I know asking for a refund again will be a pointless exercise so I'm not going to waste my energy. GA sorry to hear about your mums experience, I'd imagine Bobbi Brown herself would not be too happy to hear how her represeNtatives are treating customers. I wouldn't mind I had intended on spending some money on the BB stuff the night of the make over/up lesson but when I realized I had been sold the total wrong shade of foundation it put Me off buying Anything. WE live and learn Oh yes let me know if you want foundation edited by CurlyOB on 03/05/2012

Thanks Pricey, I did ask them to take it back but no luck. I even said If they could take it and use it as a tester. It's a full bottle. So annoying but am kicking myself as I should have paid more attention at the time but stupid me thought I'd leave it to the 'expert' Am hoping someone will buy it, otherwise It's a total waste Curly

thanks for the reply Sanddy Dogg, yes I would hope that would be the case. We too would put account offshore in joint names as are accounts here. I suppose I would be worried as it is an Abu Dhabi based bank in the first instance (as opposed to HSBC or Lloyds for example) so therefore worried that there may be a claim on it even though its held offshore. I assume though that the offshore account would be governed by the laws of where it is based, as in Jersey etc. thanks again Curly

just wondering, does anyone know if an ADCB Offshore account (held in Jersey) would fall under the Sharia Law issue of being frozen on the untimely death of a spouse? We have our local accounts with ADCB and are thinking of going offshore with them. I did ask the question of the lady in the MOE branch and she said that it wouldn't be an issue and would not be frozen but frankly i wouldn't trust her as far as I could throw her as she didn't instil too much confidence in any of our other questions. Anyone know?

Hi Alimart, just to pick your brain on Sri Lanka and where you stayed. We are looking for a nice holiday towards the end of this month and originally planned to stay local (as in driving distance) but the hotels we want have no availability. Now we are thinking of looking abroad but with a 2.5yr old and a 9 month old, not sure what to do. Can you recommend somewhere in Sri Lanka please? Sorry also meant to ask how all things are going with your two ;o) Sorry to hijack thread OP Curly edited by CurlyOB on 06/03/2012

Thanks everyone for your replies. I agree there is a lot to be said for staying local especially with two LOs in tow. We did say that when the time comes to depart Dubai for good we'd splash out on a nice holiday in somewhere like Al Qasr but my argument would be why wait, let's do these things now while we are here without the stress of a pending final departure. Good suggestions so I will look into all. Am Laughing at your comment simplesabc of crossing the border ... Ha ha. I remember being so fed up in Thailand last year thinking we'd just left gorgeous weather in Dubai for constant rain in Phuket but I guess 'thems the breaks' Thanks again. Curly

Tracey who does the class brings an array of toys which are laid out on a few mats in the middle which is good for kids to sit. For the more mobile ones they tend to run around. My advice would be for your two year old to bring something they like, like s pram, scooter, bike whatever will keep them occupied. The hall is huge so plenty of space.

On a holiday destination for myself, DH and two DDs, one aged 2 yrs and the other 8 month old. My DH informs me that he will be taking last two weeks of March off and me to organize something. Great, we all need some good family time. Problem is, I've no idea where to go ... Will prob just do one week away , the other relaxing at home. Bearing the DDs in mind, is it better and easier to go somewhere driving distance, say max 3 or 4 hours or do we bite the bullet and take a flight somewhere? I organized a 10 day trip to Thailand for similar timeframe last year and it turned out disastrous, DD was sick and the weather was depressingly wet and the hotel was not up to scratch ... All in all a waste of time money and energy so am nervous about a repeat. Any help, recommendations, tips etc etc would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Curly

Hi all we are planning a get together (enmasse) over the Christmas in Zabeel Park and as its quite vast with various gates/parking I would really appreciate if someone could let me know the best gate/parking area to enter to be close to the BBQ area as well as the kids play area ... so I can advise everyone to go to the same one and enter the same gate. Otherwise I would have to do a dummy run and I don't think I'll have time to do this before Christmas, esp with two babies in tow! Please help. Thanks in advance and Happy Christmas !!! Curly

