The shade of turquoise on that image is very cold, if you paint that in the whole room it will not be a very welcoming feel, rather a cold "hospital" feel. It should be a warmer turquoise, or just keep the brown as main color and the turquoise as accent.

I do think the tripadvisor rating is fair, especially from a tourist point of view dubai taxi service is fantastic, they are always metered and do not intentionally go for long unnecessary loops. Not like at many other cities, where airport taxis are rotten sharks, telling you that the meter does not work, or offering you an "off the meter" deal that will cost 3x, or driving you around for 30 mins extra exploiting that you do not know the city...these very rarely if ever happen in dubai. Also, most of the time you get back items that you left in taxis, even valuable ones, which is very very rare in other cities.

Do not get 3 different types of wall. Wallpaper on one of them, and brown all the rest will be calmer and will look better. You can paint the base trim and the door frames and doors turquoise if you want, or white. But make them all one color. Then buy turquoise pillows for your white sofa. Done. That's what I would do.

Difficult to predict what's best, as they improve it every year. Two years ago cars could not move and those who took the metro were the winners. So last year everyone tried to take the metro, it was a massacre, while cars moved out relatively ok. Not sure what's best really. edited by dentro on 30/12/2012

The traffic jam and the crowd is a pain, but being just there in downtown and being surrounded by the most amazing fireworks is an unforgettable experience and I would not miss it. You can see it from a distance, but that's not much different from seeing it on tv. You cannot hear the music, you cannot see the fountain, which are also part of the show. The rainbow color show last year completely amazed me and I know for a fact you could not see the colors with the same rainbow intensity from a distance. It is just really 3D when you are there, and the explosions are above you all over. edited by dentro on 30/12/2012

The allowed max time is always at the end of the confirmation text message. Just checked mines, it is either 4 hours or 10 hours, depending on the zone. After this time you will not be able to further extend your ticket.

Answers below in white font. Select to highlight if you want to read. [color=#FFFFFF'> 1. White 2. Also white. On the ground. Large. In the very center. Fills about 60% of the floor area and about 1/3rd the height of the room height. I see the corner of it. So 3 sides are visible, two sides and the top. 3. At the back wall, on my right (I am standing in the corner). It is a wooden frame glass window, side hang, opening in the middle, opens inwards. It is now closed though. The framing is painted white. The glass is shiny clean. It is sunny outside. 4. Ladder is at the back corner, leaning to the wall. Made of wood, walnut color. About 6-7 steps. Not broken, all fine, but a bit faded from being used. 5. Horse is on my left, facing the window. Behind the cube. It is taller than the cube. Brown color, quite hairy. Not sure about the breed as I am not a horse expert. It is just standing, waving and nodding his head a bit. He is relaxed, happy. No saddle, but he has a harness around his neck and head. 6. Flowers on top of the cube. Big bouncy of summer flowers, yellow and orange and red. The horse is licking them sometimes. They are freshly cut. About 30 of them. The vase is silver. 7. It is just windy, moving papers and the white tablecloth that suddenly appeared on the cube. Started above the horse and moves towards the window. Tilts the ladder towards the corner, but does not tip it over. It is moderate, not very big. [/color'> Now explain please :) edited by dentro on 28/12/2012

By having a separate baby account you give your own friends a choice to opt out from the baby picture flood, while family and other interested people can opt in and have all your baby pics. The account is managed by the parent not by the baby. When the kid is big enough to be allowed to have her own account, she can set up an other one or take it over. I find this approach very nice and sensible. Not all your friends are interested in all your baby pictures, it is saving your Facebook friendship that would may be put on "ignore" by friends who are fed up with baby pics.

Le Cadre is great and very cheap. I got 4 30x30 done @ 30dhs each 30 aed for printing your own photo to a canvas and stretching it to a frame? Or just stretching an existing canvas to a frame? It sounds like the latter only....

:( very sad. I am personally looking forward to the times when people will not be discriminated based on their passports which are mostly tied to the origin of parents and beyond our individual control. ( similarly to gender, age, etc) For the time being, I wish you and your husband the best.

Very sad that something like this is happening among a brother and sister. I do not believe that the police would be an effective solution. The best would be if the parents or an other sibling could settle this. Also, she may want to change her email address, or set up an automatic filter that deletes his messages immediately.

Same price but on flight is much narrower selection, only a few items really. I usually buy my cosmetics at dubai airport. There won't be good duty free at arrival to the uk, only at departure.

