any ideas where a professional tennis coach might look to find vacancies in UAE? Started already with a lot of the big tennis/sports companies but any extra help appreciated :-) I got this from a friend recently .... they have quite a good selection of bandanas at Daiso, I've seen them at the Mirdif branch, lots of different colours am sure they have them at all branches throughout Dubai.

just let poochie out and sat on the chairs on the patio and they are wet! We're having our garden done at the moment and I thought the sprinklers had been on, which I've switched off ... guess that answers why the chairs are wet!

Two guests are muslim so I cannot cook with wine in this instance. Just use water or some stock instead it will be fine - or you could try those alcohol free wines they sell in C4, although I haven't tried them (they are against my very being!)

Agree if you have to serve Yorkshires on your first roast, unless you're pretty confident, buy a packet of Aunt Bessies. Personally I make them only with beef (old Yorkshire aunt would roll in her grave othewise!) Plus my aunt always made a large one and cut it up which I still do and it's really yummy ... practice that for next time! Do your peeling, prepping, stuffing lamb with garlic and pudding plenty in advance even the night before and write a timetable, I still do this when having a dinner party and at Christmas - it helps you focus and prompts you, give yourself plenty of time and lay the table early too. Don't forget some mint sauce or jelly, you can get in a jar and put in a pretty dish. Good luck and let us know how it went. I would say if it all goes to pot just give them more grape juice ... but I see you may have non drinkers on the guest list.

IJust want to back up Spongemonkey, I have had the bank do the same to me a couple of times because of signatures not matching. We opened our account almost 20 years ago, and they decided they didn't like my signature anymore. It was very frustrating and I, too, had to have a new signature card made. same here, I had a cheque returned to school saying the signature was not correct! So I wrote out another cheque with the identical signature to school and that went through ...... that's Dubai

I can recommend Dr Rita...she was the only one who correctly diagnosed DS when he had glandular fever and she was amazing NIP - where is she based? He's had a diagnosis I guess it's just a journey to recovery, he was doing well and I would say back to normal but we just hit a blip today :(

thanks Simples, his GP has changed hospitals in the short time between diagnosis and now (which is now not covered by our healthcare provider!), I think you are right though he looks like a ghost. I have googled it and it appears correct that he will go up and down, just wanted some confirmation from 'real' people. He's now back in bed with paracetamol and even said 'mum I don't think I can go paintballing tomorrow' which is a big thing for him which he's been looking forward to! Thanks again Simples x

It's not a month since his GF was diagnossed, but this morning he is tired (shattered) and complaining of cold symptoms ... is this just normal in the recovery for GF now that he's been 'better' for the past 2-3 weeks, should I expect this? I think he is well enough for school but poor lamb does look jaded, he's just missed so much school. Thanks as always lovely EW ladies for your input.

Do you get to register and pay and all at the Arabian ranches? I'm not sure what you mean OEB, if you mean sign up for the PO Box there at Ranches no. You have to do it at the Al Barsha post office, opposite Dubai American Academy near Lulus. You can only sign up if they have available boxes. I would pop into Al Barsha post office to check. Hope this helps.

Love Chester with its lovely old Tudor buildings, The Rows, used to go boating on the river and have picnics on the banks. My DH came from Llandudno and I met him whilst he was doing his MANWEB apprenticeship in Hoylake (next door to Meols) ! Been to Flat Foot Sams many times. It was part of the Stanley Hotel where we had our wedding reception. Have friends in Willaston and one of my oldest friends from school lived in Bromborough so know that quite well too. It's a small world ! I'm from Llandudno ;) Very small world! Very small world :-) Havent been to Llandudno for years tho! My friends take their dogs for walks there tho :-) I had my wedding reception in Llandudno!

our Ranches PO Box is due to be transferred to Motor City - this was due to happen in the early part of this year but as yet nothing has changed. Our mail is still delivered to our box in Ranches, I assume we will receive notification when the service transfers. When we renewed early in the year they told us that the boxes would be moved so I guess some of the Motor City boxes have been already allocated to the old Ranches box holders. They don't collect mail to my knowledge from the PO boxes (or not the service we have which is the basic one which suits us fine) but there are several tiers of services, they are explained on the Emirates Post website: http://www.emiratespost.com/content/english/indiv-main-eng.jsp

Do these people from other communities just walk in to use the pools??? I live in a complex made up of villas and appartments, there is a pool and gym but the villas have to pay monthly p/p to use them as the appartments pay a service charge in their rent for the use of them...I pay for my 2 children to use them and I would feel cheeky just turning up to use the pool too with my kids without paying for myself first...Can understand why you would be outraged by others just turning up and setting up camp for the day ...oh yes. Saves them money and costs you a fortune, and yes it's bare faced cheek! There should be a card entry into these facilities or the security need to pull their socks up. Something for the residents' committees to get their teeth into I think.

