i received my citi bank credit card statement today and the fine print says they will "soon" revise the rate of mileage bonus and i should watch their website to learn "when will the new rule be introduced and what it will be" khmmm. so hold it back a bit, it may change and something tells me, not to the good direction, otherwise they would not be dodgy about it annual fee is 1000 aed on the platinum btw, and they do not ask you if you want to extend or not, just surprise-charge...

there are post offices. you buy the stamps there. check their website for locations. http://www.emiratespost.com/content/english/contact.jsp;jsessionid=f6b763a15bcd41b38787b18b64fb243c or the easiest: ask the secretary at your work to give it to the driver to mail it for you, and pay for the expenses

and would the school allow that? isn't it humiliating to the kid that he needs a dedicated teacher to sit with him all day while other kids manage stuff on their own? If they could manage on their own a shadow would not be needed. It does require sensitivity on the part of the shadow with older students but can still me managed well. I shadowed a Year 10 boy with various learning issues back in Australia and it worked really well-and to his credit he made it into university in the end. interesting. i have never heard of this concept.

I am afraid we do not understand your question. Basically you want to find a serviced apartment which is not as expensive as a serviced apartment? LOL 1 year is long enough time, he should just go for a normal place, he can find furnished ones but for sure a non-furnished + buying some furniture will be still much cheaper and more comfortable than a serviced apartment. If he still want a serviced apartment for some reason, he can just pick one, pay for a week, and go around and find an other one, 1 year is long time, so he can maybe get a discount if negotiated in person.

The majority of their callers do not have companies, but want one. Why on Earth does she demant to know my company? Only in Dubai!!!!

I do not see why they should stop. If they do not produce good music people will not buy. If people like it, then it is better to go on and use their talent. Noone questions why Beethoven, Strauss, Tchaikovsky, Wagner, etc composed and played music until they died.

also greatly depends on the tailoring of the upper part - neck cleavage area of the dress pluss in general, if you want attention on the pendant, the dress should be simple cut, not very busy in detail, and your shoes should not attract the eye either

One of my many, many pet peeves about shopping here. I usually make something up. "Call me Mickey. Mickey Mouse." (deligently typed in by unsuspecting shop-robot.) for a while i got millions of phone calls for a guy named Peter something. he must have mistyped his number or maybe had it wrong on a business card. was pretty frustrating. after a while i stopped explaining that i am obviously not Peter, and I just simply said "speaking". you would not believe how many people just went on continuing their conversation believing that i was Peter!!!

Why do they ask for nationality on lottery tickets? And i saw this in Home Centre at Marina Mall in Abu Dhabi. The guard had a paper with the following categories: Local Arab Arab other Indian European Everyone entering was marked into one of these categories; Funnily they didnt have any category for Chinese or Africans or Latin Americans or other Asians because their marketing department need to know who are the majority of their clients, to target them better. chinese and africans etc are not represented in the UAE in such big numbers than locals, other arabs, indians and westerners. so not a lucrative target group for a new sales campaign.

i also advise he sticks with law (unless he hates it and plans not to work in law in the future). he can always switch from law to marketing, but he can never switch back to law after working in marketing. dubai may not be the best place for law, he may need to just go wherever else they have opportunities in his field.

I bought the kit in dubai about 8 months ago, still using that set. the dvd is very helpful and a must if you are new to it. it is three powders to combine, gives good visual coverage and long lasting on the face. also very light which is excellent in this heat, does not fill the pores. i simply love it and cannot imagine using liquid or creamy foundation, or anything else than these bare escentuals powders. i swear by them. i also tried their smoky eyes eye shadow set, which is also great, but not the best ever eye shadow. the glitters in the eye powder do bother my eyes a bit. so, stick with the foundation kit, that is an excellent superb product. i think i bought the kit aroun 250-300 aed, not sure. the price arohadxb mentioned seems overly high. 600 or 900 aed for a small pot? no way!!!! i guess maybe 60 and 90, one zero less! <em>edited by dentro on 06/09/2011</em>

