Sorry Jupiter, my post probably wasn't very helpful at all! The more time I spend with babies the more I've given up trying to work them out. It's all too much effort, I just want to enjoy the cuddles.

Hi Jupiter Your baby is doing great in the sleep department, well done to you both :) At 4 months he us still very young and it's to be expected that he is still waking in the night. There will of course always be some babies that are sleeping through at that age but most aren't. I'd follow his cues on the dream feed, if he is taking less try cutting it out and see how it goes. It's different for all babies, my first loved the dream feed and it got her through from young. The next baby happily took it but it made no difference to his sleep, the next refused it altogether and my current baby fed every two hours until 7 months. Babies do things when they are ready, then just when you think you've got it cracked they change again. Try not to worry too much about it and do whatever keeps you sane :)

Isn't it a matter of where you personally decide to draw the line though kiwispiers? Some might think you are over reacting with regards to what food you allow your MIL to give your son, whereas for you it's something you don't make exceptions for. For the OP, giving food at night is non negotiable, should she not be allowed to make that call? I'm sure I over react with regards to my children all time, all part of being a parent I think.

What is it for? The eternal question!!!!!!! Surely it's only purpose is to further line the pockets of the school's owner? Out of interest, what do the not for profit schools charge?

Normal, unfortunately. My children's school charges 1000 dhs assessment fee. It's just another way for the school to make money.

I think you are very lucky and don't know it. You are leaving your child with your mother in law, instead of a nanny or maid. She maybe your mother in law ( that most of us dread ;) but she is the child's grandmother and has genuine love for him. She is not hired help to be left with set instructions. She is family and has parented before. The couple of hours, between nursery and the time you get home, you should just trust her! End of! If you can't, then you should reevaluate your options. No matter how tired you were last night, you had the option of taking care of DS yourself. She "HELPED" you, so no matter what she did, I would just let it pass and move on. Next time do it yourself, then there would be no issue. I am sorry but I have no tolerance for mums, who have help from families, and don't realize how lucky they are. I had zero help during my pregnancies and the years the children were young, and think the ones who have it should be grateful for it. Looking at it from another perspective, should the MIL not also be grateful that she gets to spend so much time with her grandchild? Many grandparents don't get to see their grandchildren on a yearly, let alone daily basis. My in-laws see their grandchildren twice a year, they would consider anyone who gets to see their grandchildren on a daily basis as very very lucky. I struggle with my MIL trying to take over with the children when she is here on short visits. If the OP has her MIL living with her full time is it not understandable that she wants to be able to draw certain boundaries with regards to the way she wants to raise her child?

I don't think you are over reacting, given you are pregnant AND in the process if weaning I'd say you are reacting in a way quite consistent with hormones :) Does your MIL live with you full time?

Also, I never use baby wipes. Damp cotton pad, squirt of coconut oil and you have a perfect clean soft baby bum. Much less chance of nappy rash too. I keep glass push top dispensers of coconut oil in our bathrooms and a small squirty bottle of it in the nappy bag.

I've never understood why people load up their baby's delicate skin with products. They really don't need them. I only ever use water to wash, no soaps, foam or creams. For cleaning the nappy area, cradle cap and any newborn dryness I use virgin coconut oil from Organic Foods and Cafe. The Change Initiative also often stocks.

I have a firepit in our garden in Arabian Ranches which I've never been told I can't use. Have also been to quite a few parties with firepits and it's never been an issue. Bonfires in the desert have always been fine too. Obviously make sure you put it out properly :)

My school uses it. It's ok on the iPad but I don't like it on my phone. There is a LOT of information on there and it's very easy to miss on a small screen. I also find it a bit of information overload although that may be because it's a big school and I have three children there. I could well be wrong but I assume the school pays the communicator company a set rate then the school can earn revenue from ads if they wish. In the case of my children's school, this will probably mean we will have about 90% of the content being ads before too long :D

I'm sure i heard the news today and they had said he returned to rehab a week before his death. Ofcourse its sad because of the kids but he knew he had kids. My sympathy over celeb overdoses does not exsits. They obviousily have too much money for their own good, they run out of things to do so they turn to drugs. Pretty sure he could have donated the money he used to buy the drugs to a someone who really needed it. I find it sad that you think if someone is rich and/or famous then they are undeserving of compassion.

You cant be certan of that. Everyone paints a pretty picture that they want the world to see. Being a celeb, he did a good job of it but the reality is the "celeb lifestyle" caught up with him But his addictions pre date his celebrity so how can you say it was the 'celeb lifestyle' that caught up with him? Very sad for his family, a total waste.

Thank you! It gave me a clearer idea of how I should initiate our financial set up post marriage. My future husband is very generous and he doesn’t mind really, but I grew up very independent and I have so much pride when it comes to my career and earnings. But since I will be jobless after the marriage, it is not easy for me to swallow that I will be depending to his finances. After reading your tips I think we should go for joint account and big spending will be discussed but not otherwise- I like this approach! Thanks ladies!! I haven't felt any loss of independence or pride since my husbands salary became our only source of income. Money is only one of the many things that you can contribute to a marriage, my non financial contribution is just as important as my husband's financial contribution and I take pride in that. Hope that makes sense!

Keep a running tally in your phone. Every time you spend something deduct it from the running total, that way you will know exactly how much cash you should have at all times. Deduct it the second you hand over cash for something, if you leave it to do later you might forget and wrongly think you have money missing.

