Hi Reidly - my doctor is Dr Samah who is based out of the new Medcare clinic on Jumeira Beach Road. I have seen her from the beginning and she has been great. She has booked me to have a c section because the baby is still breech (37 weeks) but she is going to check again just before the op just in case he has turned as she knows I do want to avoid it if at all possible. She genuinely seemed disappointed for me that that's the way it's looking so I think she will respect our requests and wishes on the day.
When I was planning a natural delivery I had a birth plan and spoke to our midwife about it as I was also unsure how much weight it would carry here. She said that it is a legal document and they should do what they can to follow it - best thing is to talk it through in advance with the doc and get her to sign it off first, make sure there is a copy in your hospital file and also take a couple with you on the day.
Hope all goes well for you!:)
The doctor was agreement and said they would let the baby stay with us/let me hold him etc as much as possible so I am sure it should be fine. It sounds like you had a good experience at City and hopefully it will be the same for us at medcare.
Hello Kitty - like you say DH is there to fight my corner too and he will! It is our first baby so I guess I am just anxious not knowing what to expect and I feel like I will be a bit more out of control because of the c section. Good tip about the first bath too, thanks!
I am due to have a c-section at Medcare in a few weeks and just wondered what other people's experiences were of c-sections there, what to expect, things to be aware of with the nursing staff etc? The main thing I am concerned about is not getting to have that initial bonding period with the baby straight after the birth and the nurses taking the baby away while I am in recovery. I have already, and will continue to stress to the doctor that I want to be able to hold and feed the baby as soon as possible.
