I've been going to Juan for ages and always been really happy but the last time I went my colour got totally messed up. I didn't have time to go back to JLT so I went to Ted Morgan, Polly did a great job of fixing it there, I was very happy with it.

Shamrock, if you do decide not to take her, I obviously don't know the age of your children but I've always found Wild Wadi pretty easy with little ones. Aquaventure is a bit trickier although that may just because I'm less familiar with it.

Caregivers do quite often get discounts in the UK too but usually for accompanying registered disabled . Same in NZ but if you tried to take along your au pair or cleaner and get a discount you'd get laughed at.

I'm curious which country the OP is from too. Shamrock, if you are going to Wild Wadi there are plenty of in the water things non swimmers can do. They also have life jackets and there are a LOT of lifeguards.

Two days ago she dropped by for tea and literally pulls my DD’s little thumb out from her mouth seeing her sucking it. I wish I should have shouted but I did SNI yet again due to the fear of offending this otherwise really helpful lady. In fact she took care of me for 3 weeks when I fell really sick during my pregnancy. It's lovely that she was such a help to you but that doesn't mean she can tell you how to raise your child. Unwanted advice is one thing but I'd be really cross if someone removed my baby's thumb from his mouth - he loves his thumb and who are they to decide he isn't allowed to comfort himself. If she does it again I'd ask her to please not do it again and say you are happy with her sucking her thumb. You don't need to justify it or offer excuses.

Divine retribution however - when they have kids, let's see how they cope when the babies have colic, won't sleep, vomit through 20 sleepsuits, look like cr@p and can't speak on the phone. I will be sat there with my school age children smiling broadly. I bet you don't TDB. You'll remember how hard it is having a new baby and give them a (puke free) shoulder to cry on. Although possibly gleefully thinking 'I told you so' ;)

In previous years we've had the bulk of the trick or treaters from just after dark for about an hour. A few of the younger ones might come a bit earlier, from around 5pm. They've stopped coming when we run out of treats and turn the porch light out.

Good to know I'm not alone. But in my case if these people where my in laws my very supportive DH would have zipped their mouth but unfortunately they are my own beloved relatives who are put up right here near me in Dubai. Smile, nod and ignore is what I do over the phone, when they come over, at parties .... I'm sick and tired .For how long will this continue ???? edited by mssassy on 29/10/2013 If they are relatives that you see regularly I think you probably need to do more than the smile and ignore. Sit them down and talk to them. Tell them you appreciate they are trying to help but you are trying to find your own way of doing things and they are upsetting you with their constant comments. If they are unable to stop doing it, limit how much you see them as much as possible. Maybe your husband can nicely point out that new parents need to be supported, not bullied.

Totally agree with starsouthern, that's exactly what I do. Smile, nod then the vast majority of the time ignore the advice. You might find the odd useful nugget amongst all the chaff though so don't tune out entirely. Mrs DB, your MIL sounds like an utter nightmare. Getting down the business end uninvited when you gave birth and saying she wanted YOUR daughter to call HER mum. Holy smokes, that takes the biscuit. Gobsmacked. Have fun telling her you are staying here for second bubs ;)

Hi DCC Sorry to hear you are having a rough time. Halloween in Arabian Ranches is always great, loads of trick or treaters out and lots of decorations up. Saheel was teeming last year and I've heard Al Mahra is also great. The Golf Club is having a free Halloween thing for children, not sure of timings though. In saying that, my children have all been terrified of Halloween when they have been toddlers, all those masks and shrieks weren't their idea of fun at all. Maybe your son is made of sterner stuff but do bear it in mind :)

I actually couldn't care less either - I'm merely wondering how and if they will try and get around it. I could well be wrong but I thought the actual date of Al Hijra was still going the be the 4th (probably) or the 5th (maybe) but it's just the day off work/school that has moved to co-incide with the weekend? So Sunday during the day won't be dry although it might be from 6pm? Anyway, regardless of what any of us think of it, if the rugby can be exempted on the grounds that it is a major sporting event then someone with a lot more clout than us does think it is an issue (more than likely financial).

Does it have to be a movie? The series 24 is edge of your seat gripping thriller. Plus there is eight series of 24 episodes, that's a lot of hours of excellent viewing.

My friends Niece moved here a few weeks ago and she is 22 She was carded at Saffron, DD and Bidi Bondi's. My friend who is 34 and [b'>married[/b'> was carded at Sandance. Both of these ladies are Western so do not assume they wont card a bunch of teenagers. Sarahlou! Does being married make you look older???!!!!! Actually maybe it does ;) OP, I'd let him go with very strict rules in place. Dropping off and picking up directly afterwards would be an absolute must. I'd also let the restaurant know the age of their diners and warn them not to serve them.

Congratulations MrsDB :) I had my first baby in a London NHS hospital 7 years ago. I've had three babies here since. I much much much preferred my experience here. I was able to have the births I wanted here, I didn't in the UK. It might depend what you like though, I'm all about the drugs and intervention so Dubai suits me fine. If I had to have another baby in the UK I would go private. I mean no disrespect to the NHS, it's an amazing institution but obviously the cost of everything is paramount and they are incredibly over burdened. The prospect of labouring in the corridor because all the rooms are busy and having to wait 12 hours for an epidural isn't ideal though. Like TDB I also couldn't face not being in my own home with a newborn. Good luck with your decision.

As Meagle said, the measurements often aren't accurate at your stage. Are you sure of your conception date? I'm always about a week further along than by normal dates as I ovulate early. I would't get induced at 38 weeks without a second opinion or if it was for an absolute reason. I know a couple of ladies here who have been induced due to a 'big' baby who turned out to be not so big.