Look up Kent men's brushes on amazon, I got one for my dad a while ago. Haven't seen them in Dubai but you could try shops like Harvey Nichols etc. A body brush is very different. Yes I thought it might be, do Amazon deliver to Dubai? I cannot find a website that sells them that will deliver here either, and I was hoping to get one immediately as we lost the original Mason Pearson brush. Will look in Harvey Nicks, thanks. I use a shop and ship account to have stuff delivered here, from Amazon UK & US, but it does bump the cost, any visitors who can bring out for you? Have to agree with MM17 and FCY this is why some communities are more expensive to live on, you pay for the facilities. You get what you pay for and security on these communities need to clamp down. Another reason we moved from Ranches overrun with visiting families using the pools etc.

DS goes there, he and we are very happy ... teachers are very good in our experience, they are very good at sharing information and we love the feel of the school. DS transferred there from DESC. There is lots of bashing of for profit schools, but our experience has made us glad we switched. Hope this helps

I'm with on that cat-trax, We have moved around a lot, often directly from one overseas posting to another and we give up our ID cards, driving licences etc as per instructions of the leaving country and when we get to the new country we NEED our UK dox to get ID, licences etc there. As stated on my visa if I'm not resident here for 6 months it will be invalid. My right as a British citizen with a home address, utilities in my name etc does not expire regardless how long I'm out of the UK - cymraes not everyone stays in just one place OR the other I know how hard it can be moving from country to country having been married to a Forces man for over 20 years, and I fully understand and empathise with your reasoning, but what our actual rights as BCs are versus what we need or want, are different. I have been searching for months to get the actual laws. The DVLA told me I was not to use my UK licence or really to hold it, it is illegal. I know we need it for getting new licences etc however they are cracking down on expats who are not domiciled in the UK and even if we have property and bills in the UK it still doesn't always entitle us to what we want. I would hate for anyone to be under the impression that what they are doing is legal. Home for me is the UK (and DH pays tax on his pension there) but 'home' and legal residency/domicile are two very different things. If anyone has any links to our rights I would be very grateful to you for sharing them.

I don't think there is one park that connects them all, I lived in Al Reem 3 and there were two parks there, Reem 1 and 2 also have their own parks. There is the lake which is in the middle of the Reems which is lovely to walk around. You can get to the lake via any of the Reems, Reem 3 is the closest access to the lake from the security gate. <em>edited by cymraes on 17/04/2012</em>

i did mine last year.......if you have the same uk address as your old licence....fill in the online form, give permission for them to use yor passport details.....sent your expired photo licence back and your new one will be sent to your UK address.:) but its illegal, and if caught you can get a 5k fine!!! stop telling people to do something that its illegal to do. as i said they are looking into these now in a lot more detail. Absolutely agree with you BB2 - DH's licence was lost when we moved from the UK, he has not requested another as it is ILLEGAL to do so, I have mine still (which is not valid) but do not use it. When and if we return to the UK we will simply apply for our licences and there will be no problem which I was told directly by the DVLA (no test to take as we have passed it in the UK many many years ago). What is it with British Citizens, of which I am one, wanting their cake and eating it - either you are resident in the UK and qualify for your UK licence or you are resident in the UAE and you do NOT qualify. .... don't get me started on British expats who are still claiming Child Benefit!

sorry went out with poochie round the block .... I googled the white vinegar thing and apparently it's brilliant at cleaning all applicances, one cup in the powder drawer and run empty on a hot wash, in fact am going to do this this afternoon when I've been out to et some white vinegar. A clean machine will make a huge difference, says on the white vinegar thing that you should wipe round all surfaces of the machine with neat vinegar too cleans and disinfects. Gosh what did we do without google? Right can white vinegar find my specs?

in this climate if you wanted something cheap yet cheerful, how about little battery fans, especially those that squirt water too, we had some many years ago at a conference, the delegates loved them as they were useful during being couped up all day. what are you using them for - just generally give aways or for a specific event? you can buy a washer cleaner, like dishwasher cleaner, or try to descale it maybe, some on here have recommended putting a mug full of white vinegar (the cheap stuff) and running it on a hot wash, I worked for me a while ago when it got all gunked up with all that powder and softner - worth a try. My mother used sometimes to rub bar soap on my dad's collars and also a little smear of fairy liquid on them before popping them in the wash (perhaps your husband needs to have a whole new washing regime LOL!) - good luck, what a pain especially if your stuff is ok.

has the paediatrician done any tests, it would seem odd to me that a 3 year old would choose not to eat (as in anorexia) the anorexia that the paediatrician mentions must be a result of something else, I would seek a second opinion from another doctor as there must be something underlying causing the not eating. My thoughts are with you.

before you take the plunge and buy a new machine have you tried different detergents? I've recently switched back to big box powder from liquid, both Persil and the results from the big box powder are much better, I still wash at 40 degs, 50 min wash (yes I know I should use 30 for the environment) plus the box seems to last longer. By the way I have a siemens machine which is not one of the expensive ones and am very happy with it. Yes if you send them to the laundry they put loads of bleach in them which I hate.
