@Claire Do you have the contact details for the private home lessons? I would love to try the thai class in the meadows and the vietnamese class. Gina's email is [email protected] I did her classes about 1.5 years ago, they were great. She had small groups and we ate together and took home the leftover :) I am still doing some of the dishes at home based on her recipes.

Best if you go to immigration and ask. The small one in festival city ( outside marks and spencer) isn't as busy usually. Or the main one is near trade center. If possible take passport and visa copies with you.

A "free" alternative is to donate blood, they screen for it for sure, but heeey, be prepared to leave the country if it turns out that way. I hope you are fine!

Implications: wasted flight ticket and time. He will not be allowed in unless he holds the passport of the 33 nations that can enter on a stamp at the airport or unless he has a per-arranged visitor visa. It is all in the computer, even if the actual passport does not have the cancellation stamp. edited by dentro on 01/11/2012

Agree, as I know you can only sell things made by you on those markets, you need a trade license to do any import deals. It will be more expensive than 17k as the cheapest free zone registrations exclude trading, plus there is also a 5% import tax.

Normal emirates post works well for that. The problematic part used to be to receive packages through them, but I have to say emirates post improved a lot in the past 1-1.5 years and I was very impressed with them at the last few occasions.

Watching YouTube or doing online course will not look as good when mention on the cv as a certificate could. I support the idea of getting the certificate. It also shows you are serious about working as invested in it. Then if you are not fully satisfied with the teacher, just watch youtubes to master your skills! Nadia http://www.nadia-training.com/ also gives classes. I would just go for the one closest to you! edited by dentro on 20/10/2012

I did have a caller like that. He called daytime and nighttime, sometimes just breathing excited over the phone ( he must have played with himself...). It is not that easy to "just ignore". He called again a few days later. Even when I saved his number and did not pick it up it still bothered me. I told him I will report him to police, but he still kept on calling. I strongly suspected that he was one of the taxi drivers so after a while I called the taxi company to complain. They did not want to deal with it at all and suggested me to call the police. Eventually it stopped so I have never went to the police, but I know how disturbing this was, especially when I saw he was calling while I was in a business meeting or similar.

Chocobella, can you recommend maid agencies who send girls for 2 hours only, this far I was told by all that their minimum is 4 hours. I end up sharing them with neighbors usually but my current neighbors are not interested.

Well, you really only have three options: 1. Suffer... 2. Tell your boss it's unbearable... But nothing may happen... 3. Talk to her. Now you are afraid your relationship would suffer, but it is already bad, as you hate sitting with her. It cannot get worse. Tell her it is also embarrassing when she meets clients. Be straightforward, if you mention just in between the lines she may not understand what you mean. You can turn the conversation into discussing favorite deodorant brands and frequency of laundering bras.

Went to executive towers to see flats today. Can someone explain the logic why the entrances are lettered the same way as towers, but their location does not match? Tower B and entrance B seemingly had nothing to do with each other! Why?

If you have not done it yet, try talking to the labour ministry first, they are quite helpful, 800665. Otherwise sorry, cannot recommend lawyers.

those are just heavy. just go, you will find there everything. clothing, electronics and home decor is much cheaper than here. real food is hard to find (among the tons of junk) but you cannot take that. if you miss something, i am sure a friend of you can send or bring later!

national day is 2nd dec, it does not depend on the moon but fixed. as per uae law there is no allowance for moving public holidays to workdays. if it falls on weekend, that is tough luck! however some companies could still give out extra days, up to them. mostly because they are low on workload anyways.

sorry but this is just super GROSS. why did they give the tonsils out instead of treating as "dangerous organic waste", how weird. How is it dangerous ? same way as a dead body is dangerous. as it decomposes bacteria (and later worms) feeds on it. that's why dead bodies are buried or burnt.

staying till 7-7:30 is not outrageous at all.... actually that 1 hour extra could be included in your 9-6 timing with more efficiency.

I wish someone like AnonDubai, who is very familiar with the local culture would come join us in this thread and shed some light on this. Why on why, spend precious family moments, during a blessed holiday, at a mall?!??!!?:\: not only the malls are full at holidays, but all the beaches, all the parks, all the usual spots (hatta pools, fossil rock, etc).

Also a number of lounges offer complimentary access if you hold certain platinum credit cards, check with your credit card provider if they have such. ALso you can get Priority Pass for worldwide lounge access, it is sometimes free with certain credit cards, but you can also be a member separately, check out http://www.prioritypass.com/ Good luck and if everything fails, just sit into the "Irish Village" outlet at terminal 3 and have a few drinks :) edited by dentro on 07/11/2011

there are 2 options for staying nearby: the visitor center itself. it is pricy and is about 3 star, very clean though, and comfortable as the turtle tours are either 9 pm to cca midnight or 4 am to cca 6, if i remember correctly. the other option is the tourist camp about 5 mins drive, very cheap and very basic accommodation, kinda shelters with basic simple bed rather. bathroom is in separate building. they give bedsheets but maybe it is a good idea to have your sleeping bag with you. a third option would be camping with your own tent, free, anywhere off the road. there are a few hotel type establishments about 25km away too, i have not tried those. good luck.

Just AVOID avant garde salon in JLT. She glued my eyelids together, was the scarriest thing ever!!!! She has trembling hands and was about to cut my eyelids open with scissors! She put glue everywhere, looked like a chaotic jungle, yet the lashes fell off within 1.5 weeks. She said she had been doing it for 6 years, well, that's either a big lie or she is very lucky that she is still employed!

Funny how today's kids think meat just produced by machines and appear on the supermarket' shelves. They would die in starving in the middle of a farm with cows, chicken, rabbits. When I was little my family was invited so many times in relatives and neighbors slaughterings, in my country it is mostly ****, sheep, goat. We, kids, found it part of life, never got scarred. We gave a last pet to the rabbits. It explained in practice how my food arrives to the table, maybe also made us appreciate food better and do not just throw away the leftover. Suddenly things that were normal became "dangerous" (like letting kids play two blocks down without escorts) "scarry" and "not suitable for kids". No judgement here, time will tell what is right practice.

If you don't need it now, you should wait until iPhone 5 as usually the rule of thumb for Apple products is not to purchase the 'even-numbered' versions because those have the least amount of changes and updates from the previous version. funny that you set up a rule based on 4 releases only...

s&s is awesome and very handy, even if you do not use it very often it is a one off registration fee for lifetime, and when you need it is good to have it ready, as the registratiion takes some time. 82 aed is about halfprice.