I cannot FATHOM why anyone would hold a infant in the front seat !!!! another thing i see here alot........ I can and do understand why they do it. They have a completely (and I mean completely) different way of viewing things than you. I have relatives who do it, they know the dangers, and are constantly reminded, but they still do it, we buy them car seats, and they thank us profusely, and they put them in the cupboards. Whatever we do or say has little or no impact, because they see things so so differently. This conditioning, to think this way, has to start from a young age. When I was 18, my Emirati friend had a baby, and refused to buy a car seat, or use one for her baby. Now, that baby has just had a baby, and will not use one either, as she says, she did not need one, so why should her baby? Allah Kareem. ETA: I am not condoning anything, just sain' edited by IAMVP on 06/12/2011 You see this is what I CANNOT fathom! Why oh why would a person not use a car seat ESP when given one and given all the advice for the use of one. IAMVP, what do these people say to support their argument against using them and just cos it wasn't used for them isn't an excuse as far as I'm concerned - but then again there is no argument for the non use of car seats/seatbelts in my opinion! It was also said below that back in the 70s and 80s in the UK/USA etc car seats or even seat belts weren't used. Yes this may be true but there were a heck of a lot LESS cars on the road back then and where I'm from the roads were alot quieter with barely two lanes on them. Here its a different story, 6 lane highways with speed limits of 120/140 km/h not to mention dealing with the every day crazy drivers on the roads along with us. We may deem ourselves to be the most careful drivers on the road but we have no control over other drivers. It was also mentioned below that I should not have put these questions up here and asked the lady directly, well I only noticed this as she sat in a lane beside me waiting for the lights to change and I didn't actually see her at Little Lands. I did try and get her attention but as mentioned she was too busy answering her phone!!!!! Reason for posting here, well she is an Expat and a Woman and I was hoping that she may be a user of this site! I will keep an eye out again at pick ups for her and will say it to the nursery - thats all I can do really, aside from raising awareness here.

I posted this thread for 2 reasons ... yes to vent but more importantly in the hope this woman sees it and realises the error of her ways! Redlesley is right, we shouldn't get complacent about this and even though these sort of threads are done to death, if one person sees a thread and makes them think then all the better! Pointless, I don't think so!

1. Why do you let your child sit in the front seat of your car while you are driving (while also on phone at one point) 2. Why don't you put a seat belt on that child? Although I see alot of stupid parents and driving everyday here I never do threads like this but this just made my blood boil. The little boy sitting in the front passenger seat, moving around. We were side by side at traffic lights so I could see he had no seat belt on. I did try and get your attention to gesture the belt (probably would have been ignored and/or told where to go mind) but you were too busy taking a call while taking off at the junction WHILE your CHILD was still unrestrained!!!! Arrrgghhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know these threads are done to death but had to get this off my chest!! Rant over for now!

I bought a Boxee Box about two months ago and am still waiting to be able to actually use it. I thought it was becoming more painful than worth it! First of all, I had problems actually selecting any programmes on the iplayers chosen - this was fixed by asking the Boxee support team - I had to upgrade my Boxee Box ... Now my problem is, it isn't compatible with Adobe Flash (yet) and I wanted to watch Xfactor last weekend and couldn't as I needed flash .... aaarrrgghhhhhh So have now logged another issue with the support team. Apparently the rumour is in their next upgrade they will install flash player ..... who knows! My friend has one and swears by it and uses it all the time and loves it ...... I am looking forward to mine working in the same way and loving it same as her. Maybe in time for Christmas .....

