Those are exciting ducks pollydxb ;) Do you have a particular hospital in mind? Most have maternity package prices on their websites. For instance, the American Hospital has it here: http://www.ahdubai.com/dynamicdata/main.aspx I know you know this but I'll say it anyway, you do also have to have a contingency plan if things don't go to plan. I would be extremely hesitant to have a baby here without insurance or a big pot of cash that you are happy to spend. I'm just stressing this as I had three uneventful pregnancies and deliveries then a bad fall during my fourth pregnancy changed things totally. Our insurance didn't cover all the extra antenatal care needed (which was "only" 20k or so) but it would have covered a premature delivery which we were told was very likely. In the end my baby went to term but knowing the cost (which would have been in the hundreds of thousands) was going to be covered was one less stress to deal with.

You can send them pictures via their new(ish) mobile app under "Traffic Services" and "WeAreAllPolice". It notes on there, though, [b'>that it's prohibited to capture pictures of the vehicle when a passenger is inside the vehicle[/b'>, and prohibited to capture picture while driving, etc. You can only take pictures of a car when it is parked illegally? Not when someone is actually driving (or even just sitting) in it?

My friend who is a lawyer recently spent some time in India giving free legal counsel to people who couldn't afford to pay for it. Nothing of a criminal nature, just sorting out rental disputes etc for people who find it impossible to wade through all the levels of bureaucracy on their own. She said she actually felt like she made a real difference to a small number of people and the need was huge. She also volunteered in hospitals run by monks (I think) while she was there. No qualifications were needed for the hospital work. Could your friend organise for professional club members to donate their time in their given field and for non professionals to volunteer in hospitals?

I had a problem a while back with a clinic refusing to give me copies of my notes. I called the MOH and they said they are legally obliged to. He told me to tell the clinic I had spoken with the MOH, that they had to give me copies of my notes and to call him back if they still refused. As soon as I mentioned MOH to the clinic a manager got on the line and they had my notes photocopied and ready the same day.

Don't go to bed hungry if it means you can't sleep Guinness! Be hungry during the day when you can feel smug about sticking to your diet rather than just frustrated that you can't sleep.

No thread is ever going to follow an exact format that keeps everyone happy. Who knows wickedangel, tomorrow there might be another poster on here having a rant about asking for possible job advice and having two other posters go totally off on a tangent on her thread ;)

Apologies to the OP for totally digressing on your thread. Back on topic, I know a number of families who have used a Super Nanny here for issues they were having or just general advice. On the basis of this I'd say there is definitely a market for it.

It's the wording of the post, I wouldnt mind a comment like "did you try so & so.." to which I'd reply "thank you for your reply yes I did but it didn't work.." But a judgemental post is not what I was looking for especially when I did not ask for advice, I was clearly showing interest in the service OP mentioned when I posted We obviously have a very different view of the forum! I expect anything I say on here to be up for comment and I might not always like what I hear. I am sorry that you felt my comment was judgmental, I certainly didn't mean it as such.

Hi wickedangel, I'm sorry if my advice was unwanted however you did in fact post it on here which is why I commented. If you had added 'please no advice unless you are a trained professional' I would have said nothing but you did not in any way make this clear in your post. If I post about a parenting dilemma I am having I welcome advice from other parents, if I don't agree I just ignore it. I'm also sorry you felt the need to justify yourself but if you don't want any information on a public forum, just don't put it on there. You could easily have just said "I'd be interested if the price was right" and left it at that. You do also have the option of deleting your post if you realise in retrospect that you have posted more that you wanted to. I am happy to delete my post where I quoted you, please let me know if you wish me to do so.

I do need a maid as I am working and I just have to be more careful in the future. I just so disheartened as the stuff that were stolen were more of a sentimental value :o( I'm sorry you've had things taken things that mean a lot to you :( It is hard if you are having to try to remember not to leave thing lying around, you need to be able to relax in your own home. You may have more luck if you can find a maid that has been with another family for a long time and has a good reference from them for being honest and trustworthy. You may need to pay more but if you are able to afford it then it is worth it for a bit more peace of mind. It still is no guarantee of course but it would be more unusual for someone of previously proven good character to suddenly start stealing. Good luck.

Spoke to the gardener today and said he had seen the mother also climbing the wall to use our pool. I won't talk again with any one them, next time police will be call. Oh my! The cheek of it, who on earth would ever think it's ok to jump the wall to use your neighbours pool??? I would tell them nicely once to stay off my property, then as you say, next time police. Whatever next, wandering in to your house and making themselves at home? A real life Goldilocks.

I just dont want to lose anymore things around the house. Is there anything that I can do to prevent this? The only sure way is to not have a maid! If you have someone in your home there isn't any way you can absolutely guarantee they aren't stealing from you. You just have to be sensible about not leaving valuables or cash lying around, pay attention to your belongings and hope they are trustworthy.

I have another question, would you be ok with a male teacher for early years? I have never dealt with this but a friend of mine has a male teacher for her DD year 1 and she isnt too pleased..what are your thoughts? I would absolutely be ok with this. If my children are attending a school I have to have enough trust in the school that they have done the necessary background checks on all teachers, male or female.

Surely you know her name or have a copy of paperwork from when you sponsored her though? The police should be able to track her through immigration and find her new sponsor. Exactly what I was going to say. I'm sure her new sponsor would like to know too, no doubt she is also stealing from them.

