have been at the application stage where they needed the letter to process the application but that's just a guess. I think you should contact khda for information, they should be able to help.

AdventurerB, 70,000 per year for FS1 must surely be at the top end of the scale?! We've never paid anything [i'>like[/i'> that and if we had to would be in a pickle as we don't get school fees at all! OP, my advice is to pick a cheaper school which still has a good reputation, and also not to immediately consider obvious areas to live which can be very expensive. There are lots of affordable villas in nice communities such as Mirdif, Warqa, Mudon etc which are not immediately considered but much cheaper. Also you don't have to live in a villa - Dubai has some fabulous, huge apartments where you can be in the middle of all that is going on without paying for grass watering etc - just for the first year or two until you get up on your feet. Good luck! Absolutely agree. We pay around 38 k for a good established school for fs1 and Why it needs to be a villa ? Why not a good sized apartment with excellent facilities near by? My friend was much happier in a two bedroom apartment in gardens instead of her 2 bedroom smallish villa in springs.

I have never heard of anyone being charged for baby's bassinet during hospital stay.. even in the high end hospitals. I do agree that most hospitals forget to mention the chargable extras for baby after the birth and in most cases you know only after the final bill is produced. This is very poor attitude by al Zahra. They should realise they are very new and there is a lot of competition in that area especially with a new medcare women and children hospital under construction across the road.

schools have become a little more open to children with special needs than before but it is still case by case basis. I have seen some children with down's syndrome in our school. That said one of my friend went back to Ireland only after a year in Dubai due to her autistic son who was enrolled in Noor school for special needs. They were insisting in placing him in a higher class according to his age, for which he was clearly not ready yet. so they had to move back.

I have taken a three hour flight with my first born when he was 6 weeks. To be honest it was quite stressful as I was worried about traveling without his 2 month vaccine especially since we we're going to see so many relatives, with a lot of chance of catching something. It did go well in the end we got back from a 2 week uneventful trip but I never did it again just for my own sanity. If you are someone who gets easily stressed then better to travel after vaccinating.

Medcare hospital and Aster group of medical centers are cheaper when it comes to price of vaccinations. where as mediclinic groups of clinics would charge you much more for the same vaccine. call the medical centers nearby to get the cost of vaccines you are interested in. would give you an idea. travel vaccines are possible at DHA clinics also but i have no idea if they are expensive as compared to other places.

Btw I just got the wall dry then, I turned on he AC while I left my balcony door open. I was trying to create some air circulation. Then the whole wall started to cry down with lots if water again.. Might sound stupid but I think I'm doing smtg wrong in here.. Will def. look for a dehmidifier but I was thinking that AC itself was drying the air in the apt? Always keep AC off if you plan to leave the balcony or windows open for some time. Your AC might stop working and of course not to mention the humidity on your wall. Air conditioners do dry out air but some are not so good at doing that. Which explains some areas/building have humidity issues..some don't. Do get the maintenance people involved. See if they can sort it out but buy humidity monitor and keep a check on indoor humidity. We lived in an apartment with humidity problems and the maintenance company tried everything possible but nothing solved the issue. If you have mold issue when AC is still on, imagine what would it be like when you would turn it off during winters. You should start monitoring , try to get it sorted through maintenance. If nothing works ..de humidifier is your best bet during winters but it's a noisy machine.

Mold is a problem we face also , starts when humidity kicks in and gets worse when we turn off air conditioners in winter. Only solution is to monitor it with a humidity monitor and keep it at 65-70% with a dehumidifier.

You could start by fostering. Check bin kitty collective or K9 friends on Facebook. There are too many cats and dogs here desperate for homes. There usually are kittens on the page too Slightly off topic.. But can you or anyone else share their experience of fostering ? How does it work? The pet stays with you for how long and what you do when you go on holidays? Is the foster family responsible for putting them in kennels/cattery? Or they can go back to bin kitty/k9 friends for that period? We'd love to foster a cat but not sure of how it works. Any details would be great? Contact Bin Kitty or Feline friends. Explain you have never fostered before, they will walk you through it. Personally I have never enjoyed anything more, gave me my Kitty " fix " as I wasn't able to bring my hoard along with me. They will match you up with a cat/kitten, and will take care of all the vet bills etc. when you go on holidays another foster parent will take over the care while you are away. As far a food is concerned I always absorbed those costs but they also offer to provide food. HTH. Thanks for all the information. I have had a pet cat before ,who died before we moved here . It was a rewarding experience and we still miss him. Hopefully with fostering we could have something similar for our kids. The only problem would be how NOT to fall in love with the foster cat!?

