it is an individual choice, since it does not take forever, only 10 hours of your like, but once you fly with Emirates, it is hard to sit back on BA, their service is so much better. for me, it would be no question. emirates!!

no. and i know it for sure. neither pharmacies, nor hospitals or charities will accept it. in the second when you cross the door of the pharmacy it is out of their controll. you may have injected something funny into it, or just kept above the recommended temperatures, who knows. They will discard it, it is law. pharmaceutical industry is very regulated. the only chance is to give it to individuals (friends or family) who trust you. i bought some reductil when i needed it through EW actually, they discontinued that pill so my only chance was to buy it second hand. i took the risk and it worked very well, but no sane doctor would recommend it. there is a difference when i take a risk for myself, or give it to others as a doctor or pharmacist who do not know how i got it.

yes i would like to investigate the correct use and limits of the health card but there is no information available hence i really appreciate all your posts, very useful ones. after being on international medical insurances for so long i realized it may be just the hype, and actually a lot seems to be available for much cheaper. so i would love to know more about the government system. keep your helpful posts coming, please share your experience if you are using the government health card, where did they accept it, for what.

thanks purple. al badaa is behind shangri-la, on the road parallel to SZR but behind the high-rise row, towards satwa. the hospital that gives the health card is al baraha in deira.

It is 10:30 pm!!! Where did the day go? I swear I look at the clock, and look again in a few seconds, and it is like an hour later!! But when I travel to other countries, the day appears to be longer. How is that? It supposed to be quick when i enjoy (holiday) and slow when i do not (work...), but seems the other way around!

maybe it is with the towel / your clothing as you undressed. maybe somewhere on the floor. it is quite unlikely that it is in the loo. if it dropped to the toilet bowl, then it is either still visible, or gone with the sewage. look at the section of a toilet bowl here and you will understand why: http://www.homerepairforum.com/images/uploads/2005-9-10_Toilet_Bowl_crosssection_w550.JPG

thank you. i went to al badaa clinic which is listed on that page, 2 weeks ago. they said health card is not accepted there. hence my confusion. i also had an ex colleague who was charged for like 8000 aed in al wasl when her 1.5 year old needed hospitalization. not sure about the particulars of the case. would be so nice to be clear about what is health card good for. i asked the health card counter at al baraka hospital and even they could not explain.

-safety and security, almost no theft, crime -honesty of people. even the same people are more honest here than in their home country. -helpfulness of people. in general, everyone is so willing to help when one needs. -the fact that the majority of people here are well traveled, so easy to find common topics. -paying no tax, getting the chance to decide on my own future including retirement savings -having general medicine available without prescription -having no snow and rain -affordability of a car and petrol -ease of air travel, frequent flights to anywhere, kind and helpful ground staff at check-in -availability of awesome massages and spas :)

It's basically cutting out the step of the potential employer phoning the previous employer to confirm employment and last salary. i actually think they did call the previous employer (which is normal procedure, we do all the time, too), who confirmed the lower salary. they are asking for the payslip because of the contradicting information. in which case he probably cut his future, sorry to say. he either admits that he lied or say he cannot prove the salary , which sounds suspicious. if he has no pay slips he still could have account statements, check copies, or employment contract to prove. saying "sorry i do not have payslips" is not only suspicous but shows lack of problem solving skills. when they ask for the previous salary, there is no obligation to state a number.

i have an excellent filing cabinet in the kitchen - 2 ft high with a swing lid.... AKA File 13. This is my favourite one. You reminded me when I had my very first job my boss would hand me things for the circular file-being shy I didn't like to tell him I couldn't find it so I set up a new file and was surprised at the variety of things he gave me for it-it wasn't till years later after i left the job that the penny dropped and I realised he was referring to the rubbish bin-no doubt still to this day there is a huge file in the Australian Ministry of Health neatly archved under Circular File.....:( LOL!!! I can image someone finding it , going through thinking "what the h.ell!!" :)

no reasonable priced insurance will cover for existing illness discovered before the insurance start date. even if you go to the government hospital, the medication is still the same price. when she came the health check only includes blood test for HIV and x-ray for tuberculosis, nothing else. it is extremely likely that she had the lump before but was worried that she does not get employed if tells you. actually that may be a reason for covering as well, otherwise she would not cover when at home with you only. i think would help her figure out what it is and make sure she is not in risk, but only as charity, not as obligation.