I'd be interested if the price is reasonable ;) DS who will be 5 in. November refuses to feed himself, refuses to sleep in his own bed & is dependant on us in general, we are more towards gentle discipline & we can't tackle those areas. My children would starve if they refused to feed themselves, I just don't have enough hands! I'd do a sticker chart then just let him get on with it. If he eats, lots of praise and a sticker goes on the chart. If he doesn't don't make a big fuss over it, he will just have to be hungry until the next meal time.

I love love love my Honda Odyssey. It depends on why you need the extra seats but if it is because you often have a lot of passengers the Odyssey is brilliant. The back seats are really flexible. You can have six back seats, three in the second row and three in the back row. They are all proper full time seats not fold down or you can disappear the middle back seat in to the floor if only five rear seats are needed. The middle second row seat can also be removed or folded down to be a cup holder. It has a good boot, I've had three children's bikes, three scooters and a buggy in there, tight fit but they did all go in! It is comfortable, is nice to drive and has good air con. As Redrec says, it does really well in safety tests. It has rear sliding doors which is very handy in mall car parks. Did I mention I love it? :)

thank you for your replies. My maid gets both the Muslim and Christian holidays off and the Eid after Ramadan this year she got 4 days. I don't, AT ALL, begrudge giving my maid time off, I just wanted to know what the 'norm' was as my maid wanted both days off (Sun and Mon - on top of the Fri and Sat she already gets). edited by gentledaisy on 03/10/2014 We give our maid whatever the private sector gets. This year it is three days, Fri/Sat/Sun. http://www.emirates247.com/news/emirates/uae-eid-break-till-monday-for-government-sunday-for-private-2014-09-24-1.563790

Hi SimpleDimple5 A bit off tangent but have you read Born to Run or any other of the barefoot running books? I changed to a pair or barefoot style running shoes a couple of years ago and once you get used to them the difference they make is amazing. Much less joint pain, injury etc and they feel so much better. There has been quite a shift in running circles in recent years about the amount of support feet actually need and what previously was considered 'problems' that need correcting with orthodics and extra support actually aren't problems at all. Sorry to get all preachy but it's made such a difference for me.

Good for you Anon! Like the other ladies say, it's just plain hard work and denial. You have to make a decision that being a size you are happy with is more important than eating what you feel like and slobbing on the couch. A 'treat' is not a a treat if it makes you feel bad about yourself. It's about making the right choices to get where you want to be, all day, every day.

Kinokuniya generally has a decent choice. My children like 'It's not the Stork' although it doesn't cover periods etc and may be a little young for a tween. It's worth going in for a browse, they are tucked away in a corner in the children's section, you'll probably have to ask where they are.

2. Whoever planned the Al Ain exit/entrance to DSO from SMBZ road should be deported. It's [i'>dreadful[/i'>. I normally enjoy driving here but some afternoons coming out of Repton the traffic from the Al Ain turnoff is backed right up past the point you have to enter SMBZ road from Repton. You have to force your way through the queue through trucks and buses determined not to let you then pull out from a standstill in to traffic doing 120 kmph. Eyes to the front to see cars pulling in front of you and stopping to push in to the queue and eyes behind to not get hit by someone flying past. I don't have that many eyes, it gives me the horrors.

Daza, that's very sad, it's what I've suspected might happen. Do you happen to know how the cats died? Were they hit by cars? I wonder if there was any effort to contact the cats' owners, how dismal if there were not because they would be the same position as the OP. I wish there was a more concerted effort here to treat pets as pets, instead of disposable items. It's not the gardeners fault, no doubt this is what they've been instructed to do. Yes, both hit by cars. One of the times I posted a description on here. The other time I didn't get a good look at the cat but it was by a security gate so I spoke to security and asked them to leave a note for all the guards that cat was killed by a car in case anyone came asking. I have my doubts the owners ever found out in either case :(

I'm really sorry your cat is missing Scottishbambi. Just to re-iterate what Artemis2 is saying, depending on where you are, make sure you check with gardeners in your area. I'm in the Ranches and on two occasions I've seen community gardeners putting a dead cat in to a bag and taking them away.

I'm sorry this has happened to you :( Nothing happened and being blackmailed sounds like total bs, sorry. I think it is possible to move on from infidelity but it would require complete honesty first. I don't think it is possible to truly resolve something if you feel like you don't know the complete truth. I think all you can do is talk to your husband and see what he says, decide what you believe then take it from there. I'd be going through his phone and computer too. Good luck.

I could just be confusing myself but I think the ban at the moment might make things a bit trickier. Ideally she would agree to work 12 months then go home, she could then come back to another job if she wanted. But, at the moment she will need to be sponsored in order to come back in. I can't imagine there are any employers who would agree to sponsor her and have her on vacation for the first month! You need to sit down and talk to her and she needs to make a decision about whether she is coming back or not, November is not far off so it not unreasonable to ask for her decision now. If she decides she wants to move back home you could ask her if she could work the full 12 months then go home with an extra months salary in lieu. If she wants to stay, she goes home in November, works for you for a month on her return then starts a new job when her contract with you ends in January. Alternatively you could just take the loss and find someone suitable for a live in nanny job now. Your current maid could either find a new job here or choose to go home. You don't need to pay anything other than monthly salary and flights when she goes on vacation.
