If someone took a photo of your child in that state do you not think you need to take personal responsibility for putting your child in a position that he could have a photo taken? I sometimes change my young children out of their wet swimmers on the beach. If someone started taking their photo when they were partially dressed I'd be furious and demand they delete the photos. Depending on the situation I'd also possibly call the police. There really is no excuse for taking a photo of a child that isn't your own with it's pants down.

Daza - was just wondering the same thing. Was going to start another thread.... Do you have thoughts about her hair? I like her hair ;) She was definitely making a statement. I didn't realise that foreign women don't have to cover in Saudi if they don't want to, I thought it was compulsory. I loved the recent story about Queen Elizabeth and King Abdullah.

Nice video Axelle, I only posted the potty thread to liven things up a bit on here, cos there's only so many news items we can talk about, pee being one of them ;) I'm not a judgy pants really [img'>http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/057/6/0/Wag_Finger_by_Mirz123.gif[/img'> and I'm not easily disgusted when it comes to kids bodily functions. I come from a big family and have seen much worse than a potty outside a shop. Do you reckon we are allowed to discuss Michelle Obama's hair?

Hi Artemis I get it from either Geant at Arabian Ranches or Spinneys at Motor City. Stock is of course sporadic so I tend to stock up and store it in sealed plastic bags as it's in cardboard boxes and absorbs moisture. It comes in just under 500g boxes.

Awww, that is really funny, then really sweet. Whilst of course we all want what is best for our children we do also need to consider that they are not the only people in this world and that their (or our) actions impact on others. I'm not going to judge and tut but I might just point someone to a nearby bathroom if they decide that the middle of a mall is a good place for a potty stop :)

Stix has written an excellent post and great advice, and that is where the buck stops really. The individual child and what works for that child. Completely agree. The first part of your post has gone but fair point, I've been on EW for nearly nine years and I'm still utterly [i'>hopeless[/i'> at identifying agendas. I'm not backing myself to wising up any time soon

A reasonable question and I shouldn't have posted post early morning run! I think it's because so far on various threads "Repton parents" have posted a number of factual untruths in a blizzard of comments. It goes on...and on, each carefully qualified with "I have heard". Some have been removed by the moderators. I think it's just a shame that what should be a resource for prospective parents has been polluted. I agree that opinions are fine, and people have them and should be free to express them. But when it crosses into simple factual untruths I think that's a bit naughty. I shouldn't have reacted  Thanks for the reply lovingthesun :) It would be a shame if people are making things up to try to discredit other schools. There is a lot good about Repton so much more positive to highlight that rather than engaging in mud slinging. I've been at Repton for six years and have three children there. In my experience the vast majority of parents are nice people (honest!) and the vast majority of teachers are excellent and passionate about what they do. My children are happy and they are doing well. I have a few complaints, mainly to do with the size of the school and some decisions that are made but on the whole I'm happy and have no intention of moving.

Can I ask though - why is there such animosity between Reption and NAS parents - very odd again? I feel new NAS parents are trying to justify their move to the school but do not understand why they need to do so if they feel they made the correct decision? Also its like its a fight to be right? Did this happen with the moves when Kings and Repton opened too Ladies? Did parents that moved do the same almost in defense mode (sorry do not mean to offend anyone with this - just an observation)? I'm a Repton parent with friends who have moved to NAS from Repton and other schools and the only animosity I have ever seen or heard about between parents is on EW. My friends that have made the move are happy with their decision and I'm happy for them. None of us have ever felt the need to be 'right'. Certainly none of them have ever been defensive about the move, why should they? From my experience, any impressions you have gotten from EW are from a tiny minority of parents (who are completely entitled to their opinion), it's not indicative of any overall bad feeling between the schools.

Pixxydixxy, just to add, we all have different levels of what is acceptable plus intent and tone don't always convey well on here. I've posted replies which I haven't meant to be offensive at all and genuinely thought I was being helpful and had someone take offence. I've also gotten on my high horse about postings only for it to transpire that I totally misinterpreted what had been said/meant.

It's funny, I was just thinking the other day how much nicer it is on here now compared to a few months ago. Whilst I am never a fan of out and out nastiness and picking on people, the debates on here are what keeps things interesting and keeps people logging in and posting. I know I wouldn't bother looking in just to answer people's questions on where to find hot sauce and the best place to shop.

