We've been here since June and love it. The Community Centre is due to open next month fingers crossed, where there will be a small supermarket, coffee shop, health clinic etc. Phase 1 is all completed and looks lovely, phase 2 is getting there, but bearing in mind we were one of the fist people in there and it was the summer they haven't managed to finish our landscaping yet, but they are getting on with it. There is a small shopping centre at The Villa which is about 5 minutes away. A larger one at DSO and then Mirdif City Centre which is only about 15/20 minutes down the road. To be honest we hope we can spend the next few years here until we have to leave Dubai. Thanks a lot Geordie. Any idea about the rents for 4 bed semi detached villas? And can you please tell me how long is the drive from falconcity to silicon oasis market area?

We are moving to Dubai and thinking of living in Falcon city. Can anyone please tell me how are the amenities there? How is the community? Any supermarkets close by? Thanks

For a long time we have been very unhappy with our boys school. Pastorally , educationally and ethically we have been disappointed. Our boys were reasonably happy but one by one, their friends have left and gone to one of the new schools. As our company pay our fees, it hasn't been easy for us to speak with our feet so have held on so far. Last week I went to an open day at a school where I came away feeling totally crestfallen that my boys were missing out on what looks like a totally different experience. The passion of the head teacher, and the children was wonderful. I want my boys to have that, not what they (and we) have put up with for the last 2 years. The friends I have that have moved are delighted with the change but here's the problem, the friends I have that haven't moved are all having a go at me, telling me I owe it to the boys in their classes to stay put, there's been enough of an exodus. I know my kids are my first and only priority but the 'bullying' from these parents is becoming dreadful. I am now wondering if I should just move them now 'silently' (was planning for next year) to avoid any more hassle. I know there are a few spaces in their years but didn't ask when the 'cut off ' date was for moving. Does anyone know if I could move them in January if not now or is that too late? Hi. May I please have the name of the school whose open house you attended? And if you don't mind, then also the name of the current school your kids are going to. I am in the process of moving to Dubai. And at the moment totally confused by the school situation. The lack of availability in the top schools has made the choice so difficult. Would appreciate your help. Thanks

Thanks a lot darlingboys. That has really put my mind at ease regarding Kings al barsha . I really appreciate your help. The only reason I was apprehensive was because there are no khda ratings yet about this school. And sitting away from Dubai, one has no recourse to information other than these forums. So thanks again. Luckily they are still accepting year 3 applications. So I've put mine in. Have got my fingers crossed for now. Is there a way I could pm you over this forum, if I have any further queries? Or else, we could exchange emails?

Another very happy King's Al Barsha family here :) Wonderful Management, staff are really excellent and the school is inclusive ( a rare commodity in Dubai). Unlike other schools in Dubai (NAS being one of them) Kings wont take on a child that they cannot adequately support. For any parents with Dyslexic children, the support is excellent. Better than anything we have experienced as a family or indeed in my capacity as a teacher in various schools in Dubai. Darlingboys I'm not sure what you mean by 'School is inclusive'? I'm considering Kings al bersha for my son (year 3). Would highly appreciate more feedback in terms of staff, students and parents satisfaction etc. And how far approximately is the commute if I was to travel from. Springs /Meadows?

In all fairness though it's not just a few who have left, it's literally hundreds of families, so it's not surprising that some of them are on here. Having choice and a degree of honesty in the schools available to people in Dubai can only be a good thing surely? I'm soon moving to Dubai and was considering Repton for my kids. However after reading some negative comments, I'm now in double minds. Could you please give some details as to why such negativity prevails for Repton? What exactly has led the parents to withdraw their kids from this school? If u would not like to reply on this forum, I'll pass you my email address.. But please help me out.