Hi I would like to get my DH Golf Lessons, he plays and enjoys golf but would like to improve and with his long working week he finds it hard to find the time to playand practice more. I thought by getting him lessons and booking him in for specific times, he may go back to wanting to play more regardless of tiredness etc. Any recommendations would be really appreciated. Curly

why not go to a park (little safa is perfect for birthday parties) and just bring balloons etc to mark where the party is and while it might be work bringing the food and setting it up, its ideal esp if you have a morning party (say 10am to noon) good luck

Congrats Redrec Tangle, delighted to hear it! Good lick M, not long now til you have your bundle. Well my little angel arrived safely on June 15th. I was brought in to be induced on my due date (the 14th) and like my DD before this DD decided to take her time to make her way into the world ... unfortunately it meant in the end she went into fetal distress and I was whisked off for an Emergency C Section. All very traumatic in the end but thankfully we are both fine and she is just gorgeous. We have named her Keelin Eve and she weighed in at 3.56 kgs (think thats about 7lbs 12 oz). She is a week old today and my pain is easing day by day so its all good. My other DD (20 months) loves her new sister and there are lots of kisses being bestowed on her. Hope you are all well and enjoying your babies and best of luck to those near the end now. Curly

Congrats Alimart, fantastic news, so glad everything went well for you and baby Thomas Iain (another great name).I had been wondering about you lately knowing you were due to go in on the 1st for the section. I'm sure it was surreal seeing it was so different to first time around. At least this time you didn't have to go through all the labour to end up being sectioned in the end anyway - can imagine that being exhausting and stressful. Thats interesting what you say about DD, I have no idea how my DD will react when the baby in my belly becomes a reality for her. So far she is loving and kissing my belly but who knows what the reaction will be with the real life baby .... I know your DD and mine are similar in age so thats interesting. Terrible twos we can do without!!!! I am just over a wk off my due date now, due Tues week, had CTG this morn and all is well, not back again til next sunday unless I go myself in the mean time. My mum arrives next weekend so am hoping baba will hold off until she is here so that my DD is looked after and I don't have that added stress of trying to drop her off somewhere or have someone come to our place. COngrats again, enjoy every moment of your little boy, lovely to have the girl and boy too. I can't wait to see what we have, having not found out throughout the pregnancy. Take care Alimart and all other mums to be in June. Curly

Congrats Tru Blu, wow twins with a 3 yr old and a 15 month - busy times ahead but all good right!!! I've just had a mini Al Wasl experience this week as I got a bout of Gastro during the week and was admitted for dehydration and I guess just to be sure all was ok with baba ... I am 37+ weeks. I found from the minute I entered the ER the care I got was excellent, everything was done calmly and timely with no hanging around. I didn't expect to be admitted to be honest but think they were being over cautious which is a good thing I guess. I was in a 4 bed ward and this unfortunately was the pits ... even though you are curtained off and have privacy to a degree just the noise level from the other three ladies (two in particular) kept me from getting any rest or sleep. I don't understand people leaving phones on to ring at all hours of the night!!!! And so much for visiting hours - one lady had family in visiting until almost midnight (visiting hours finish at 8pm). I just hope and pray I can get a private room for when I go in for the actual baby but will just suck it up and hope that I'm in for the minimum time possible if in a shared room. At the end of the day the care both my baby and I get will be the most important outcome and to date I have to say all the doctors/nurses I have seen have been great, professional, concerned, interested and helpful no matter how busy. The admin staff .... well, thats another story entirely but hey ho, they are not important to me. From memory re registration at Al Wasl, you can register from 16 weeks and cut off is 28 wks. Good luck all, Suznz .... we may cross paths there as we are very close in dates. Best of luck anyway. Curly

Hi there I too would be very interested in hearing recent birth stories from Al Wasl. Tru Blu, you pipped me to the post in posting a similar thread. I am 37 weeks so am probably leaving the question a bit late but not to worry, am not changing hospital anyway but am jsut interested to know what to expect. I delivered my DD at Medcare 19 months ago but was brought in and induced. This time around I feel like its the first time all over again. So any feedback on admissions (asking for private room OH PLEASE), admissions, payment procedure .... general care and feedback on everything really - suppose I'd be looking for good and bad as forearmed is forewarned and all that. My email address is curlyob at gmail dot com if anyone wants to answer privately - I would reallly appreciate it. Sorry for hijacking your thread Tru Blu ;o) Curly
