I feel the same about the landscaping in saheel. Some streets have nice landscaping, while others are barren with just a few shrubs in random places. Call emaar and make an official complaint. When I called they were quite fast to send someone to remove all the dead plants, however they still haven't planted anything in its place.

The airport immigration office so probably closest then. It's open 24 hours however their typing office is a little more expensive than other typists. Not sure what the cost of renewing is. I got confused when they changed the prices of everything last year.

They have an immigration office in terminal 3 downstairs. Or are you looking for a tourist agency to do it for you?

I think this one month training course is optional. They do it if they are coming thru an agency. They teach them a few arabic phrases and how to use a vacuum, etc. however she will need to get her medical done in Sri Lanka prior to coming here, it is around 400 dhs, they often ask for it to process the initial employment visa before she comes here.

I know how annoying that can be. I had one of those where the bra strap is and I'd itch it and it would bleed. You have three routes to removing it, 1. With a dermatologist (might leave a mark depending how they remove it) 2. With a plastic surgeon (will not show) and 3. General surgeon (not recommended) . If you are worried about it, have them send it to a lab after you remove it just for a peace of mind. I paid about 800 to remove it a few years back. I can't recommend a dr as the one I went to is no longer in dubai.

If you find someone professional id be interested too. I bought a roll of rubber strips from ace and stuck it around all my windows. It reduced the amount of sand coming in but it's not perfect. Needs changing every year or so also.

When you apply for her residency the immigration will give you copies of the standard contract, it's very general, so most things specifically related to your house and rules would need to be agreed with her separately. As for babysitting that's totally up to you both to agree on. I have friends who have the sitter sleep over the night on the days they go out. I've never really gone out in the evening and left my baby with the nanny, just quick runs to the supermarket. It's fine to spilt her holiday up, however you would probably have to buy her two tickets back to her country. You could get her a health card to go to the government hospitals, also some people buy health insurance for 750. Not sure which company they use. The probation period would be the time from when you start to process her residency till when it's stamped in her passport

Just use your common sense. As you would anywhere else. Beachwear is suitable while at the beach or pool. And more appropriate clothing according to wherever you are going. For example what you wear to the mall or supermarket is not going to be the same as what you would wear to a formal event, office or party.

Shame as they are really good. A couple months ago I went to better life to order some spare parts for an older model and the salesman was trying to convince me to buy the newer model (which is really much nicer, drawer spacing is improved) maybe it is only temporarily discontinued...

I leave at 6am and I don't find traffic to be a problem. I feel the school traffic when coming home is much worse. I guess my hours help with avoiding traffic cuz I've seen how backed up it can get just to exit gate1. I wish they would open a gate on the global village side, it's such a huge detour coming back home from global village and the petrol station.

There are two lighting shops on umm suqiem St. One has mostly chandeliers and few other styles. And the other shop I've never been in. I found some nice modern lighting fixtures in pier import in mazaya centre. And in dragon mall.

I would skip school also, there's way too much dust, I wouldn't want my kid breathing too much of it in. Especially if he's just recovering from a sickness.

Don't worry so much if your baby isn't eating the amount as per the guidelines. As long as the baby is gaining weight from month to month and you see wet diapers it's fine. Usually when they start teething they loose their appetites a bit and you will notice they eat less. Also if they just had a growth spurt and were eating more, you will notice that suddenly they are eating less. All babies spit up milk and it's annoying to keep changing them to dry clothing, and keep changing bibs and lots of wet towels, but I can see how it can become a serious and frustrating problem. The AR formulas don't always work, usually this problem of spitting up milk/ vomiting milk goes away on its own with time, as long as the baby isn't showing any other signs of illness or spitting up/ vomiting blood then it's normal (I wouldn't medicate). After feeding and burping keep your baby upright for like half an hour, it supposed to help everything stay inside. If you get tired carrying the baby, try using a swing or bouncy seat without switching it on. My friend believes that using a small slower teat helps more, so burps are less messy. (Not sure about this since my baby chokes on the milk with size 2 and 3) I'm using dr brown bottles, they seem to be working good, my baby won't drink from any other bottle. Best thing is to stick to whatever bottle your baby accepts. If you are really worried about the quantity of milk and nutrition your baby is keeping down, switch to a more concentrated milk. For example, I've noticed aptamil and cow and gate recommend 210 ml per feeding for a 4 month old whereas hipp organic recommends 180 ml per feed till 5 months. Someone told me hungry milks are more fattening, I'm not sure if this is true. When my baby was born they did a lactose intolerance test. I'm not sure if it's a standard test at birth. But before the result came out they had advised me to feed only HA formula, it also worth looking into that.

Does anyone know a good website that posts current traffic updates. Preferably something I don't need to create an account for as I'm out now and want to check on my mobile. I want to go back to the ranches from mirdif city centre, and the road was really backed up about an hour ago, not sure if it has cleared up yet.

I'm probably not going to be the most helpful person, but if I was in your situation I would bring a certified home nurse from one of the agencies to care for her when I was at work, and I'd have them bathe her whenever needed, I'd just let them work out the logistics of getting her to the shower (or towel bathing her). In the weekends you could all go to a hotel together for change of atmosphere, if anything only the access to the bathroom/ shower might be easier if you needed to assist her. If she's in a hotel the whole time you aren't going to see her as much if you add up all the time commuting between work, home, hotel.

Ask your vet if they can keep the cats in the clinic during the treatment. They probably will at an extra charge. I kept my dog in the clinic for few days while it was on a drip. It was like a hospital they had visiting hours.

I used to give my old housekeeper an allowance, 500 dhs a month, she used to go to the fruit and veg market (sometimes I'd give her extra cash to buy me things), all her meats and fish were delivered to the house and she did a monthly shopping in lulu. She loved cooking and the 500 budget was enough for her. She would also have a bit leftover. I take my current housekeeper to the supermarket with me once a week, and I let her choose whatever she wants. She's very shy thou so I end up having to tell her to choose a biscuit, choose a fruit, get shampoos etc. she only picks up the absolute essentials on her own. she doesn't really seem to like cooking, so mostly she eats from whatever I've cooked for lunch and dinner + she makes her own breakfast mostly toast and cheese or eggs. I loaded the freezer with frozen chicken, vegi's and other random foods so she can cook her own meal the days I'm not cooking or going out.

Thanks all for the replies. I couldn't find any in satwa, dragon mall sounds like a good option, it seems like they sell everything there. I don't really like the light produced by these energy saving bulbs, I don't feel it's bright enough and the colour isn't the same, especially for the candle bulbs.

Poor kitties. I'm surprised the vet gave you so much medication and didn't tell u what the exact problem is. It sounds like the vet is experimenting with your cats. It's not normal for the cat the bleed after shaving it, but maybe yours did since it's skin was already sensitive. I agree with lolacat, try and see another vet for a second opinion. It also doesn't make sense to have to wash your cat twice a week for 6 months following a course of antibiotics, that itself would be a nightmare trying to wash them. Cats do get allergies, vets often give a steroid injection to stop the itching, really depends on the exact problem. Whatever spray you are using shouldn't add to the problem it should provide some relief for the cat.