Hi TA As soon as we got married my husband and I closed all our separate accounts and had all our finances joint. Our salaries went in to the same account which we both used as we wanted. For big purchases we'd run it by the other but not otherwise. When I stopped working to start a family we just carried on as usual, the only difference was no salary going in from me. Neither of us have ever considered it my husbands money, it's family money of which we are both fully and equally entitled. We have similar views on money and what it is reasonable to spend it on and it's always worked perfectly, it's not something I ever think about. I couldn't bear to be given an allowance like a child, to be honest I wouldn't have married my husband if he thought that us how our post family finances should work.

Some companies are cheeky and they'll hire expats already in the UAE, thinking they can just hire them on a local contract - I've known several people this has happened to. Expats, whether already in the UAE or not, should be hired on expat cotnracts, because at the end of the day, the company still has to offer you flights back to your home country when you leave. I get housing allowance as part of my salary package. My DH when he was here, got a large monthly salary, then a completely seperate housing allowance, that would be paid directly to the landlord. Depends on the company. edited by FairyDust on 03/02/2014 Why is it cheeky? My husband was hired on a local contract. His salary allows us a nice lifestyle and money in the bank. When he leaves he will get an excellent gratuity. Everyone's situation is different but for us, a local contract has worked out just fine.

Yes she is using you and she will continue to do so unless you put your foot down and say no. Some people have a strange attitude that if you have a driver and nannies then it's perfectly fine for them to use them also as 'it's no inconvenience to you'. I have a friend that got utterly fed up with a mother from school assuming that her driver and nannies were at her beck and call. She ended up telling her that she was sorry but she employed her staff to look after her own family and it wasn't fair on them to also be regularly taking responsibility for other people's children. As you say, she needs to sort herself out and your really are doing her no favours in the long run if you continue to do as you are. She needs to step up and learn to take responsibility for her family. Chances are she'll probably cool the friendship once she's not getting anything out of you but then at least you'll know what sort of person she is.

Hi mum23cuties and welcome! I really hope that someone can tell me I'm wrong on this but I think that if you want to get your son in to a school quickly you may have to adjust your expectations from a really good school that doesn't charge an arm and a leg to simply a school you can get a place in :( When did your son turn 6? Schools all have slightly different cut off dates but if he was 6 before August/September ish then he will be Year 2. Six after then and he will be Year One. One school that might tick your boxes but I have no idea on the waiting list is Jebel Ali Primary. Maybe give them a call. Schools often (but not always) have sibling priority so if you get your eldest in, his siblings will automatically get a place. Good luck, I hope another poster can give you more hope!

We had four in the RAK Hilton. Plus two parents. But we usually just book like we have two and play dumb if it becomes an issue. Never has. Don't stay at any Jumeirah hotels then! I was checking in to Al Qasr once and the couple in front of me had two older children and a toddler. They were being told to book another room or go elsewhere. The lady was nearly in tears and was saying they had been told (by a third party) it would be ok. The extra cost was thousands.

I guess we are going to all the wrong places A lot of the big Hiltons have interconnecting rooms You must indeed be going to the wrong places mumofmoo! I dont think you will find anywhere that lets you have 3 kids in one room as there is not enough space for extra beds etc - why not get 2 roms that join in the middle so there is a lot of space and you and DH can have your own room? Some hotels do, especially if one of the children is still in a cot. Jumeirah hotels allow three children in a room if one child is under one. Hotel rooms here are often large and there are no problems fitting in the extra. As nice as separate rooms are, a good reason why not is because it's double the cost.

If you want interconnecting rooms you normally need to call them to request. It's really frustrating as hotels won't generally guarantee interconnecting and say it depends on availability on the day. I've also got small children so always ask them to put high priority on the request. So far it's been ok, thank goodness as I'd be pretty annoyed with a night away being me and two of the children in one room and my husband and the other two children down the hall!

Firstly, don't ever give a baby juice in a bottle, it's terrible for their tooth development. I know a couple of children who's baby teeth came through black from being given juice in a bottle. Have you tried someone else giving him the bottle, your husband maybe? Or just slipping it in his mouth when he is asleep or very sleepy?

All my children have gone through phases of nappies leaking at night, it never lasts long though. If a nappy change is needed I always change before a feed, doing it after is sure to disrupt them. It doesn't matter if they scream, it only takes a few moments and they are quiet and happy once a boob/bottle is in their mouth.

I'm planning on going to Redfest with my husband. A concert is much more my idea of fun than a rubbish set menu themed dinner. Like, which one are you going to? We are going on the Friday to see John Newman! Both nights! Well, that's the plan anyway. I've got to pace myself on the Thursday night so I can still make it to the Friday. I really like the John Newman songs I've heard, hopefully he will be great live. Also going to nip over to the Jazzfest on Thursday night to see Stone Temple Pilots. Big weekend, can't wait.

Weekend sport is a great idea. My 6 year old does football with [url=http://elite-fc.ae/'>Elite FC.[/url'> They have a number of locations and definitely some at the weekend. There are lots of football clubs if you google. I know a few kids doing [url=http://spanishsoccerschool.com/home.aspx'>Spanish Soccer School[/url'> at the weekend. They are based at Sports City so handy to you, I've heard good things about them. It's also rugby season, I think the closest to you is Arabian Knights at Sports City although they may be full. You could also try the Hurricanes and Exiles, both of whom are based at the Sevens grounds (I think). [url=http://www.dugym.com/'>Du gym[/url'> also do weekend classes, definitely gymnastics and trampolining, not sure what else. There are also weekend classes for swimming and diving at the [url=http://www.hamdansc.com/complex/aboutus'>Hamdan Sports Complex[/url'> which isn't too far from you.