I plait mine a lot which keeps it out of my face in the wind and when it's sandy it stops it getting it through my hair so much. I normally do a side plait but occasionally a back plait if I'm feeling dexterous.

I wondered when (and was hoping you would) weigh in! Live exports are banned? Someone told me that all meat sold here had to be shipped and slaughtered here. It didn't seem possible to me, but only recently have I started looking into the options. We always get NZ beef, love it. Waitrose has grass fed options as well as "free range." Cattle and sheep aren't live exported for slaughter although they can be for breeding purposes but with strict rules in place. It was stopped after a horror trip for some sheep (maybe to the ME?) in the early 2000s. Allowing live exports is always up for debate in NZ but there is fierce opposition to it. It's a horrible practice :( Glad you like NZ beef, I always think it looks the best! edited by Daza on 22/01/2015

Hi Izzy If you are looking for reasonable priced would you compromise on organic? The NZ meat industry has good controls and regulations and high levels of animal welfare. Predominantly grass fed and (very importantly) live animal exports are banned. I'm obviously a bit biased but if not wanting to pay organic prices here I'd go for NZ meat. I always feel a bit like I've been robbed after a big organic meat shop.

where do you buy large packs of baking soda? I've been looking to do this for a while but have only ever seen the small fancy tins of baking soda in the baking stuff aisle, which I don't think would go very far. I buy the Arm and Hammer boxes, they are 450g. They are the ones for putting in your fridge to deodorise it so they can sometimes be in the cleaning, rather than baking aisle at the supermarket. They are pure baking soda but not recommended for baking as slightly more grainy.

Please can you help me out with what I can eat on a vegetarian menu which does not contain fish sauce, shrimp sauce, oyster sauce, fish stock etc etc I always order thai veg green curry or something like that and even though you ask for it not to contain the above it invariably does! I don't know what else is nice but also fish-free! Thanks I don't order thai curries as the paste they use is normally made in large batches and contains shrimp paste. If you've got a food processor it's really easy to make your own thai curry paste at home without shrimp, let me know if you'd like the recipe.

Bird is right... if you're talking about Thai food, EVERYTHING contains fish sauce, oyster sauce or both.. even their eggs! If they make it without (or omit it when asked), then it's not a real Thai restaurant or real Thai food. Sorry, I'm a Thai food fanatic/purist and don't like mixing or mellowing the cusine. Eating strict vegetarian all or some of the time due to religious reasons is not uncommon in Thailand. Hence fish and oyster sauce isn't always used.

Oh yeah I'm not sure my allotment is supposed to include cleaning stuff. I forgot about that. But the hoh is going to pay for that.p, and the brands I prefer because I've found some clean better than others and I'm not going to go the cheapo route and have the place dirty/filmy. All of our cleaning is done with baking soda and vinegar. It works well and is cheap.

Hi Cherpie I spend around 2500 a week on food/household items for our family of six. I do most of our cooking, baking, packed lunches etc but we do normally eat out for a couple of meals at the weekend. Our budget is probably on the high side due to generally buying organic/ethically produced.

Hi mumonboard It totally depends on your cycle when you can get pregnant. I tend to ovulate early in my cycle and know for certain that one of my children was conceived after *** on day nine of my cycle because I travelled abroad on my own the following day. Even if you do ovulate later in your cycle sperm can survive a number of days so you could still conceive. With regards to maternity packages, a lot of hospitals have all the information on their websites so Google any hospitals you are looking at and you should be able to find the information. edited by Daza on 16/01/2015

Hi Bingo I've also found Stellatopia to be brilliant for my children's eczema. We use the one for extremely dry atopic skin, it's been a miracle worker. Just to add, there is of course a genetic component to eczema but a baby certainly can't 'catch it' from breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should in fact help with the eczema although the mum should watch what she is eating and eliminate any foods that seem to cause a reaction. Dairy is often a culprit.

