I've had two pairs of Tamaris heels (not very high but a decent heel) over the years, which I've worn at conferences for whole days at a time. Some styles are a little odd, but look hard and there are some nice ones too.

Hi there, same situation ..... the local rep was unhelpful and rude and I got no response from Scholtes themselves! Have resorted to hit and miss. I just use the oven on fan ..... two clicks to the left with the dial and select the heat! Bakes lovely on that! Bumping for anyone who can help us out. Oh but I love the oven and hob ..... but bet I could do so much more with it

The juniors from our school went very recently and it was brilliant from all accounts, DS went last year, although he was 13 then and they had a fabulous time. When I went to the presentation evening I was impressed by the leaders and the facilities. From a personal point of view I would always encourage my child to participate in this type of trip. DS went away to a PGL type place when we were in the UK and he was 9, he had a fabulous time and it really did him good to be away from home, that was for a whole week. Good luck with your choice :-) ps and it saves getting a baby sitter for that precious night out with DH when they're away!

Time out card is good, we have experienced problems twice - Mango Tree at Souk Al Bahar, they don't take it any more but that week it was still listed on the Time Out list as taking it .... I called up the page on my phone and showed the manager, he said he would honour it that time but they had been removed off the list. Second time it was rejected was at Carluccios in Mirdif, we wrote to Time Out and they sent us an apology and now they are taking it again. Have used it successfully at Pregos and at Loca (but I think Loca is no longer onthe list). It is worth it, even if you have to sometimes explain that it's on the Time Out list. I'd still get it. We no longer get the Family Entertainer just the Fine Dining, it pays for itself in a couple of visits.

I too had my 8 year old (at the time) Mulberry Bayswater fixed at the factory in Somerset, fantastic service and they didn't charge me a penny, it came back as good as new, quality item, quality company x That's why I'd never have a 'knock off' one

had planned a lie in after a really busy few weeks at work and heading for a nightmare of week's next! .... awake at 8.15 (normally up at 6am) fed poochie, loaded the slow cooker, made coffee, went back to bed and woken by DS at midday, DH had made a cooked breakfast ... bliss Was going to blitz the house but have seen the error of my ways, that's tomorrow's job! Used connection, they quoted us a price then when they sent the quote had upped it, I negotiated and they conceeded, then added a credit card booking fee!!!! - driver was lovely though but buyer beware, check the price and stick to it! Shame they can't be true to their verbal quoted price!

update: going to Zurich from DXB - no way only 100mls allowed, on return back from Manchester no problem, they sealed the bag and it went through the x-ray machine at Zurich, they just asked when I bought it, the receipt was in the clear sealed bag, no problem - one bottle of lovely champagne ready for Christmas. Don't understand why they can't seal the bag in DXB ......

We've been using Earlybird for about 2 years now, they always phone on a Monday for our order and deliver it at the same time on a Wednesday afternoon (we're at The Villa) they deliver lots of other items too earlybird.ae. We've never had a problem and our delivery man Ramesh is very nice, if we're not home he leaves it and I pay him the following week.

I don't know anything about that particular school, but just want to make sure you realize that quite a few schools here have taken the name of a prestigious public school in England but actually have actually nothing at all in common with their namesake. edited by simpleasabc on 25/10/2012 edited by simpleasabc on 25/10/2012 Shocking .... My cousin was in the same class as Jeremy Clarkson at a prestigious Derbyshire school, he'd be horrified to know the same sch in DXB is worlds away in quality!

If you do not disclose a diagnosis that you have this could invalidate your school place, if you look in the admissions small print of lots of school here. I know Gems schools have a great programme for inclusion, from very personal experience. You will not gain anything from hiding the diagnosis. Please be honest - it's the way you will get the support and understanding your child needs.

Hi we're going to the Dubai Little League trials today and there is normally a stall there selling equipment, we got a glove there last year and a bat, it's a Louisville Slugger and they had Wilson too. Not a huge selection but enough. Apparently the shop is near Trade Centre Roundabout but I can't remember what it's called, will try to find out today for you. For today's trial you had to be signed up already with DLL. Hope this helps

..... beer goggles! Seriously, I'd wear jeans and a cute top ... and shoes that you can stand up and walk in after having a few malt beverages - stilettos don't do this, so I'd go with the wedges or boots if it looks like it's going to get messy! Have a great time

We've had several taxis not turn up when we've booked them, we were told (like others have said) that ringing and 'booking' in advance does not guarantee you a taxi, so what's the point? And like others have said too, you have to pay for the privilege!! I wonder if we should all blanket email Dubai Taxi and complain, surely if you book in advance you need the taxi and I don't have any objection to paying a booking fee - as long as they turn up. Poor customer service at its best (is that an oxymoron?)

