One can dream…. http://www.4moms.com/origami (watch the video. oh to dream.) edited by andreasmullet on 09/12/2013 That is SO cool. Can't believe it has a dashboard. I've been very happy with my Bugaboo, it has done some serious mileage and world travel and it's still going strong.

No concerts in Dubai/Abu Dhabi provide free drinks in VIP I've been to a few that have. I dread a free bar, even if I start off with the best intentions it always ends up bringing out the student in me. Which is why I don't normally drink! First world problem :D

Hi Spiritedaway I've used a Baby Bjorn Bouncer chair with all my babies and it's been great, I just carry it around the house to whatever room I'm doing something in - normally the kitchen! I often put music on and sing and dance, babies are a very appreciative audience which is nice :) Floor time is also good for babies so to change things up I regularly move them from the bouncer to a mat on the floor to have a bit of a kick and practice rolling with some tummy time too. There is totally no need for TV at that age, your baby is far more interested in you and will learn much more watching you than they will from a TV. With the weather so lovely it's perfect for walks with the buggy too.

Yes, same as Anon, I've done loads of breast feeding in public here and it's always been fine. It's actually the ladies in abayas who I've found the most supportive. I've been told more than once that it's good for a mum to be breastfeeding and too many of the young mums nowadays don't do it. I'm always discreet as I would be in any country. edited by Daza on 06/12/2013

I don't remember what they have specifically because I haven't been for ages but Lulu in Al Barsha used to have a good fake meat range that I've never seen elsewhere here.

Pre children I would have said absolutely not, that's disgusting. Post children I say, yes it's fine and far better than sticking your finger down there and getting a nasty surprise. Have you ever read Hannibal? Considering how often my children fart, if I took them to the bathroom to check their nappy every time I smelt something I wouldn't get to eat a thing :D I once had a husband like that. Hahaha!

It can go either way at that age TDB. I took my son to a show when he was 1 (he was tagging along with my 3 year old) and it totally freaked him out. He's no shrinking violet but for some reason it really scared him. He loves shows now though.

I have only heard great things tho! *Gasps* I can't believe someone would sell their BBB, once ours hangs up it's boot it's getting put away for grandchildren. Or I might get it plated in gold and hang it on the wall :D

i love a 14 hour flight! have done sydney, san fran, new york, toronto....if you are flying emirates the entertainment is great, there's an open bar....and if you work full time, no one can hassle you or cotact you for the entire flight! my caveat is: this only applies on emirates. Just a guess kelly1814 but do you travel without children ;) ?

I find ipads and ipod minis lifesavers on long flights with little ones. Load up all their favourite games and movies. My younger children can't see the inflight entertainment screen properly so it doesn't help much.

Congratulations to your son mrsb :) I don't know what is traditional for a Muslim family but in my non Muslim family gifts were not exchanged when my and my husbands families met for the first time shortly before we got married. We all went out for a nice dinner to get to know each other. I think if the parents of my husband to be had presented gifts to my parents it would have caused embarrassment as they wouldn't have had a gift to reciprocate. Unless of course it's been discussed with both sets of parents that gifts will be given? I don't think anyone I know has had parents do gifts when they've first met although I'm from NZ, I have no idea what Austrians do. If you are going to their home then maybe some nice flowers and chocolates? To digress slightly, is a non Muslim allowed to marry a Muslim? When one of my friends married a Muslim girl he had to convert to Islam to do so. At the time I assumed it was a requirement although it may have been one from her family rather than actually ncessary.

Here's a crazy idea. Is the mum on her own? Or does she have a partner? If she's on her own, why not ask HER to come and join all of YOU for Christmas and just have one big family affair? [b'>Surely people can put aside their differences for one day and for the sake of the children[/b'>. Unfortunately FairyDust, people often can't. It doesn't make them bad people, it just makes them human. Becoming a parent doesn't make you perfect and as much as in an ideal world people should put the children first, often the issue is too emotive for people to step aside from their feelings. In my later years at home we did the exact scenario you describe above. It wasn't all smiles and laughter however, it was smiles through gritted teeth, awful tension and lots of 'isn't this lovely' fakery. As much as everyone tried their best, it was actually probably worse than splitting the time on Christmas Day.

This thread has taken me back thirty years to the knot in my stomach that accompanied every Christmas with divorced parents :( No batgirls, it's not fair if your step daughter can't spend some of Christmas with you if you are in the UK. It's also not fair if her mother spends some of Christmas alone because she is with you. Neither way is fair and your step daughter is probably just saying she doesn't mind either way as she doesn't want to offend anyone. Christmas can be such a minefield. I don't think there is 'right' thing to do but I do you hope you can work something out that keeps everyone sort of happy.

I have heard of expo before and am looking forward to the possibility of a Dubai winning this bid. Yes, Dubai is already a great city and well known, and this brings the opportunity to promote expo a swell as enhancing what a Dubai already has to offer. I hope that it does increase rents and property prices, many landlords and business owners have been waiting a long time to be able to make the kinds of money that Dubai is famous for. It will also squeeze a lot of the mid-class residents out, which has become a too large sector. Winning this bid will give a dubai the opportunity to redeem itself after the bad fall a few years ago. If a lot of the mid-class residents are squeezed out then who will rent the large number of 2-5 bed townhouses and villas around? The 'top' level aren't going to want to slum it in anything less than a mansion and the 'low' level can't afford to pay anywhere near the rents needed if a landlord has a mortgage to pay. Sarahlou, I've been to Izmir too, a couple of times. Maybe we met over a shisha pipe :)

If all your accounts are joint and family money then yes, I think either of you should ask before lending (or giving) money to anyone. However, if you have separate accounts to spend as you please and all joint spending/saving responsibilites are being met then I don't think you have any say what each other spends your own money on. If your husband is choosing to give his money to his brother then that means he has less money to spend on something for himself, surely that is his choice? Does your husband ever disapprove of what you spend your money on? How do/would you react if he did? Do you dislike your BIL and if so, is this part of the problem? In all honesty, I think there are worse things you can spend your money on than helping family out.

Hi 3sacharm I agree with Meagle, if you shop around you will be able to find carseats that fit. It will work out a lot cheaper than a new car. Also, just in case you aren't aware, it's illegal for a child under the age of 10 to travel in the front seat regardless of whether the airbag is on or off.

Ok if she's wearing low cut tops, or tight fitting things and you have a good relationship I would say something along the lines of " Oh wow the girls/boobs/knockers/ are looking good tonight" or whatever you use to describe them. Just compliment her! She went through hours of surgery, saying something nice will always be good. That's what I was thinking Ilovechoos. If they are covered up I'd never say anything but if they are arranged for display then I always wonder if a compliment is in order. In much the same way if someone swapped their Yaris for an Ferrari and did a slow drive through of the school carpark I'd assume they wanted their new car admired.

A bit of a first world problem I know but........I never know quite know how to play it when an acquaintance has obviously had a boob job. A 'see most days at school, occasional play date and class night out' kind of friend rather than a go out and have a chat kind of friend. They've obviously spent a lot of effort and money in getting their new boobs so should you compliment them? Or is it rude to comment on someone's rack if they aren't a good friend regardless of how much money and effort they've spent? Thoughts?

Do we not all remember the hailstorms here 4 years ago... Coming from UK and Europe this is nothing :-) I do! Damaged cars left right and center. This rain is nothing by UK standards but conversely they don't cope very well when it's hot. At a measly 40 C, tubes are unbearable, train tracks buckle and the parks are filled with people in nothing more than their pants. Whereas I've seen people here wearing scarves when it's 40 degrees :D
