I have 2 air plane make it yourself kits that has never been touched, numerous electronic gadgets and 4-5 mobiles in very good condition lying unused cos some other model is the in thing now. Another hobby is to go at 100 kmph on a 80kmph limit road to see if the speed cameras actually flash if you cross that teeny weeny line on the speedometer..... and yeah it does flash as he has found out a couple of times.Thats 600 AED down the drain for nothing :(

Same happening at my end as well. DD - 9yrs falling sick every 3-4 weeks for the past few months. Even today I had taken her to hospital and was diagnosed with throat and chest congestion and was prescribed antibiotics. Septilin helps as a preventive medicine . I have used it couple of times in the past with good results. Just give for 4-6 weeks when the climate changes happen and when these diseases are doing the rounds.I had stopped giving her Septilin since she was almost 10 and above the age group for kids falling sick often . Looks like I have to start again.

Dont beat yourself up now, no point. It can happen even if we are watching them all the time. 1 second is all it takes , be thankful that you are lucky .He sounds just fine from what you wrote. If it was me , I would get him checked anyways rather than waiting and worrying. If you cant get an appointment for today with your normal doc, try Welcare Hospital. They have a paediatrician 24 hrs if i am right. Just drop in to the emergency and you can see a doc in 1 hour max or immediately for emergencies.

I get it from C4, MCC. You can find it along with all purpose flour. Has anyone seen vital wheat gluten in any of the shops here? used for baking bread

Piggle.. If your keyboard is the big one with 88 keys etc , then it will do for a beginner IMO. Later you can invest in a piano if you find that your DD is serious about learning.

i would like to add that i saw gluten free flour being sold at Al Adil stores. I tried baking cakes with this using the normal recipes and it came out very well. hopefully this info helps all GF expats here . no need to run to organic store in Dubai mall every time i ran out of GF flour. Also has anyone seen rice sheets in any of the supermarkets ? thought i could try these once instead of the pastry sheets

ACE have them , AED 25 per plant. Also saw them in a shop in the Plant souk in Al Warsan last week at AED 25. At Plant souk you may be able to bargain if you take 30 plants

agree with what purple has said... being friends with maids might have worked for some, but from my experience and that of my friends, i would suggest that you strictly stick to the employer- employee relationship. It will work much better in the long run

Lulu would be a good place to get one. Prestige is a good brand and has been in market for ages. Hawkins is another option

I took everything for myself and baby. But they do provide nappies, maternity pads, toiletries etc. I guess they will provide other items if you request. You can take a tour of the ward beforehand with appointment and check with the staff. Congrats and wish you the best experience

Anything i should ask / look for in particular when i visit the schools? What are the extras that we have to pay for apart from uniform, books, transport and school trips? she is not in Choueifat. Schools justify this by telling that shuffling ensures good mix of kids in every class. Like CAPTAIN AMERICA said , even i felt that the move is more difficult for parents rather than for kids. We have to make new friends and arrange for play dates , birthdays etc with a new set of kids

I have seen a shop selling homeo meds / products in Dubai Mall . i dont remember the shop name but i believe i saw it in the same floor that has waitrose supermarket and organic store. you can try there. Also there is a doc by the name Heather Eade in EHL Dubai Mall who is good in treating skin conditions and she is in to naturopathy. Maybe you can consult her also once and get the recommendations for natural products and maybe the shops that sell them. She is highly recommended in this forum. HTH

I put together 2-3 types of veggies together , boil till they are cooked well, add some soy sauce and pepper and lil bit corn flour dissolved in water to make it a bit thick. Sometimes i roast garlic first in lil bit olive oil and then add veggies to that to add a different flavour to the soup. Outheredxb... thanks for the link ... it does have a lot of ideas for low cal soups....do you know if its good to cook corn and eat with some salt and pepper as a snack? I am not sure how corn ranks calorie wise ... What are the non carb veggies that you take normally?