Can anyone recommend a company that can do a full detailing of my car - interior and exterior. I have used Yellow Hat before who were excellent but unfortunately they have moved to Mirdiff area which is a bit too far. We have also used yellow hat in the past but more recently a friend got his accord's detailing done from zdegree in al quoz. He was very pleased with the end result as his fabric upholstered seats were as good as new after the service. We use zdegree for regular service of our car. Very nice staff and service but I don't know their prices for car detailing.

I have no idea, ladies, LTS, yes, he should be punished, but I guess he was naive and didn't think it would be as bad as it actually is. I'm not sure I want them to repeat a year, because with that comes a stigma from their friends - they're at an age now where they might be teased about it. So if I'm going to move them, i may as well move them to the American curriculum if it's a more suitable curriculum. I just don't feel doing division and multiplication and being expected to take spelling tests each week is age appropriate for 7 year olds. My eldest, (by one minute) is coping (just), but the younger is shutting off - she gets frustrated and just turns her brain off and refuses to learn anything. They're both feeling discouraged. :( It depends on your school really, how they are managing it. In our school we have groups in each section based on ability levels for English and maths. Each group learns from their own teacher based on his/her ability so he/she is never under pressure to compete with the whole class and I must say this system is working very well for my 7 year old who is good at maths but struggles in English and writing. Your school should be supporting your kids if they are struggling. Have a chat with the teacher /management. See if she/he is willing to do anything to help, other than demoting them to a lower grade. If not, you can look for a better option. decision would be easier.

So I SWORE that I would never again live without built-in wardrobes. I HATE WARDROBES. Where I come from, there are closets built into every room for storage purposes, which is what makes complete sense as opposed to millions of people lugging around wardrobes with them (that may or may not fit their new homes) every time they move. I want to walk into an empty home with a stack of towels and be able to put it on a shelf that's already there, darnit! Then my husband fell in love with a place we saw that doesn't have built-in wardrobes. And I had to admit that it was the nicest we'd seen so far, so I consented *after* he promised me that he would GET built-in wardrobes for me. The kind that let you imagine that they're not a piece of furniture that you will have to disassemble and carry with you when you leave. So now I have an empty house and a blank check (ha, ha) to get myself some wardrobes built in before I melt in a pool of tears and regret. What do I do? Carpenter? Something like HomeCentre's Never Ending Wardrobe to create a combination I like? (I think that would be ~3000 per room for the combination I like, so let's make that the high end?) In a rented space, you first need to find out if a built-in wardrobe is an option. If not, then do what I did, buy a decent sized wardrobe and when you are going away , give it to someone for free

[b'>We have been told already by JAPS that she won't be assessed there as they already have a large waiting list and siblings. We registered her in Nov 2013![/b'> I hope you didn't have to leave a deposit or pay a registration fee. That would simply be ridiculous if you did. JAPS has always been popular with waiting list, years ago I wanted to register and had my registration fee in hand and asked what are the chances of us getting a place and the registra for the day said , almost none and then I asked, so why do you let me register and he told me straight out -To make money!!!! Well I didn't hand him the money. I have been through similar scenerio years ago. Cannot understand their arrogance with such a tiny and tired looking foundation campus. There are better and newer options available for my 500 Dhs registration fee. Thank you!

Hi Ladyjo, my insurance covers all the reputable & big hospitals including Welcare & Al Zahra. I was also under the impression that I need not go for a package but the midwives at Welcare themselves told me to get one (they are aware that I have insurance). Anyway, I am due to call my insurance company help line today to sort these out including the cover for new born which I think will be on reimbursement basis till the baby's insurance card comes. hospitals do tend to encourage package even when not needed. Important thing to find out is if your chosen hospital is too expensive for a 20k maternity limit. some hospitals are quite expensive when it comes to lab and radiologists and all other things. Instead of handing them your well earned 10k for a package,..why not keep it for the delivery for any unexpected costs on top of your insurance limit. Keep doctor in the loop and be informed. It would work out fine.
