Hi ladies.... A couple of days ago, I found a lump in my breast. I also have a sort of painful dull burning sensation. I called City Hospital to schedule a mammogram. I have heard good things about Dr Alex, but she is full until October. Instead, I am scheduled to see Dr Gelep on the 27th of April. The hospital advised that I should go and see a gynae first for a referral as they will not do a mammogram without one. Can anyone recommend someone please? I am feeling quite anxious about the whole thing. Many thanks!

Thanks for the feedback. Yadig is very useful.... Did not know this website. Interesting to note how many men have written about their wives' experiences. Maybe I should just stick to my regular hairdresser. The Keratin thing sounds interesting though!

We are delighted with the service! We initially went to Nicholas and Asp on Beach Rd and saw a 'regular' orthodontist. I forget her name... Anyway, the quote was AED24500/child and I have 2 that needed braces. (could buy a small car for that price). We went to the College and were assigned to Dr Pratik. The 'doctors' are all dentists, training to be orthodontists. They are under the supervision of a professor. During the first consult, they took x-rays, impressions, etc which they then use as a case study during classroom theory and decide on the necessary course of action, which is explained to you next time you visit. Up until then, you will not yet have had to pay anything. At that point, you can decide if you wish to progress with the recommended plan. We are paying AED8500/child. I think that 18 - 24 months is about the standard time that it takes for orthodontic correction. Eldest has had the braces now for about 12 months and youngest for about 6 (had to wear a headgear at night for about 3 months to create space - NB: they did not wish to pull teeth out to create space). We go every 4 to 6 weeks for follow up consultations and they are always prompt and on time. Based on our experience, I highly recommend Drs N&A.

My husband bought us both Omega watches a couple of years ago. I think he got them from Ravoli. There was not much difference between the price they charged and Duty Free, but was certainly cheaper than buying them at home. He bought them during the Shopping Festival (Feb) and did manage to negotiate a discount and I suggest that you do the same... shop around a bit, ask a couple of dealers if they will give you a better price and take it from there.

Hi Noddy, I haven't been but I have just been on the website this morning to see what they have available in August. I would like to do the British Isles cruise or the Russia/Scandinavia one. I have popped an e-mail off tp Emirates Holidays to find out if they hold an allocation so that I can compare prices. (I think that Alpha Tours is the UAE appointed agent for Caribbean but they would still need to book flights via one of the carriers.) A friend of mine went on a 2 week med cruise in 2011 and she said that it was the best experience ever... if that helps!

"The Book of Fate" by Parinoush Saniee.... Beautifully written. It had me in tears! Book Description Publication Date: 18 April 2013 A teenager in pre-revolutionary Tehran, Massoumeh is an ordinary girl, passionate about learning. On her way to school she meets a local man and falls in love - but when her family discover his letters they accuse her of bringing them into dishonour. She is badly beaten by her brother, and her parents hastily arrange a marriage to a man she's never met. Facing a life without love, and the prospect of no education, Massoumeh is distraught - but a female neighbour urges her to comply: 'We each have a destiny, and you can't fight yours.' The years that follow Massoumeh's wedding prove transformative for Iran. Hamid, Massoumeh's husband, is a political dissident and a threat to the Shah's oppressive regime and when the secret service arrive to arrest him, it is the start of a terrifying period for Massoumeh. Her fate, so long dictated by family loyalty and tradition, is now tied to the changing fortunes of her country. Spanning five turbulent decades of Iranian history, from before the 1979 revolution, through the Islamic Republic and up to the present, The Book of Fate is a powerful story of friendship and passion, fear and hope - and a rare insider's view of Iranian society.

She is an educational consultant who does an assessment and is able to provide an intensive program to close the gaps before the child goes to a psychologist. Why would you want to 'close any gaps'? Surely this will impair the results of an EP's assessment that might leave you with a misdiagnosis? We used Christa Strauss. The cost was K5, not covered by medical insurance. Whoever you decide to go with, make sure that they are registered properly with the KHDA so that the report is regognised and any 'recommendations' (use of computer/reader/scribe/extra time in tests) can be implemented.

Christa Strauss is an Educational Phsycologist. She works out of Knowledge Village. Her mobile number is 0504549096. Please reach out to her (or any other professional) in order to establish the appropriate age to test for dyslexia. From a very young age (5 - 6 years) out son used to mix up his B's and D's. He also used to make up the end of the sentance when he was reading (instead of reading what was written on the page). We were told not to worry as he did not (still doesn't) have left or right dominance, ie. he is ambidextrious {spelling?}. Anyway, to cut a long story short, he is dyslexic. We have only had a proper diagnosis for a year (he is 16 now). I wish that I had not followed the advice of his teachers and OP's and had him tested properly years ago.

A few years ago, I was working full time, with an intense travel schedule and was in the same boat as the OP. I did not want to go the full time maid and school bus route as I wanted someone to be able to properly supervise homework and not have the angst of the boys having to take the bus (they were a lot younger then). So, through Dubizzle, I placed an ad that I was looking for someone who would be able to assist Sunday through to Thursdays from 15h00 to 18h00 (Thursdays pick up was at 13h00). Person would have to have own car, be able to do the after school run (allow for any after school activities, dentist appointments, etc) and ensure that homework was done and that the boys were bathed and in pj's by 18h00. Most days, I would be able to make it home by about 18h30 so every now and again they were alone at home for half an hour. (The eldest was 11 at that time). We kissed a few frogs but ultimately ended up finding a lovely American girl, who was in her early twenties. Her husband was a chef, so she was under his sponsorship and they had not yet started a family. The one small glitch we had at the start was that she wanted a Labour Card. I did try to get one for her but since she was a USA citizen, I was informed that she was not allowed to be employed as a nanny/au pair which is what her JD actually amounted to (was told that only specific nationalities can be employed in this capacity in DXB). So, she ended up agreeing to assist without a labour card. We paid her AED5000/month. Boys loved her and it was great to have the peace of mind that they were in such good hands. (no doubt there may be some comments about this arrangement not being legal, but we were caught between a rock and a hard place and there is a MASSIVE gap in the market when it comes to after school care). <em>edited by Deeva on 22/04/2013</em>

