It wouldn't GE, because he still couldn't travel while his visa was being renewed - whether he had a 2nd passport for extra business travel purposes or not. :nerd:

DH Visa is in his old passport and has no problems with this. On another note, why doesn't he apply for a second passport for business travel? It's not a problem having a visa in one passport and using another. the issue is applying for a renewal on one passport but enetering on another. UNLESS he has space left in existing passport for the UAE visa in which case do that, and then later on apply to put visa in new passport. Having a 2nd passport in this instance will not help. You can't exit the country while your visa renewal is under process, even if you have another passport and use that one.

Being in a freezone will complicate it as some parts which could have been done quickly yourself have to be done online/through the freezone which can add a substantial amount of time. It will be tight - it would be best for him to speak to his PRO to see if any parts can be done before he leaves including the fact he'll be registering/exiting on one passport and entering on another. I guess it depends how important the trip is in 12 Jan?... as doing it all afterwards would be easier and you can do family visas in one day.

PS, to save yourselves stress why can't he just apply after his trip on 12th Jan?

Is it in one of the freezones or federal? Yes, medical can be done anytime. It is valid for 3 months. You can also do the typing for the renewal & ID card. As long as it's not submitted you can have everything ready. If it's federal dubai it is very quick as you can go for your medical at 8am, pick up the results at 11am, submit for stamping and have your visa that day or the next. If it's free zone however it takes longer as with some freezones you are unable to go to immigration directly yourself.

If it helps - the Dubai blood donation centre is located at Latifa Hostpital, you'll find details here www.dohms.gov.ae - they could possibly point you in the right direction.

You can literally do it in an hour if you have all the docs. - Ejari - Salary Certificate - photos - typing for visa renewal photocopies of everything. You may need additional docs to show why you are sponsoring.

I love them too (but got mine from Pastels on Al Wasl I think). Do any of you use them on wet (towelled a bit!) hair? or do you wait until it's almost dry. i always feel like I am going to electrocute myself.

Love it. The peanut butter cookies look tremendous! I do the overnight porridge thing with raisins and sliced almonds as it [strike'>saves me running around like a headless chicken in the morning[/strike'> is very healthy.

It depends what you are asking. Brunch/shopping etc. I like the Christmas market at the Madinat. Fake snow, hot wine, outdoors, a huge tree, little market stalls, it's really lovely. If you have children, Santa is at Wafi, but beware the queues are long! He also goes to other malls but Wafi generally pulls the crowds in as they have a nice setup (and a free coffee voucher!). Ice Skating, Ski Dubai for a cold atmosphere! A few hotels have carol singing in the evenings. Pretty much everywhere does a festive brunch. New Year is a whole different ball game and will depend on your location as the traffic is generally absolutely packed from 2pm onwards on 31st Dec!

Suzy, if you wanted to just get a last minute flight and go quickly for a few days I'm sure a few EWers would help you out. I could potentially help with school runs for example for the rest of the week. If you listed what you needed help with we could pull a plan together and you'd also have Careem/maid agencies etc. I'm just saying if it's that that is holding you back then we could work something out. Otherwise, yes it's an unfortunate part of Expat living. Sometimes what our friends/family think is that we are all here living the high life and able to jet around all over the place at a moment's notice, when it is often just too difficult and expensive. Thinking of you.

Just have a read of your TC. In most it will say something along the lines of that the tenant is responsible for returning the property in the condition it was handed over in. This includes filling in holes from pictures, repainting, repairing damaged plug sockets etc. during an inspection a LL will deduct an amount for each item unless you pay for it yourself and it is in perfect condition at handover, in which case you can claim your deposit back.

Try not to worry. With Dubai being such a transient place and with so much hotel, taxi and air travel, these bugs make their way round us all eventually! You'd be best to also get pest control in as they will have to get to the root cause of the issue which will be in places you can't see in your bed frame. You may need to get them out a few times and make sure they do your curtains etc too. Leaving your mattress in the sun will also help. Good luck!

If possible get her to log (or log on her behalf) everything onto myfitnesspal.com That really is an incredible amount of food. Once she sees how much sugar she is in taking on a daily basis she may rethink. Good luck!

We have been happy buyers for 12 years now, and lived through various ups and downs of the property market, which I am sure there will be more of like any other property market. It will only matter at the time at which we wish to buy or sell again, like any other property market in the world. Having our lives and home (yes home!) linked to our jobs is always something to consider which is why buying is such a personal decision.

I wouldn't mind paying 16 aed a day for a proper cooked lunch. if you think back to 'our day' we had a proper sit down meal. Mince & mashed potatoes, followed by sponge & custard! Maybe not the healthiest but i do feel that during these 'snack' breaks the children are essentially missing out on a meal. They are mostly not getting home until 4pm and need to have had a proper lunch!

It would be anti-torture. Torture is trying to force one's hair into a style it doesn't want to do.
