I can't sit in the back of any car any more (Taxi/Careem or otherwise) which now means the metro :) and walks from metro stations even in the summer - when the car is in for a service or whatever. Bizarrely the problem is much worse since pregnancy/sickness during pregnancy - it must be an inner ear type thing for us all that is triggered by movement. Very annoying.

Hi Angel, Berna made my dress (many moons ago) and it's great to hear she is still around. I just showed her a magazine photo and she did it! Highly recommended.

how are things now, RuthM? Unfortunately this DM seems to have the employer/employee relationship the wrong way round!

trouser suit will be fine and probably better than a fitted jacket and skirt although either sound fine for work in the long run! heels also fine. Don't worry too much about it. Good luck!

Remraan to Healthcare City is doable but unnecessary, with your budget you could get a nice 3 bedroom house in a community in Mirdif with a shared pool etc. Now is also a good time to look. it would be an easy commute and you will make a lot of friends, you can also look for Mirdif Mums on FB.

Minmin it sounds like the Restaurant got halfway through with your visa process and now the visa system is awaiting your arrival. Do you not want that job any more and if not , you need to get them to cancel this part. Is there anyone here that you can get to speak to them?

An article on the Labour Law covering the exit flight is noted here, the applicable part being [i'>if the employee is leaving the UAE.[/i'> http://www.thenational.ae/business/personal-finance/employer-liable-to-pay-for-flight-home-of-resigned-staff-leaving-the-uae

It is highly unlikely that you are entitled to a repatriation flight if you are actually returning to work in the UAE, the flight out is normally only given to those who are leaving the UAE for good.

Hi Egg Yes it is, however (assuming you mean sponsorship by your DH) you will have to have him on hand to be available to sign the different parts on each form after each stage (pre medical then after medical). Also haven't done the new process yet so not sure how that effects it. Also some of the immigrations close at 2pm which makes it a bit tighter but some are open much later.

Irrespective of the post, Careem do actually treat their staff very well. The drivers, who often drive for other companies as well, would rather drive for Careem than other companies as for example, the term Captain is given to the drivers to empower them and make them feel proud of their jobs. They are given incentives relating to the feedback that customers give them and some drivers have also told me that once a month they are treated to a lunch or dinner out, and that during Ramadan every single night the company provides them with a nice meal. The treatment of their staff is reflected in the great customer service the drivers provide to their customers and it is refreshing to hear of companies in the service industry who are so forward thinking.. Thumbs up to Careem.. bye:

same same, sourskittle. We were in such a muddle of sleep deprivation at being up every hour, for some reason didn't go to the Dr! Looking back that is madness! If it helps, OP, once they start walking it eases naturally as the muscles around their oesophegus strengthen.

XV, I'd definitely see a paediatrician as it sounds like reflux etc. Dr Loubser is excellent but as he is difficult to see as a new patient, try one of his colleagues, Dr Rania is also very good. Good luck

Some of these tips are great. I'm also a nervous flyer and sometimes feel like I am the only one awake in the cabin as everyone is fast asleep on a particular night flight we do. It's really quite freaky. I wish I could sleep. Will try some of these.

i wonder what triggered her to loose it with the kids, you had to treat her really bad for that to happen. ? Anyway, OP - it's not a nice thing to have to do, she is a human being trying to earn a living like the rest of us and may be supporting a family etc. However, you would feel much worse if you had done nothing and then later down the line something happened to one of your children. You went with your gut feeling and sometimes that is the best thing to do. Take it easy.. :flower:

Tell her very calmly that you are very happy to involve the police. Only you have seen what she has done and if you think it warrants her being sent home you are within your rights to do so. If she does not do as she is asked then DO call the police otherwise she may run away and you are then responsible for her while she is AWOL Do you have her passport?

Daft idea - what's wrong with women reporting sick when they have period pains in the same way as any other illness ? Much easier to employ men these days - ok, so you have to pay them a bit more but save loads on not having to give maternity pay, breast feeding breaks and now period leave and they don't call in sick when their kids are ill or they have some other home emergency... Wow.............. From your post Men get paid more than women Only women get maternity leave and fathers don't get paternity leave Employing a woman who formula feeds would be preferable to someone who breast feeds so you don't have to give them a break Employers should not be flexible and allow their employees some flexibility to work around children's illness Only mums are involved in home emergencies/children's illnesses and not dads so therefore a man should be employed over a woman Wow. was transported back to 1953 there for a minute........!

Hi SkyHigh, Even if the person in question approached their embassy and somehow obtained a new passport, this would not help them at UAE Immigration. To exit the country there has to be some sort of entry either as a visitor or on a residence visa etc. So the person wouldn't be able to just pitch up with a new passport and exit the country without having the visa details of their last entry. If the person has an open court case or been blocked from leaving, this will definitely show up during the visa part and the person would be apprehended.

There is a flower shop on the back at the left as you enter reception. Sure it will be open Fridays it must be the busiest day, but if you call reception at City they'll confirm.

if your employer has provided a letter of guarantee for a loan or credit card, and then receives a final end of service gratuity payment into the bank, that's normally when an account is frozen. If your friend has otherwise not alerted the bank that she is between jobs they may not be aware.

If your certificate is already notarised, all you need to do now is - attestation at the UAE Embassy in Germany - attestation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dubai. Maybe a friend or family member will do the first part for you, the 2nd part is a ten minute job. :) If however, this is a renewal rather than a new application, it is worth going to immigration and trying without.

Hello ILW! We had a similar situation with enamel due to excessive sickness during pregnancy :( but the dentist used white stuff similar to a filling and just covered all teeth with that so they just looked like normal teeth. Maybe that would be an option. BTW, a positive result of this is that your LO will be used to having work done at the dentist from a young age so no fear etc.

Do you mean in store or online SL? I've had that the last time I was in the UK a few years back - I think it was Next. It didn't help that there was no signature on the card either.

Nursery because: - first aid trained staff and lots of them so hopefully one would be able to help in an emergency! - lots of interaction and teaches social behaviour/sharing from a young age - CCTV - healthy meals (some offer home cooked lunches etc) - not just sitting in front of a TV - some maids from experience are not too attentive when in parks etc. - daily reports of what your LO has done that day - builds immunity from a young age so by the time they start school they don't pick many bugs up

i was a little disappointed to see the "haven't got your size? Order online" signs in M&S. What has happened in the UK is that most of the time they are only putting a very short supply of sizes in store and encouraging people to buy online. Ultimately this means less shoppers, less staff required for jobs, less bustle in the high street and deserted towns. :( Obviously this won't happen here re empty stores but I don't like the idea that they'll have less stock in store but it's ok because you can order online. M&S in the UK need to sit up and take notice of what their customers are telling them and go back to their old ways when they were busy and bustling.
