Hi Daza, could you give me more info to find your exact bread recipe on Thermomix? Would appreciate that! Tia I can't post the link on my iPad but if you go to recipecommunity.com.au then search for 'Cyndi O'Meara's gluten free bread slightly tweaked' you'll find it. I use quinoa instead of arrowroot flour and a few more seeds.

Daza, it does look like an amazing machine! Like the Martians brought it ;-) Seriously though, what a smart smart thing! Does it bake bread like the traditional bread maker in which you put the ingredients in a certain order, leave it and the bread will be ready in a few hours? edited by Chocobella on 19/05/2014 It is amazing! It doesn't bake the bread, you bake it in the oven but you do everything else in the thermomix, including milling the flour. In the past few days the things I have made in it then baked in the oven have been; bread, muesli bars, cupcakes, chicken sweet potato and kale patties. Actually cooking in it I've made dahl, bolognese, a stir fry and custard. Making but requiring no cooking has been hommous, ice cream, smoothies, juices and nut butter.

I don't think she needs a psychologist. As other posters have said, potty training regression is totally normal and nothing to worry about. All of my children have done it to some degree. The bigger fuss you make of it, the more of an issue it will become. I know it can be hard and I totally sympathise with having a bad day and shouting but if it happens you need to take a deep breath, count to five and deal with it calmly. If you make you daughter anxious about it it will make things worse. I agree with wickedangel that you need to focus on the positive reinforcement when she gets it right. A sticker chart is a great idea. I love a good sticker chart :) There are going to be a lot worse problems you encounter with your daughter than a bit of potty training regression. If you panic and rush her off to a psychologist every time she behaves in a way that upsets or confuses you then you'd better have good medical insurance. Not to mention she'll end up thinking there is something wrong with her when there really isn't. Children rarely stick to the plans we make for them, it doesn't mean anything is wrong. Think how much your daughter has learned in the short amount of time she has been here. Huge amounts, massive, children are amazing, focus on that :)

Really interesting post marytodd, love science :) I agree with Izzy, there really is no substitute for the real thing. You just have to accept that gluten free tastes and feels different and learn to enjoy it (or not). It's a bit like there is no vegetarian bacon that tastes just like the real thing. I make a gluten free bread for my children's breakfast which is nicer than any one I've bought from a shop. Quite light and fluffy for gluten free. My children aren't gluten free but the bread has more goodness in it than a standard loaf plus they normally have sandwiches for lunch and I don't think that too much of any one thing is great for them. It's a Thermomix recipe, the thermomix is great for gluten free.

I haven't used a spiraliser so can't comment on that. I like the effect of a julienne peeler but I always manage to cut my fingers to pieces when I use it. Honestly it's like raking your hand over razor blades.

I wouldn't do it either. If we got invited to a children's party in a park in June I'd be dreading it, sorry. You might get lucky and have a cooler day but chances are it will be miserable. If you could involve lots of water it might be bearable though. What age is your son? At The Beach at JBR there is a splash play area that looks fun. Paid entry, completely enclosed. We were at the beach there on Saturday morning and it looked like they were setting up for a party.

Janatks, I'm sorry, I don't really like to be negative when people share their experiences but I find your post appalling. A struggling mother has come on here asking for help and you pretty much tell her she isn't doing good enough and must try harder. When you are suffering from baby induced sleep deprivation the last thing you need to hear is 'my baby was sleeping through the night from x number of weeks'. It is not helpful and makes you feel even more inadequate. Plus to be honest, a three week old baby should not be going 8 hours without food every night so your advice is irresponsible. Furthermore, good for you that your children were doing that but guess what, you got lucky. Yes routines can help but it all very much depends on the child. My first child was sleeping through from 3 months or so and like you (and in hindsight, to my shame) I was smug. You just need to be strict, routine, routine etc. Along came baby number two, I did everything the same and he didn't sleep through until he was over 1. A good and much needed lesson for me. The OPs husband is not a boy, he is a man and he needs to man up and look after his family. Yes, making time for each other is important but right now the OPs baby is 7 WEEKS old. The wining, dining and romance can wait, right now the OP just needs some help getting through the day, she doesn't need to feel she needs to pamper (PAMPER, can you be serious) her husband who needs a good kick up the pants. OP, I am sorry you are going through this. Your priority now needs to looking after your baby and yourself, focus on that. Your husband needs to grow up but unfortunately he will probably need to do that in his own time. For now, ask, or pay, for help wherever you can get it. Put your foot down and say no more guests. Tell people your are struggling, it helps to share a burden. This will pass, things will get better and you will get through this. Take care.

Hairdressers in Dubai cant cut a fringe. I have tried many salons for this and no one could do it right. Its like a foreign concept or something. Best fringe cut I ever had was one I did myself by watching youtube. Second best one was from a hairdresser at Salon Ink called Ali. I once went to the local salon for just a fringe trim thinking how could anyone possibly mess that up. Walked out looking like Spock.

That seems a lot in a class for non swimmers. At that age and ability my children have had two in a class, going up to a maximum of three after a few terms once they are swimming a bit. Then once they are a bit older and swimming confidently it's up to four. They swim in the Ranches with Super Sports.

