I have seen a official notice that from Sat 26/11 at 5.00pm until Sun 27/11 at 6.30pm there will be no alcohol to be served or parties to be held. Saw a sign in Fibbers saying they are shut from 5.00 p.m. Saturday.

The Grand Mosque is one of our guests MUST DO things, well worth a visit, aim to get there before 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. there is also an afternoon tour but I don't know the time. They can then join one of the guided tours. It is best if they dressed modestly, but ladies are required to collect an abaya and shayla from the garment rooms and wear them during their visit, men can go in their normal clothes as ling as they are wearing long trousers, if wearing shorts they will also need to be covered. The tour last approx 1 hour and covers many of the architectural features of the building and the guides will also answer any questions regarding the building and Islam. My guests usually make a full days trip to AD, the Grand Mosque first, then cake and coffee (the scones are particularly good) at Emirates Palace, you now have to book before hand to gain access to the hotel, then on to Yas Marina Circuit, refreshments on the roof of Yas Hotel and then on to Ferrari World for so inclined or homeward bound for others. some of the tour companies do trips to AD covering the mosque etc, but as far as I know they drive past Emirates Palace and don't go in, you could ask them to do a tailor-made trip in a car/minibus but after overhearing someone booking one they did seem on the expensive side, it would be easier to hire a taxi driver for the day and make you own trip. Make sure they have a camera with plenty of space on the data card as there is plenty of wonderful things especially in the mosque to take photos of.

Many of the shops shut from 1-4, quieter in the mornings, but can be very busy in the evenings.

Thank you, for saying " thank you " many don't and it's annoying when people have gone out of their way to help and it's not recognised.

You haven't made it clear, did the nanny take your baby out of the room and was unobserved for 10 mins? The baby then cried when brought back to you. Or was it only the maid who was out of the room and your baby got upset when she returned? Different set of circumstances which would lead to different conclusions and advice. However whatever the circumstances, got with your gut instinct, your Child's wellbeing overrides the convenience of getting a nanny who falls into your lap so to speak.

You should see the traffic on Al Sofouh Rd going towards JBR been at snail pace for the last 4+ hours. Should start charging Salik fees on JBR they'd make a fortune!

Planned on going a few years ago, but most travel insurance policies excluded Cuba for some reason, so decided to give it a miss. Might be worth checking your travel insurance policy before booking.

Biggest laugh I had in ages was a few weeks ago watching master chef australia final, one of the contestants did a trio of p**k, he could prepare it, cook it and the judges could eat it but the actual word was bleeped out for the whole episode. Just can't understand the logic, if they'd banned the episode or all references to his dishes that I could understand to a certain extent, but it defeated the object just bleeping out the word.

Still on at the Bonnington but from 8.00 p.m. But not as good as it used to be, supposed to get 3 free glasses of bubbly or 3 free cocktails, couldn't taste any alcohol in the cocktails and only get about a third of a glass of bubbly, so really only getting 1 glass, despite numerous attempts to try to get the waiter to top them up to a more reasonable level.;)

I found diet A&W Rootbeer once at Choithrams in Bur Dubai. I'm glad I bought 8 cans, because when I went back it was all gone, and my inquiries were met with blank stares-- sigh Yesterday at the Al Maya in the Bahar section of JBR had diet A&W, regular A&W rootbeer, and A&W vanilla cream soda. It was on a shelf at the end of one of the aisles toward the middle of the store. I usually get regular and diet root beer at Park n Shop JLT.

The best has to be Yalumba at le meridian airport hotel I know it's pricey, but with free flowing quality champagne, wonderful food and party atmosphere it's hard to beat. Just had DD's 25th birthday there and we had a blast. DH must of ate his weight in lobster tails!

No I don't think so, you have to identify yourself as a travel member when booking and present your Entertainer travel card and voucher when checking in, check out the T/C's page for more details.

I think you have been treated very badly and you should definitely contact the owner and if I was you I would also post your comments on their facebook website https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Bridal-Room-DubaiUAE/156309731086952 and see what response you get. Don't underestimate the power of negative publicity. This should have been one of your happiest occasions and something to treasure I remember with fond memories taking my DD bridal wear shopping, it was a wonderful day and feel sad that you did not get the same opportunity. Whatever the response you receive I would certainly research other bridal wear suppliers and start again and hopefully have a much better experience.

MOE parking spaces are on the tight side I usually prefer to go up to the upper two levels, it's usually much quieter and can have a choice of spaces. I find it's worth the extra effort and hassle.

Masafi never recycle bottles, so they won't take them away. We have been known cut them in half and use for punch when having parties, apart from that I can't think of another use.

Check out http://www.yasisland.ae/en/events-calendar/flash-events/yas-island-show-weekends/concerts/janet-jackson-live-on-yas-island-abu-dhabi/ for all the hotels on Yas Island. Centro and Park Inn are probably the budget ones. If you are going to a concert most of the hotels do a special deal so may be worth giving some a ring.

No, not christmas holidays Im talking about annual leave of 30 days which DH is trying to use to visit family. DH's company won't let managers take 30 days all in one go (which is the norm here) too long to be away from work. Suits us fine as prefer odd week or two breaks but could also be a reason it's being refused.