Hi Silk I think it's worth making the effort to go out and do things just the two of you. It's not just about keeping your marriage together, it's about keeping your family unit together. As you say your husband is a great Dad then this is something worth fighting for. What did you used to enjoy doing together? If you simply wait for things to pick up like they have before then you may find yourself in tinot's position and realise too late that you do still want your marriage to work. You say you'd love to be alone with your children but have you thought about the actual reality of this? Assests halved, income reduced, the financial implications of divorce are huge. Plus you wouldn't be 'alone' with them, he'd still be their father. Joint custody, waving your children off for nights, weekends or holidays with him. And probably eventually another women who might become their stepmother. Hard on you and from personal experience I can tell you it's hard on children too. If you've given it your best shot and tried everything then you might eventually have to split but at the moment it sounds like you just can't be bothered making the effort. I honestly think a marriage with children is really something worth making the effort for :)

How do you know when you've fallen out of love with someone? I couldn't put it in to words. It's just a feeling. Or a lack of feeling really. The best I could do is to say that they don't make your heart feel warm anymore.

Hi saggi A wet wipe warmer! Seriously? I've never heard of such a thing. I'd say it's totally unnecessary, my babies bums have survived just fine with room temperature wiping. It's not like we live in an igloo. I actually don't use wipes, I don't think they are good for delicate skin and are a total waste of money. I use cotton pads just with water or with a bit of coconut oil for a pooey bum. A diaper genie is a waste of money too, just use bags tied tightly. Much cheaper and less hassle. I would say get a good nursing chair. I never did and with each baby I wondered why on earth not. Then never got round to it. Can't advise on a good one sorry.

It's funny, I was talking to my step-mother about this exact thing a few days ago. She was telling me how her parents, who were married until her mother's death when they were both in their 80's, went through many highs and lows but things always came together for them. After her father's death she found a drawer of love letter from her mother to him and in one of them (written when they were in their 70's) she was describing how it felt to fall back in love with him again after not feeling that way for a long time. I think the vast majority of relationships have peaks and troughs, I know my marriage does. I also think you really have to work at things and sometimes your marriage goes on the back burner but you have to prioritise it at some point. Have you talked to your husband about how you are feeling? How old are your children? Do you ever go out together just as a couple and have fun?

Thank heavens for Thursdays. As fellow Expat Women (whether some people like to think that way, it's true and we're all they same) what do we think happens that "maids" are the only Expat Women who become "too lazy" and "left to their own devises don't do their job properly"? Very true. I don't have a boss but I'm lazy and skive off all the time. Yesterday I probably should have been doing something constructive with my children but they wouldn't stop bickering so I shut myself in a quiet room with a cup of coffee and played Candy Crush :D

Unfortunately maids, if left to their own devices dont do their job properly. It's not just some maids who are guilty of skiving off if the boss isn't around. I bet there are a few regular EW posters who are guilty of it also....

Thank you very much for your feedback. My child is offered a place at Reception and she is only 4 years old. I am wondering if she better join the Fs1 ?? Or go to Fs2 ?? FS aged 4 sounds like the correct year group for your child. When is her birthday? Unless there is a compelling reason not to, most schools keep children within their correct year group.

Whilst your number one priority obviously has to be protect your daughter and your family from any fall out, I think stopping your daughter seeing her should be a last resort, if her parents response makes continuing the friendship impossible. If she has been abused then she has been let down in the worst possible way, the last thing she needs is to be let down by anyone else. To do so would only reinforce to her that it is in someway her fault and there is something wrong with her. It could very well irrevocably break an already damaged child. When I was in my early teens one of my friends confided that she had been getting abused by a close family member. With the support of her friends she found the confidence to tell her mother and the abuser was unmasked. When she screamed and cried we were there to tell her it wasn't her fault and he was the monster, not her. She's a very strong woman and I think she would have gotten through it no matter what but it helped her that when she fell, she had friends to catch her. Imagine if our mothers had banned us from seeing her? How might it have ended up? She's now a lawyer specialising in child advocacy :) Good luck aroha and well done for looking out for this child.

I did write 'impressed' not 'shocked'! Don't you understand the word 'impressed'? It's interesting that something positive turned into something horrible. Some people just like to complain all the time and a forum is the best platform for that. I'm sure no fight was intended. I think it came across as "nnnnawwww... Look at these cutey wittle 50 year olds... Too cute! They come along, all dressed up like they 'belong here', oh bless their cotton socks!" :) No fighting, ladies! There are maid threads for that kind of behaviour! :D Yes, I didn't intend for a fight but it did come across a bit patronising. I'm just not sure what is impressive about over 50s going to a pop concert? It seems pretty normal to me. What are you meant to do at that age, stick to quiet nights in or going to the opera? I know that every younger generation erroneously believes that they have the monopoly on having fun but there certainly isn't an age limit on having a good time. I'm in my 30s not my 50s but I have just as much fun at concerts as I did in my teens and 20s. Sometimes even more so as I'm no longer putting up with long general admission queues and there is often a free bar :D My husband is a lot closer to 50 than me and he still has a great time.

I wouldn't pay it. If she wants to have expensive unnecessary injections that that is up to her but it should come out of her pocket. To be honest, if my maid insisted on running to the hospital for a jab and expecting me to pay for it every time she had a cold I'd be looking for someone new. As for the 'cultural difference' would she be getting it if she had to pay herself? I very much doubt it.