hello i'm trying to cut meat off my menu, soon chicken too..... what can i prepare for dinner, i havent got many ideas except for pasta, but if i only eat that, i'll be a whale soon..... HELP Do you know your blood group type? it might help with the elimination process. I am A+ and supposed to lean more towards veggie options as opposed to meat. I eat a bit of chicken and fish and rarely have red meat... If I grill steaks at home, I never do one for me! There is a book, "Eat Right for Your Type" which may be of assistance, available at most good book shops. Hubby is O+ and they are meat eaters... amazing what your blood group might have you leaning towards.I am not suggesting that you cannot change your ways, merely that there is a science behind it.

Emirates fly direct. You should also check out SAA as they code share with Emirates and can sometimes be cheaper. Book early, before they start yielding! Whilst KNP is a malaria area, May through to October is not a high risk malaria time. Alternatively, if you wish to go through JHB en route to Cape Town, consider visiting the Sun City Resort. It is 2 hours outside JHB, has 4 hotels, 2 golf courses (++) and it is adjacent to the Pilanesburg National Park which is malaria free and boasts the big 5. Pilanesburg Safaris are based on the resort and do daily excursions into the park. Good luck and have fun!

Misabela, it all depends on the terms and conditions of your contract. Did you include an early termination clause? If not, then I am afraid that the Landlord is entitled to his rent for the full 12 month period.

I'm afraid I can't help with your questions but does it need to be removed? I had one on my wrist as a teenager and every doctor I spoke to said to leave it and it would disappear at some point. It was there for years but one day I realised it wasn't there any more and it never came back. I also had one on my wrist that disappeared! BMOF: I can recommend Dr Mathias. He is a General Surgeon at Welcare in Knowledge village.

Thanks for sharing ladies. Deeva, sorry if this sounds stupid, but do you think you rebelled as average teens do, or was it because of the death of your father? I say sorry if it sounds stupid because I guess you can never know for sure, but I am wondering if in retrospect you can say. I don't know what to expect, as some of these kids are teens, and one ten year old. They "seem okay" but I know they have moments of deep pain, and that's just what I have seen (no telling what they keep inside). I have met many people who lost a parent/loved one, and they seem so....I dont know the right word, seem as if they are fine and have dealt with it. I guess I'm just wondering when or how long it took to get there? Does everyone get there? I also met one lady who, after five years of her husband's death, it was still apparent she was still dealing with it. In this case I'm very concerned because they are so young, and their mother no less. JB, yes, the rebelling was a result. Just before my dad died, he had got a new job in another city and we were going to be moving in a month or so. As he had already started his new job, my brother and I were commuting with him every day to our new school (about an hours drive). He had a fatal car accident shortly after starting his new job and since all the papers had been signed by him before his death, we still had to move house, so left all our friends behind. Between the day that he died and the funeral, I obviously did not go to school. I remember people arriving at the house with plates of food( as if that was going to make things better). We (brother, sister and I) were 'placed' in a room with a TV and I can't remember anyone asking any one of us how we were. Upon my return to school, I remember being confronted by one of my new classmates, accusing me of truancy.(Weird what you remember!) My mother could not cope with her own grief, never mind trying to deal with the 3 of us (and she didn't work either so was very lonely). We often used to arrive home after school not knowing what we would find... she started drinking and used to lock herself in the bathroom and pass out on the floor. She lost her will to live and it seemed that she did not care about us anymore either. I was embarrassed by her and her behaviour and resented that we were now a dysfunctional, single parent unit, especially as everyone around me had mums and dads. How long does it take? Different for everyone... it broke my heart that my father was not there to give me away when I was married, that my children will never meet him... Sorry that I have waffled... I will stop now. Someone else has already mentioned grief counselling and this course of action makes sense. It is very kind of you to be so concerned about your friend and her children and I hope that they are able to come to terms with their terrible loss sooner rather than later.

Okay, I don't have green fingers, but here goes: We bought a small bouganvillea that weekend that it rained in Dubai, so also about 2 months ago? Anyway, we planted it in the garden and it is coming along beautifully. We only water it sporadically, maybe once a week, as they are very hardy plants and thrive well in drought conditions. Also, they need sunlight and ours in in a spot where it gets all of the afternoon sun. So, I guess my questions are: is your tree in a spot where it gets enough sun and are you over watering it? Hope that helps!

I think everyone has dfferent coping mechanisms. My dad died when I was 14, my brother was 15 and my sister was 10. My mum fell to pieces and we became her crutch, especially my sister. For about 5 years after, my sister shared mum's room as she could not bear the thought of sleeping alone. Sadly, I was too busy with my own rebellion to realize what a horrible downward spiral mum was on. The death affected us all deeply, nothwithstanding that fact that we had to watch the surviving parent become a cusp... she is still alive, although she has been dead for 30 years. In this situation, keep open dialogue and remember who is the child.

Sorry to sound a bit stupid but what is "Corporate Debentures"? It also mentions it on the JESS website as Corporate Debentures AED20,000, but i dont know what this means. :( From what I understand about school debentures in Dubai: a specific company will comit to pay for x number of places per year. Usually a debenture is for more than one year. Due to the transient nature of Dubai, if a company buys a 3 year slot, that slot remains the companys, even if the student leaves after 1 year. Make sense? GEMS also offer debentures.
