I called the EK Call Centre and the guy I spoke to was pretty helpful, it sounds like the cost is US $57 plus $17.50 application fee, and also a refundable deposit. He must buy a flexible return ticket in case it is refused though!!

I have forgotten exactly but I think around AED 1000 each. We looked and looked for cheaper ones but couldn't find anything we liked (we wanted a simple style) and the Hunter ones do have a 25 year warranty on the motors - they are almost silent too.

I love valet parking at hotels but the moral of these stories does seem to be 'park your own car!!'

To be fair to Fiona Coutts, she is also a teacher and helps family's place kids that have special requirements. She understands the different curriculums inside out and knows many of the school registrars, and this helps her find rare school places.

We got ours from these people too and had Emril install them. It is amazing how much less we need the AC on, even in the summer months we tend to run the AC on 24C and not lower. Saves quite a bit of money!

A South African friend of mine suggested my son could teach elocution too (but as he doesn't live here it isn't an option). I think there could be quite a demand for this type of lesson!

How about Greenfield Community School at the Green Community, if no luck call Children's garden it's sister school as they act as a feeder school and I think children can remain there til they are 6. http://www.gcschool.ae/ http://www.childrensgarden.ae/ Also ASD has just moved into a new campus in TECOM/Al Barsha. How about Gems World Academy too.

I tend to have a snack at around 11am or I'd be ravenous by 1pm! Perhaps try having a slightly bigger breakfast with lots of slow burning carbs like oats, or poached eggs on brown toast and see if that helps at all! All our bodies work differently!

I noticed a shop on Al Dhiyafa Street in Satwa that sells patio heaters (and coolers). It is just along from The Dune Centre towards the Rydges Plaza end of the street.

Does the message "the system cannot allocate tickets right now please try later" mean the tickets for that category are sold out? Shouldnt they put sold out on the website coz it still has the "buy tickets now" button? Should I keep trying or not waste my time coz it just means they are sold out? Advice please :) Sorry but yes sold out. the semis and finals tickets see in minutes :(

Sorry if I hit a nerve, if you look back over my previous postings you'll see I rarely get involved in maid type threads but my advice wass on a personal level, my older child needed lots of extra love when his sister was born and that coming from Mum is the best, staff will always be just that, love is only ever 100% from the parents. My kids are adults now, I did not mean to upset you and I apologize if I did, I hope you find the quality of help you are looking for here, it will not be easy. Maybe an expat lady with grown up kids and some spare time might be able to help you out.

What would you expect your 19 month old toddler to be learning? By that age I would expect just a few words, potty training and playing with toys, little games etc. Surely you'll be able to find time to devote to your eldest even with a baby, he might get real jealousy issues if you don't and feel rejected, also you need the siblings to build a healthy relationship right from the start, so you should plan to involve him with the baby not shove him away to a new babysitter. My 2 kids are 19 months apart and they survived (and so did I).

OMG 500K is a lot of money, cant advice other than, If it was me I would have to jump ship and swim home. Me too, there is no simple way out of this. She should leave the region and plan never to come back, then try to consolidate her debts back home and pay them off slowly from the safety of her home country.

Some places are overpriced to leave room for negotiation but I'd really say there is no hard and fast rule, it depends on the LL. I will always try for around 10% off but some will only take say 5k less but others have been known to take 25-50k less but payment in one cheque.

Was this at T1? You have to scan everything before getting into the check in area. Last time I tried to accompany my daughter who was travelling out of T1 they would not let me through, even though the place was empty and deserted. I was really upset but could not do a thing!

PDC now insist on keeping their bills/accounts in the name of the owner/landlord of the property, so making them 'responsible' for the bill. I have only done one tenancy agreement recently with PDC involved and the LL asked the incoming tenant to sign an agreement that he is responsible and will pay the bills, now the managing company for this apt email the tenant the bill when it arrives and he pays PDC direct. Just one warning! PDC put up the amount owed if it is not settled VERY promptly so you have to hope that the LL runs an efficient system and is not anywhere where he does not have regular access to emails!

You may have more choice than you think! I would call all the registrars at the schools you like and see if they have any places, quite a few SA and Aussies leave at this time of the year and free up places, and the school would rather have someone paying school fees than leave a spot empty til September!

I had money stolen from my gym bag at Hayya in The Lakes a few days before Christmas, I think sadly we all need to be more vigilant these days EVERYWHERE in Dubai!