Last weekend we upgraded my iphone 4 to the IOS6 and since then I haven't been able to upload pictures from my phone to Facebook, it says "this app does not have access to your photos or videos. You can enable access in Privacy Settings", I've checked my privacy settings both on the phone and via my computer and can't see what I need to do - any EW techie experts out there with any ideas on how to do this? Help very gratefully received! (Having a phone problem solving afternoon, DS' Galaxy note is also driving us nuts and the temper level in the house is rising by the second, best I go and make the supper!)

There is a school of thought that if you have to prepare for these exams then the outcome is not a realistic one. A very good friend of mine had her son tutored in the UK ready for the grammar school entrance exam, which he just passed, poor kid just scraped in and has been at the bottom of his class ever since, and is very unhappy at grammar school. Another friend just let her son take the exam, he failed the grammar school entrance exam but has exceptionally well at his comprehensive/academy school and is one of the top students - on target for 10 GCSEs and a bright future. I wish you and your children good luck in their school careers x

thank you both, I don't mind a single beep or a reminder every few minutes, but it's a constant siren! I have heard of people having it disabled, crazy thing is that 130-140 is allowed on some of the roads here and still the beep goes off at 120. My current Peugeot doesn't beep at all so I guess that was disabled at some point. Thanks again for your responses, I hope DH will like it and we can go forward and purchase it, after all he's paying for it! x

Tru Blu - hugs My son who is now 14 was diagnosed at age 8 as a high functioning autistic, it is mild on the spectrum however, he has a whole different outlook on life to others of his age. He is quirky, his own person and passionate. He has had lots of difficulties at school both here and in the UK. Finally we found a school who could offer him the learning support assistant and patience that is needed, he's very smart but by no means an academic, and it's taken a long time for us to accept that. One school out here just washed their hands of him and said they couldn't help. Your sister will need to be strong and ready to fight if necessary for help. Our DS is the most loving boy you could wish for, he has his issues and we are developing tactics to help him take on the world! We want to give him the best guidance we can for the future which is going to be hard for him - and we try to keep positive about his future and his adult life.

Off the top of my head we were quoted: 117K for the CRV we looked at (5 seater) 114K Sorento - 3.6 engine fully loaded - the one we'd go for 96K Sorento lower specone 89K for the 2.4 engine - lower spec All the Sorentos we looked at were 7 seats

We're still undecided! We've had a situation with our second used car which means that we're going to replace that one first ... a whole different story! However, when we swap the big car we are going to go for the Sorento - friends of ours have the 3.6 litre version and it's brilliant, we borrowed it for a weekend, knocks the CRV into a cocked hat.

DS has learning support at GEMS Wellington Academy (year 10) but we have to pay for it in addition to school fees. I think all GEMS school have an ACE dept (achievement centre) who can help with support if they have places. We're delighted with our support and moved DS from another 'premium' sch in Dubai in order to get the help he needed.

...the crux of the issue is that you are [b'>no longer a UK resident[/b'>, in the same way you cannot use the NHS unless in an emergency, legally - although lots do, but I don't fancy being plastered with a bill for that either, you can still be a British Citizen but you are not resident - end of story I was told ....

... and don't forget once you have your UAE licence your UK licence is invalid to drive in the UK on it .... DVLA told me this first hand, you are no longer a UK resident - no matter if you pay tax, have a house etc etc. Lots still use their UK licence when back home but it's illegal - straight from the DVLA's mouth, don't believe what the UK hire car companies tell you!

we lived in AR 18 months ago for two years, I never saw a snake in all that time, have been in Dubai over 3 years now and still haven't seen a snake ... we're now at The Villa on the edge of the dessert and I still haven't seen one. Haven't seen anything else on your list either, and I go walking with the dog in all kinds of places and still no sightings. With regard to location Alma is the closest to the AR exits, then of the town houses the next closest is Al Reem 3 which is the newer of the Al Reems (which is where we were), it's quite a treck from the outer edges of Al Reem 1 to the entrance of the community, in my opinion. AR is a lovely community. I can't recall what our bills were, but I think 1,000aed was the most we paid in a summer month when we were running the irrigation in the grassed garden, I think they averaged around 600-800aed but we didn't pay housing fee on that. We were in an 3M with two adults and a teenager. Hope this helps We only moved as we wanted a bigger house which came with a pool for the same money.

all the way on the 311 from Dubai exit 119 to the right and follow the signs few kilometers on this road, 5-10 mins turn right at the sign just after the new hospital (huge!) then 5-10 mins to reception... have a fab time is the loveliest place and we had a fab weekend ps ETA voucers in Entertainer Blue for the Al Waha restaurant and Entertainer Fine Dining for the Thai restaurant x <em>edited by cymraes on 22/08/2012</em>

they are the evil of a woman's life .... some swear by Bio Oil to reduce but I really don't think you can get rid of them :-( but I'd be glad to hear of a miracle .... no stretch marks until DS went 10 days over due ... then all **** broke loose!