Don't worry about the kids, kids in Dubai schools are more than used to teacher changes, they will cope. It sound like "do not worry about beating your kids, kids with alcoholic mothers are used to be beaten, they will cope" Dubai is transient. Kids move, teachers move, life moves on, that's expat life. You want teachers who stay 20 years and care then go back to a country where there is freedom of movement. Posters have no idea about the working conditions of the OP or her reasons, i don't think teachers generally leave for no reason. And if they do then they are not worth keeping anyway. The teachers can leave, but it is far not to start a new academic year if they have such intention. Just because the kids are expat kids, they still have the right to receive a full comprehensive year's of knowledge, and each teacher (especially with different backround) has different teaching style. The beginning is always slow, when the teacher "learns" the abilities of her students, now these poor kids will have it twice... Just not right. I am most surprized that you are so indifferent about it, and you think that switching teachers makes no difference to the kids. If that would be true, why schools maintain the same staff over the year, why do not your kids have a new teacher every two weeks. Come on, it is ridiculous. The OP should not start the school year, in all fairness. No i think you have to be realistic about the environment you reside in, not every employer is a barrel of laughs to work. Again we are not aware of individual circumstances therefore one should not be too harsh in judgement. Not many schools years go by as an expat where teachers don't leave through a year and kids cope, some improve, you want long term stability than pay the price of private school fees in home countries. And what makes you think that punishing the kids because the employer created whatever circumstances to the teacher is right and justified? Kids have nothing to do with it. Even if the employer is horror, your own diligence and reputation and care should make you finish your tasks properly. I am not talking about 20 years, just a full academic year. The home country schools - the problem is not the price (eg. in Europe schooling is free) but the distance. Parents and children like to see eachother every day, especially in young years. edited by dentro on 05/09/2011 What are you on about, no child will be punished if their teacher leaves! They will cope and it may even benefit them! LOL! I thought you were serious!

you may find a buyer first, run with his money to the bank, close the loan, transfer the registration to the buyer, but to be honest, when so many used cars are on the market readily available, it is not likely that you find someone who wants to give you the money but only receive the car later.

a friend lives in al seef 2 since it opened and they had no mould problem. they did have the smell problem in year 1 but as previous posters said it is long solved by now. i think that apartment is lovely. very spacious. one of the best buildings in JLT. they say al seef 2 has slightly better quality finishes than al seef 3 (crisis kicked in before 3 got finished...)

i went only once, just to inquiry about their treatments, the receptionist refused to explain me anything, i had to wait for the therapist, the therapist was as stupid as a doormat, she could not explain anything useful but :"this is a very good machine maaaam", i was furious to be made waiting for this, left and never went back. i went there because they had coupons in bodybook, you wonder what the manager was thinking, bodybook brings the clients in, but you have to work on keeping the clients!!!!

for a 3-4 year or older car you can actually negotiate it down a lot, but then it means the total value reduces too. they consider if i am correct 7% depreciation yearly. if it comes, let's say 80k, you can say you are ok with 60k max, and pay 5%of that only. not really worth, but up to you.

means if value is 130.000, no claims it is approx. 6.500 per year? Quite a lot... Yes, but when you realise how dangerous the roads here are and how many accidents the insurance companies are paying out for every day, you can understand why it's so expensive... ehmm??? i drive every day, 30-40,000 km a year, and have had no claim on insurance in the past 5 years.

We bought like 2kg of Senegali Mango from Co-op that looked and smelled awsome and couldnt wait to reach home to try it!!!!!! BY CHANCE and this is not what I do usually, I was looking at the mango while peeling it to find worms in it!!! was shocked!!!! peeled the second one and the same!!!!! Im planning on taking the rest and go there tomorrow... I used to just cut the mango in 2 halves and spoon it out................ I will never do that again!!! :) you must be very young dear! when i was a child, worms in fruits were pretty frequent and normal. and i do not consider myself old!!! at least it shows you are not eating pesticides, consider it "organic".

fully furnished includes tv, sofas, all furniture, fridge, washing machine. however there are not too many fully furnished apartments, and the ones tend to be studios. the very few bigger ones are quite overpriced being fully furnished. the majority of rentable apartments are not furnished, however appliances (oven, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, washer, dryer) are almost always included. furniture and appliances can be purchased in very reasonable prices in dubai. an advice: Ikea is not the cheapest here, you can find better quality on better prices in other furniture stores.

if you have roaming you can use it with your uk card. if you are here longer, get it unlocked. i am not sure if they do it here, i do not think it was legal. etisalat/du does not do it, for sure. can your uk provider unlock it legally for a fee? as for sim cards, i was under the impression they are standard sized. actually only the chip part is important, you can cut the rest if you need. etisalat or du will not give you anything else than the standard size sim card. if you mean etisalat prepaid and etisalat blackberry sim, yes, you can keep the number. the sim is the same size. i am not sure if they give you an other one or just change the data in their computer system. but they will set it for you, no worries. <em>edited by dentro on 31/08/2011</em>
