After having suffered enough from all kind of tricks pulled by the real estate brokers and their 'potential clients", where should I advertise my property? Any tips and advice will be very much appreciated.

We have a villa in Jumeirah Golf Estates. On top of the 40000 Dhs service charge we were slammed with 3 months security deposit which they say is non-refundable. If we sell the villa in the future, we can ask the new owner if he agrees to pay it back to us?! They say this is per law as it is in the sell/purchase agreement but don't want to show us where exactly it is. On top of it there is 12% interest rate on late payment of the service charge. I think it is illegal about the security deposit but not sure. They have put interest on it too. Which authority regulates this and where can we complain?

We have just bought a villa and were told that we have to pay housing fee which is 5% of the purchase value. Can someone confirm it it is true? edited by darsy on 22/06/2014

I used to suffer on a regular basis and I know from my doctor that if there is fever, an antibiotic should be added, better to go back and ask for blood tests. Mine used to be quite severe but usually lasted no more than a couple of days.

It affects all investments outside Dubai as per my husband's Swiss bank. They advised that upon death they are looking into your current residence, not your passport.

I just need some advice on what the average help from Mum and Dad amounts to? The University where my son studies recommends £220 per week whereas some of my friends who have children there find it outrageous and the average they recommend is 500, which should be enough for all expenses apart from the accommodation which we pay separately. I didn't want to hijack the pocket money thread and hence my thread appeared.;-) If £220 excludes rent and study costs than I think this is more than enough for a student to live on. £500 a week would equal to about £36000 wage ( with all the tax taken into account). Most students do not earn that kind of money straight after finishing uni and they have to pay rent themselves, so I believe this would teach them nothing about how to live in a real life. No, no, we are talking about £500 per month.

Chocks01, I read the website and the lose weight section in particular, maybe I have misunderstood. Are you aware of any side effects? Sue62, well said, I just need more information from the ladies that use Lean 95, the first time I heard about it was in this thread. Louisedvs, well done!

I got my jar of Lean95 yesterday, but imagine my surprise when I opened it at home and it was not sealed. The scoop is there but I am a little bit apprehensive. Is there any problem, even if I go back how do I prove it was not sealed. Ladies, be careful and check it on the spot. I mixed one scoop with 500 ml water but it looks a lot to take at once, the taste is not too awful, it is cinnamon flavoured but really it is too much for me. And they recommend to drink another bottle of 500 ml within the next 2-3 hours, why is that, does anybody know? Also, this energy that everybody is talking about, it has nothing to do with heart palpitations and stuff, right, as it is with other weight loss supplements. Please give more info.

Yes, it is. When I had mine removed it hurt me non-stop for 2 weeks. Removal of bottom wisdom teeth is much more painful than for the upper ones. Mine didn't stop bleeding so I had to visit the dentist again.

My dilemma is different. Our son is doing A levels at the moment and hoping to be accepted at LSE in 2012 to study Economics. His GCSE's are 3 A* and 7 A's and he is predicted A*A* AA. The course is very competitive and apparently his GCSE results are not good enough, the average applicant there has 8 A*. LSE is infamous for their love and preference of international students because of the higher fees. My son is adamant that if he doesn't get there he will re-apply again. In 2012 the fees for Home students will be £ 9000. For international it will be like 11-12000. We don't have a UK home but were advised by the school to apply for Home status. My question is, does he stnd a better chance as per the given circumstances if he applies directly as International?

Only 8 weeks to go until I go home for the summer and I feel like a big fat moo. So I thought its about time I got my bum in gear and tried to shift a few pounds so I don't have to hear the usual comments from people Ive not seen lately of "ooo you look well!" arrgh I know what you really mean!!! So I was thinking of doing the urban kick classes at the ranches. Has anyone been? Does it matter if your a beginner? I used to do kickboxing years ago so not bothered about that part but just that my general fitness is seriously lacking! Was also planning on doing zumba at al areesh on a saturday evening if anyone fancies it? Can't dance for toffee unless I've had a few voddys but thought it could be fun. Do you think if I halve the chocolate and drink intake ;) and just do general healthy eating and 2 urban kick classes and 1 zumba a week I could lose at least a 10 kg in that time?? Or do I need to do more eek? I too was feeling like this and decided to start Weight Watchers online just over a week ago (and I started on a thursday!!!) anyway after one week have lost 5lbs. Ive been going to our community pool in AR at night for half an hours quick swim twice a week also as its alot cooler then. I have just over 8 weeks until I go back to the uk and was overweight when i arrived here last August and have managed to put on the "Dubai stone" as well. Anyway I am not going back heavier then when i arrived!!!! How do I join them online? How much does it cost? I've heard they introduced the Pro Points..

In the research I've done, for the subjects and universities my daughter is interested in, it is made very clear that there are far fewer places allocated for international students than for home and EU students. I don't know the ratio of places to those applying, though. Sorry I can't be more help. edited by simpleasabc on 20/05/2011[/quote Thank you, he wants to study law and no matter how hard I try I cannot find any statistics for the number of applicants and places allocated.

Please help with this one. Our son is going to apply this year through UKAS. We are British and have been in the Gulf for the last 7 years. Getting a home status is not really mission impossible but there is a great chance that he would be denied such. I am very much aware of all the requirements and wouldn't like to discuss them now. What I am more interested in is how to apply first, as a home student or international. Home students compete against home students, including those from the EU and there is a cap on their number, whereas international students compete against themselves. Rumour has it that international students are given lower grade requirements and there is no limit on their places. This is yet to be proven because I hear the opposite quite often, very bad application/offer ratio, limited number of places , etc. Each university decides for itself whether you are home or international, in our case our son wants to apply for the top 5 universities, his GCSEs are apparently not super excellent 4A* and 6As, and from next year the difference in fees will be not that outrageous although it is quite a lot of money. Please advise me and share your stories as well. Thank you edited by darsy on 20/05/2011 edited by darsy on 20/05/2011

I renewed both my childrens passports in Newport in February, was very easy and took 3 hours, they did add on the 6 months they still had on their old passports. You cannot print off application forms on the web for UK renewal but can contact them and ask to send to a UK address so they are waiting for you upon landing in the UK. One thing to bear in mind the applicant does have to be in the UK at the time of applying and you have to provide a UK address, they did ask for a letter from the person resident at the UK address, which I duly got and then was never asked for it. Hope this helps How to contact them un London? Can you please give me their details? Thanks

You must send it to Dusseldorf, it takes up to 6 weeks for a first passport, it is written in the application and that's what we were told on the phone. Luckily it arrived after 3 weeks.

My kids were vaccinated here as per the calendar, I think at 12 months, not sure at the moment. They had some fever for a while but generally it was ok. But, having said so and after reading about the potential side effects I am very reluctant about re-vaccinating them at the age of 6. In my home country the re-immunisation is not done until the age of 10-11. You can have them separately only in the UK and the US, that is what the doctor here told me. Not to mention they wanted to give them 3 vaccines at the same time regardless of the fact they were not feel well.

What is the best time to have one: immediately after the period or? I had my basic at 35, now I am 41, have regular ultrasound check-ups but is it time for another one? In some places they recommend to have them around the age of 50 if you don't have problems. Also in Europe they take 2 X-rays, while here they are following the American system and have 4, two for each breast.