I remember my brother and his wife wanting to go out for dinner when my son was 9 weeks old and driving home at 11pm barely being able to keep my eyes open with the baby crying in the back of the car! Needless to say, they dont have kids so haven't been through those tough weeks. Tell them you have an 8pm curfew! My brothers were the same when I had my first baby, lots of eye rolling and mutterings that I was being difficult about not wanting/being able to do certain things anymore. Now they all have children and the mutterings have stopped :)

I generally find around 4-12 weeks the toughest time after a baby. The adrenaline and excitement has worn off and sleep deprivation is really kicking in, eeesh. For babies number two onwards, it's not the same shock as baby number one but you don't get the chance to sleep when the baby is sleeping when you have other children around so the sleep deprivation can be worse. All in all probably not a great time to be having guests! You need to be very clear that you won't be up for entertaining or running around after anyone and your husband needs to enforce this while they are here because you will have enough on your plate. It's easy to do this nicely, just tell them you are really looking forward to seeing them but tell what you've said on here. Guests will probably be a good distraction for your 3 year old but he'll still need time with his Mummy so he doesn't feel totally displaced. It's totally acceptable to ask guests to muck in and help when you've got a new baby, don't feel like you have to be the hostess with the mostess or you (and your baby) will just end up stressed out and miserable. As for sunbathing at Christmas, it depends where your guests are from. If it's the UK they'll probably think the weather is glorious and be happy sunbathing when we are all shivering in our scarves :D

Just curious to know if traditional wedding etiquette still exists, in my day an invitation was always formally given in the form of a printed invitation and without that no one would ever consider themselves properly invited or turn up if they had not received a card. To do so would have been considered crashing. I get that the person who is being discussed here was given a verbal ok to attend but since that was not followed with a card, and seeing that she was not even a close friend or someone in the OP's immediate circle and she went off and planned flights and hotels on the verbal ok I wonder if things have changed these days? I think things have changed. It used to be that you needed the formal invitation for all the details, with so many people having wedding websites, formal invitations aren't needed for the details, even if they are normally still sent. In this case I'd consider that as unfortunate and on the spot as it might have been, it was still an invitation. 'I'd love to come' followed by 'OK, here is all the information you need'.

As you mentioned you did have your parents for support, here OP would not have that. She would not be able to go out for a dinner with her husband, or have a bit of 'me' time without the help of a cleaner and part-time maid the least. What about friends? In the UK I had a group of friends that we used to take it in turns to babysit for each other. At times when I haven't had a maid here I've had friends babysit and I've done the same for them or other friends.

The best thing to do is to just smile and laugh it off and focus on having a wonderful time. This is one of those moments when being a gracious hostess really matters or you'll end up ruining not only your guest's experience but your own experience too. Welcome her to your wedding, make sure she has someone to talk to and then just let the evening take it's course. Absolutely Tallybalt, couldn't agree more.

I really feel for you TA but in all honesty I think that un-inviting someone to your wedding is an awful thing to do and you should just suck it up and let her come. We all make mistakes when planning our weddings (I made lots!) and there are far worse mistakes you could make than inviting a guest who in all honesty you'll probably barely even notice on your big day. If you do un-invite her, she'll feel awful, you'll feel guilty and if her flights are un refundable she might go anyway (just not to your wedding) and you'll be worried about bumping in to her. edited by Daza on 11/05/2014

Maybe it depends on the age of your children but with young children I can't stand Bubbalicious. The children's activities are quite spread out and it's chaotic so if your children are young enough that you need to watch them it's not much fun at all. It's quite a heavy drinking brunch which I don't like with children either. Agree the the Marriott in Deira is fab. If your children are young you can request that they set a table up by the play area so you can watch them without having to move - it's nice to be able to actually eat when you are paying for it!

A long time ago I was in a terrible relationship. My control freak boyfriend used to tell me constant lies about my friends to try to turn me against them. He tried to make me doubt my friendships to isolate me. He chipped away at my confidence to the point where I felt like I couldn't function without him. I'm so grateful that my friends didn't give up on me and that they helped put me back together when I came out the other side, no recriminations, no judgements. OP, I hope your friend has friends that can do the same for her. A couple of years ago I apologised to one of my friends for the worry I put her through. She got very tearful and said I had nothing to apologise for and she was just sorry they hadn't realised sooner and done something. I wish every woman had friends like mine. I was living away from my home country at the time and the vast majority of my friends still don't know what happened. They would tell you that I'd be the most unlikely person ever to get in to that situation. I never thought I would.

When we first arrived in Dubai we got around in taxis for the first month until we got cars organised. My daughter was in a stage two seat, with a bit of fiddling about we worked out we could attach her car seat to the back of her buggy, resting on the strut between the back wheels and using a luggage strap. Maybe you could take her buggy when you buy the next car seat and see if you can find one to do the same with? It takes a bit longer getting in and out of cabs but totally manageable.

Are thee any other parents who live nearby who you can ask? Explain it's a one off and promise to return the favour? Where are your children at school? Failing that, call Careem and get a driver for the pick ups? You go to but al least you wouldn't be driving. To be honest, if it was a very rare occurrence, I had no plan b and I didn't feel I was safe to drive I'd probably keep all the children off school for the day. Better they miss a day of school than have me driving them when I'm not fit. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Slap on the bum, no wouldn't say anything, slap across the face, eeeesh it's a tough one. You risk inflaming the situation and making it even worse for the child but it feels wrong not to stick up for a child who can't stick up for themselves. In that situation I'd be inclined to give a quiet 'deep breath, he's only a baby' to the mum.' Unless it was in my home country in which case I'd call the police.

Why do you think it's a recipe for disaster Lorax? The fact the maid has sponsored her husband's tourist visa or simply the fact he is here? If it's the former, whilst I agree it is odd she didn't mention it before he came, it's a very common thing to do and doesn't have any bearing on your friend's husband as the maid's sponsor. It's simply a back door way of coming here to find a job.

I ponder this question every Sandance and am in two minds about it. One one hand, it's nice that someone feels body confident despite having a less than 'perfect' body. On the other, sometimes it just really doesn't look good. Although I guess that is a matter of personal opinion. I think Abby Clancy looks great in a tiny bikini whereas Dawn French probaby not. There might be others think the opposite.
