Both can sponsor, but indeed you need a bit more paperwork. Since your husband is here and can easily sign anything, this should not cause a problem. I would chose based on the following: - whose company provides better medical insurance for your son - whose company pays flight tickets and education of children, if any. - whose job seems more stable and long term.

A condition such that can be abused by employers, giving the option of deducting money for "in house training" which in the reality was probably just the normal explanation on the employee's first days, but the employer gets the chance to keep some money. A few companies tried this to offset the visa cost, after it was made clear that visa cost shall be always by employer. Hence I am not terribly surprised that labour ministry is rejecting it.

The normal enbd savings account does not pay much interest but they have a "smart saver" account that pays 1.75-2%. I do not know about offshore bank rates.

There are lots of serviced apartments in barsha, near mall of emirates and also plenty in bur dubai, near computer plaza. You can also just drive around or ask taxi drivers. You get better rates if you there in person then over internet. Mind you, it is not legal to work without your visa and your company must progress that.

There is a printshop on sheikh zayed road next to crowne plaza in the building that has Byblos and subway. Called AST or similar... 3 letters starting with A... Enter next to subways, just behind, on ground floor. Also there is Technograph in karama, cannot explain well their location but their phone number is 04 3966363. They will deliver if the quantity is large enough.

I get Axa, relatively happy with them. They suddenly decided to blacklist some clinics without any notice or explanation, had to learn when I sent them claims and they rejected. That was not very nice. Otherwise they had been ok.

I heard of maids asking for 3500-4000 even 4500. Usually they were also very specific on other needs, like " I need internet" " I never work after 6 pm" or "my previous madam gave me an iPhone but it is broken now, it would be very hard for me not to have one". I do not think they will ever find a job.

Short answer: they are fakes, except a few cases like unwanted gifts with original invoice. Long answer: There are no miracles. If you would like a quality branded bag, buy it from the official shop outlet only. If you want to wear a brand but find the price high, buy the fake ones, which are plastic / lesser quality leather with lesser quality zippers and stitching. Many times also stored improperly so they smell moldy due to humidity exposure. If you need an affordable quality bag, do not go for brands, just go to shops and look for real pure leather with nice design and workmanship. edited by dentro on 28/07/2014 edited by dentro on 28/07/2014

How old are your children? A 7 year old may be more mature than it seems. Our mother was working full time and I was left alone with my 5 year old sister when I was 7. What about an agency maid for half a day, then you visit them in your lunch break, and they play/sleep alone for the rest of the day until you are home?

Yes, correct. According to labour law you cannot take holidays during your first 1 year, however the entitlement is adding up and you may take it after 1 year. I believe it is 1 year, not 6 months. During the first 6 months (probation period as per labour law, unless employer specified shorter) you do not have sick leave either, if you are sick, it will be unpaid and remain unpaid. Most employers do not mind people taking holidays in their first year and pay right away, but it is otherwise legal to treat it unpaid and pay later. However, working without labour contract is not legal. edited by dentro on 07/07/2014

You may jump on me for saying this, but some of my happy childhood memories include sitting in my father's lap while driving, pretending I was the one driving; standing up on the seats to push my shoulders through the roof lite and shout in the wind; crawling from seat to seat with my sister in our minivan. We were free, unrestrained, and I love our parents. I am sure many of you can remember similar happy moments. edited by dentro on 06/07/2014

If I understood correctly, you paid 7500 monthly before, but now he wants to charge you 15,000 for the extra month. Rera will not be able to help, as you had nothing in writing. Your best bet is to be nice with the landlord and say that since he had not announced the price prior, you really expected to pay the 7,500. However you are offering 10,000, so no one is unhappy. Only pay him the extra over your deposit, otherwise you may not see the deposit back.

Here is my advice: this is a workplace. You are there to work and get money in exchange. You are not primarily there to make friends or chat. Of course, it is nice if happens, and 90% of workplaces it would happen. But still not primary. So my advise: just keep professional, say hello to everyone when arriving and leaving, and work very hard in between. The team will appreciate you for you hard work, and knowledge on your field, and when everyone is positive about you, this lady will also join them like she had always been your best friend. Just keep professional, no rumoring, no mentioning to your boss that you cannot get along with others. (That would probably hit back, as he knows the other lady for long and you are new).

Try xerox or Konica or canon photocopier-printer machines for office. The home printers are not heavy duty. Contact their brand dealers for the full range of products. HP also have midrange printers but I personally hate HP. edited by dentro on 31/03/2014

If the BBQ is in the desert, then t shirt and jeans. If it is in someone's garden, then better to ask them or judge based on their lifestyle if it will be a dress up event or a laid back one. But in any cases, even if you under or overdress, it is rarely a problem in dubai. If you are fun to chat with, they will love you. Good luck.

When wherever you go you have memories of old friends popping to your mind, people who you had fun and friendship with but left the UAE and moved elsewhere. Every mall, shop, restaurant, park, street has a story and they make your hearth bleeding.

It is a bunch of colored lights and some projected animations that no one really understands. It does not really have an artistic value, rather it looks that 1 single company was commissioned who just put similar stuff everywhere. It is a bit like miracle garden, which is a bunch of petunias in a million different irrelevant and out-of-context formations, but the end of the day, still just petunias. (Phase 2 is better though). If you have a 5 year old, go by all means and let her run around the lights and watch them change color, but a bit boring above that age.

Banks do not always freeze accounts, only if you also had a credit card with outstanding amount or unpaid loan with them. I switched jobs 3 times here and never any problems with banks.

If they do not do anything you should complain to the facility managers - emaar would do something - or to police. I did complain on neighbors taking the dogs to pee just in front of the entrance and emaar put security on the watch - quickly improving the pavement stink situation! Very sad but pets can be frustrating.
