Ok, so season 2 starts on OSN on the 1st of October.... BUT, I missed season 1! I have tried to download online but it is not available yet... no box set on the shelf yet either! I have programmed the machine to record... will have to save season 2 until I can get my hands on the first series!

if you do go down the assessment route check with the school that you are doing the right tests before you start. I don't necessarily think the schools are in a position to give the best advice. Prior to our DS's assessment, Christa had my hubby and I in for a lengthy interview. Based on our responses/experience with DS, she was then in a position to better carry out the assessment. It took place over 3 days, each session was 2 hours. I think that the psychometric tests that they use nowdays don't specifically rely on a suspicion of what 'we' think might be wrong. Again, to go back to my own experience, DS had been receiving remedial help for 3 years... school said he is definitely not dyslexic (based on some tests they had done) but final outcome is 'text book case'. When DS was 6, an occupational therapist called me to say that he did not have right or left hand domination... he still favors left hand for some things! Your son is 6... so, what I am saying is, look out for your own signs at home.

Before booking an appointment with anyone, make sure that the assessor is registered with the KHDA, otherwise the report will not be valid! We moved to DXB about 4 years ago. My son was put in his age appropriate year and missed a massive chunk of foundation knowledge. We put his struggles down to the work that he had missed but eventually I decided to have him assessed by an Educational Psycologist. He had been receiving some remedial help at school and the teacher there said that he definitely is not dyslexic. Anyway, turns out he is a text book case! The problem has been compounded by him missing out on a year at school (my opinion)... at home he was in year 4. When we moved here they put him in year 6. We took him to Christa Strauss, in Knowledge Village. Rely on your "mothers' intuition"... it is rarely wrong!

I don't know Joseph, but I just had curtains made for our villa by a company called Al Rohn Al Hadee Furniture. I dealt with Saju... The shop is on the main road in Satwa, close to the Post Office. Whilst I went to the shop, they will also come to your home with a wide selection of samples. Saju was prompt and professional... I picked out the fabric in the shop and he came to my home to measure. The curtains were ready in a week and his team came to install them! I am so pleased with the job... Saju's number is 0508476003.

I just had some wallpaper put up with paste that was bought at Dragonmart. I did not do it myself, I paid AED100 for a chap from DM to do it for me. I just had to collect him from there and drop him back afterwards. He did a super job and the paste looks just fine to me.. smooth, even finish with no bubbles!

I must add that all costs at Nicolas and Asp in Healthcare City have been explained very well, (DS's having orthodontic treatment). Everything has been in writing and I had to sign off on the quotes.

Before committing, have a look at the houses in Jumeirah Park. It is a new area next to Ibn Battuta, actually closer to Jumeirah Islands! I had a look at one today... STUNNING! They go live next week!

you should really have a look at FREEDOM store in mirdif city center. It's an australian brand I believe and they have nice good quality stuff for ok prices. I just had a gorgeous leather lounge suite delivered from there today! A bit pricey, but we negotiated a 25% discount... and since it is leather, it will only get better with age. If you visit there on the weekend, as you walk into the store, there is a display piece on the left. DH is fast asleep on the 3 seater, as we speak! <em>edited by Deeva on 05/07/2012</em>

Waterfront for sure... I am biased as I used to work for Sun International, so The Table Bay Hotel. Alternatively, The One and Only, although the location is not as convenient as TBH, ie. direct access to the Mall. Have fun!

http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/creme-brulee-recipe/index.html I always thought that Creme Brulee was difficult to make, but it's actually dead easy! If you don't have a torch to do the top, you can just pop them under the grill to caramelize the sugar.

Darhling.... just get in the car and drive (everyone else does)! You will miss a few off-ramps (I still do). Just don't try and stop and reverse like so many *ssh*les I still see every day. Once you start, you won't look back! (no pun intended!)

I used Noor about a week ago after seeing his recommendation on this forum. I was initially impressed with our contact. After calling him and requesting his service, he asked me to send an sms to confirm. I did and he acknowledged receipt and confirmed the arrangements with a telephone call. However, on the day, he did not arrive! When I called him, he seemed a bit confused about who I was. He said that he would send someone to me in an hour. Needless to say, an hour later - NOTHING! I tried to call him several times but he kept cutting my call. Eventually, one of his associates called me and the second hand items that I had purchased, were collected and delivered.

Sadly, I have encountered many situations in the ME where you are defined by what you do. Many a time I have been in a social situation where as soon as someone finds out that you are a 'housewife', the light switches off and they start to scour the room for a more interesting audience. What many don't realize is how many spouses, especially woman, have given up careers in order to support their other halves. Just because we don't work, does not mean that we lack intelligence.

Cedar Lakes is a beautiful gated community close to Dainfern... you will still have to contend with the traffic on William Nicol Road in either area. Alternatively, if your budget permits, try Bryanston, which is closer to the Sandton CBD. Bryanston Primary and Bryanston High schools always used to have good reputations (government schools). Alternatively, a private one is St Stithians.

It's a no -no... the doctor needs to see the color of the nail beds to assess if there are any blood flow problems during and after delivery.