but if you do not want to pay an absolute fortune, post a request on freelancer.com or elancer.com or similar website, get bids, select a candidate. the website deduct the money from you but will only release if you are happy. oh wow is this a dxb based website? i think international. i used them for various tasks, do not go for the cheapest bid, go for someone with good recommendations.

Lakshmi, does it need to contain all of the listed items? (Like getting a cap may be difficult, and i hardly ever see workers wearing baseball caps anyways) Can some of the items be used but in very good condition? (t-shirt, towel) Can there be extra items, like little gifts?

probably a virtuzone company visa is better option, still costs 30,000 cca + 6,000 / person for visas, but at least no business plan or accounts submission requirement, and the visas are ok for 3 years. in the second year and after it costs cca 15,000 a year for the registration but nothing is as cheap as the visa runs... or coming on a 3 month emirates airlines visa...

OP's situation is different. my understanding is that the husband has employment, visa, housing allowance, Wife is on spouse visa. They will rent OP's friend's maidroom. There will be a rental contract. Nothing illegal until this point. The grey area is that Op's friend will accept work instead of rental payment for the room. Slightly grey, but not a big no-no.

what if that is not a concern? like a top notch employee who isn't likely to lose the job. such a thing does not exist in the 21st century... but ok, in that case also, it is still better if you lease it not the company.

It is also illegal to house a male in your premises to whom you are not married to, but I am sure most of us had friends from home visiting and sleeping on our sofas? Do not be that rigid, that couple consider doing something human and nice with people who are poor and powerless.

I have a HP Photosmart C6283 All-in-one that I am willing to sell. About 2,5 years old and rarely used. Bought in DFC plug-ins. The reason to sell is because I hate that it complains that the ink level is low/ the cartridge has expired and refuses to print. I change the ink, expensive like ****, print my 3 pages, and by the time i need to print again, in a few weeks time, again it refuses and wants me to put in new ink. I hate that printer from the bottom of my heart. Bought a Samsung color laser instead, cannot print photos, but NEVER complains, awesome machine. I even have some leftover cartridges and lots of photo paper that i can give with it. mojey150@gmail.com Ink is no.177, 1 black +5 colors separate. Sold in the UAE. <em>edited by dentro on 10/08/2011</em>

Dubai Mall Food Court is only open for takeaways, no partitioned off area this year (why would anything be consistent in this country? haha!). Address Hotel Dubai Mall is attached to it, it has Ember restaurant open, 95AED for a dish, dishes are very tasty but tiny small.

Thanks everyone for keeping this thread updated. It boggles my mind why the mods wouldn't sticky this. :\: Cause probably they fear it is against the values of the country!! Mind you XPress magazin had a half page listing on 1st day of Ramadan about restaurants open all day!! So I guess mods are overly cautious (again).

Maybe I should open a driving school. i need to employ 1 guy who goes to RTA for learner permits every day, that is it. No cars no driving instructors needed. We just never turn up for the lessons, and demand full payment for releasing the learner permit. It is a gold mine, sweet! rofl brilliant, you forgot about - hire a guy who can't speak English so he can't be held accountable for any mistakes in communication :D Yes! Maybe a receptionist who just says "Ma'aam, how are you maaa'aaaam, would you like to book your next appointment maa'aaam? Our driver is there in a minute Sir!!" To bad sometimes I will need to fly back from Hawaii to collect the cash, I do not trust neither the damn stupid receptionist nor the non-english speaker RTA permit clerk with money transfers.

find a good craft project online to do with your kids? read tons of good books? learn something you have always wanted? language, sewing, golf, etc? go to waterparks? do volunteer work? go through your closets and find stuff for charity? your life is just as happy as happy you make it. hope you find something!