All the trainings we had were catered by us ( the attending company). I guess it also depends on the size of the company, whether they have office boys or not.... As you said, the best is to include a statement in the proposal " coffee, tea, water and sandwiches at lunchtime are assumed to be provided by ( client's name) To attendees and trainer. However, may also be arranged by us for an additional fee of x aed/ person" If you are on husband's visa, having just an noc from him will not render working legal. You still need a labor card. If you have a labor card from a training company you work for, you will need to attach their trade license to the proposal. If you are on your own, you should get a free zone registration ( budget 30,000... ). However we frequently had trainings given by uk companies, who were only registered in the uk. You may want to research a bit as time management trainings are offered by many. Productivity as a direct result of your training is hard to measure. Attending a training will have no effect whatsoever unless habits are changed and reinforced afterwards. What we found is that a training + follow-up one-to-one session 2 weeks later and then group summary session 6 weeks later works probably the best when new habits are taught. Wish you the best luck!

Never heard of them but I have the feeling very soon an other newbie will say something very positive about them along with their phone number... But in case your post was genuine, almost every maid agency services the downtown area, it does not really matter which one you go with. Give a few weeks to the maid, if it does not work out, change to other agency. Try Helpers, Molly maids, howdra, etc.

You have signed that you would not work for a competitor for two years. If you do, they can sue you and you may end up paying a large penalty, depending on the seniority level of your job ( this clause usually goes to top manager's contract). Staying in the field is not a problem, but working for a competitor is. You can work for a subcontractor, supplier, client, etc. check the wording properly... It is not only stealing information, it is also taking your knowledge of their market position and business strategies and using your skills that were trained by the first company to help the second company. Maybe you should tell your plans to the first company and maybe even get in writing their no objection, to avoid any problems in the next two years. edited by dentro on 10/12/2012

Your skin needs frequent deep cleansing, weekly to start with. Visit Elchee ( jumeirah 1) or Simplyskin ( al ghazal mall at all wash -al diyaffah corner) salons, their therapists are very good. They will also advise you to do frequent fruit enzyme peeling or similar which works wonders ( 3x a week).

Not for long term! But very comfy for camping (compared to sleeping on the ground...) and ok for a few nights for visitors when they come. The secret is to pump as much air in it as possible! Buy an electric pump, they come with wall plug and car adaptor. I have a queen size. The single size is too narrow.

I did LPG and it is effective on the body but you need loads of sessions. 30+... The face one is useless, do not waste time. These days they have LPG in many salons and spas. I used cobone offers, there were quite a few for 1000 for 10 sessions or even less. Ask how long is the session, should be 45 mins, but sometimes they cut it less for the offers.

We moved to Dubai earlier this year from the UK. My 13 yrs old daughter is an avid ice skater and spend a few hours of her weekend at Dubai Mall ice rink. She is very beautiful but she definitely look 13/14 yrs old. So over the last 6 months, she has caught the eyes of a bunch of local young guys whom are also regular at the rink. They seems to have approached her, exchanged phone numbers and now FB friends. There is one particularly slimy looking guy who looks to be in his early or mid 20s that is trying to hook up with her. Trouble is she is flattered by the attention and sweet nothing that she is ignoring everything we said to her. She has now lied to us about the going ons with this guy. I saw on the Guy's FB that he has/had (?) Caucasian gf that looked to be 15 yrs old that has moved back to the US. So seems he likes 'em very young. I have been monitoring their FB chats quietly, without her knowing, and it is getting very uncomfortable the longer it goes. I was hoping that one of them would lose interest and fizzle out on its own but no sign so far.. Now, if I am in a western country, I would have been at the police with print of their conversation. I also believed that he has told my daughter that he is 18 but he is not. We are 100% sure that he is at least 22/23 yrs old. But here I don't know how would the authority react over a case of an adult trying to hook up with a minor.. can someone please give me some pointer? Is this acceptable among the locals? What can I do to prote ct my daughter? I am also worried that we will get in trouble being the foreigners in this country. edited by Kate123 on 03/12/2012 edited by Kate123 on 03/12/2012 While it is indeed highly inappropriate from the guy, the person you have control over is your daughter. She does not need to understand why are you forbidding her to talk to this guy, but she needs to follow what you ask her to do. Tell her to tell the guy next time not to contact her any more, stop talking to him, defriend on Facebook, - up to you, whatever you feel necessary. If he does not stop when your daughter stops contact, your husband can talk to him, and if he still continues stalking then the police will help. edited by dentro on 03/12/2012

My summary of weekend findings: The fake trees in ikea look very very fake. Ace has good trees, including fake ones and real ones (400 aed for 5 feet tree). Ace has tons of decors, but very boring ones, and mostly limited to red-gold-silver. The best value rice lights are from choitrams.