This is forum and thus I am respectful of all views given, but I don't share your views. I think all people (male and female) have a responsibility greater than their family. It is this collective responsibility (usually found through work - contributing to the economy, government decisions) that makes life better for all. Not just your family. I have gone off on a tangent here - and will bow out. But although it may be an unpopular view, sometimes the world is bigger than your family. edited by Cap1tal on 13/01/2015 So you are working due to a sense of altruism rather than for financial gain for your family? From your posts it seems you don't see, or value, the contribution stay at home parents make to society. That's a shame, look bigger picture, it's all intertwined. And to answer your previous post, my husband doesn't stay home because he doesn't want to, he'd go mad

As long as she has taken or you are fully paid up for flights, holidays and salary then your only obligation at the end of her contract is to provide her with a one way ticket to her home country. Maids are not covered by labour laws so no notice period is required. Your legal obligations are very few, only you are in a position to judge your moral obligations above and beyond that. I personally would go with whatever would leave my conscience clear, if her conduct meant nothing extra then so be it. Otherwise I would tend on the side of generosity :)

As you say VD the Organic route is not policed as it should be and in a lot of cases they get away with charging exorbitant prices for products that could be just as toxic as chemically treated crops. Absolutely it's not always policed as it should be and the term 'organic' has been hugely diluted over the years. It's a shame as whilst it is often used as a marketing term for people jumping on the band wagon, there are people who have been following the principles of organic farming long before it was trendy and there are many people who still follow them properly. There are many differences between conventional and true organic farming and it's not just about the type of pesticides used, it's about the way in which land is used, less intensive cropping, companion planting, a whole host of things. Nomad, I LOVE that you've put in beehives!

It's probably worth mentioning that just like "organic", "[b'>superfoods" is another made-up marketing term[/b'>. It has absolutely no meaning in proper nutritional science. But it sells books, diet plans and blueberries :) Indeed, it's just an easy way of explaining the type of foods I eat a lot of :)

:) Agreed, chocolate and exercise for all! Daza, there is no doubt you feel great as your disposition on this forum is always sunny. I am not anti-vegan by any means, and I like the idea. It just doesn't suit me. I don't believe that being vegan is unhealthy, either, it works great for some people. I still do my daily kiwis and apples, and other "good" stuff, but I also eat what I like which happens to be stuff some people frown upon. I really appreciate that you never speak from a stance of superiority and are not preachy about food. We are not defined by our diets. I'm glad you don't find me preachy about food, I do sometimes wonder if I'm a bit over enthusiastic about a delicious salad ;) I'm not anti-meat at all (I'm cooking some lovely smelling chicken now in fact) although I do whole-heartedly believe in supporting responsible farming methods of animals. Human bodies were designed to be omnivorous, meat just isn't for me.

The sickest I have ever been was when I was vegan, eating "clean" (somebody, please define that, anyway?) plus superfoods and the like. Now, I eat what I like which happens to be a lot of whole foods as well as a lot of white bread, milk, butter, chocolate and beer. I have the most balanced hormone panel of my life, blood pressure and cholesterol great, I have never felt better, and I largely attribute that a high activity level and moderation of all foods, the "good" and the "bad." Beebers, we've cracked it, the elusive elixir of good health! I'm vegan, avoid processed food, eat loads of superfoods and I feel great. I don't eat white bread, milk, butter or beer but I DO eat plenty of chocolate and I exercise a lot. So there you go, whatever else you do load up on the chocolate and exercise and you'll feel great :)

To be totally honest, save your money and don't bother with any 'educational' DVDs or books at 2 months. All your baby really needs at that age is to hear your voice and feel your touch. Read whatever you enjoy to them, books, newspapers, EW, anything. Sing what you like, to the radio, nursery rhymes you remember (or Google the lyrics), CDs etc. I sung Eminem and the like to my children, they loved it. They also loved watching me dance, I'd put on some Euphoria CDs and go for it, they would flail along with me, great for the baby weight too  As your little one gets older check out secondhand book sales for baby books, feline friends do one and often have a good selection of books. Dr Suess books are a favourite of mine. As for DVDs, if you are using them to give yourself a break, great, In the Night Garden is very engaging for little ones but if you are speaking purely in terms of educational, read, read and read some more. Explore the world together, touch things and talk about what you see and the shapes they are, the numbers they come in etc.
