There's a shop in one of the small Jumeirah malls, I think it's called 'Baby Bling', sell some really cool and unusual gifts for babies.

I'm sure you'd find something in Mirdif to suit you. Only 10/15 minutes from the airport, easy access to E311 and other major routes, regular bus service and only 5 minutes from Rashidya Metro station. Also have Mirdif City Centre which is just fab!

In the summer Mirdif Mums were running a Mum's and Babies morning at the Cinestar at Mirdif City Center, don't know if it's still going but you could contact them through their website to find out.

Royal Dubai School and Star International start from FS1 (pre-school) if looking for British Curriculum or Uptown Primary if looking for IB.

I feel your pain Loopy Lotti, I hit the big 40 in 4 weeks too!! I'm going with the 'Life begins at 40' way of thinking and have lots of celebrations, a holiday and a girls weekend away planned! Enjoy whatever you decide to do.

That's such a shame as Westendorf if such a great place and beautiful! If looking at France, another favourite of ours has always been Alpe D'Huez and we found some very reasonable self-catering apartments there. Hope you find somewhere!

Hi, my son is in his 3rd year at Royal Dubai School and loves it! We have had no issues with the school at all and have been happy with their teaching methods and all the extra-curricular activities etc. We have just been notified that the Principal is leaving at the end of the school year to go back to the UK, and they haven't yet appointed a replacement so not sure if that could mean significant changes or not. We also live in Mirdif and are very happy here, there is everything you need within close distance and the addition of the new Mall last year just added to the area's appeal! Enjoy your visit.

You can pick up the forms from the A&E Shops, there's one next to Spinneys in Uptown Mirdif, several others dotted around, others will be able to advise on where.

If you go to a Spinneys or BooksPlus they usually have display copies so you can have a flick through and see what's in them before you buy. The family one has vouchers for kids play areas, coffee houses, fast food etc. aswell as a lot of restaurants. The Fine Dining one is just restaurants I believe, although I've never bought this one.

Le Meridien Village Terrace near the airport - Dhs 195 all you can eat buffet including drink and a live band thrown in too! Blue Elephant great for Thai and Choices for another fab all inclusive buffet, both at the Al Bustan Rotana near the airport. Some great restaurants at the Madinat in Jumeirah, Jambase is a favourite of ours. The Entertainer is a 'buy one get one free' coupon book. Entertainer Family is Dhs 350 and is well worth buying, it also includes vouchers for Ski Dubai, all the waterparks, coffee shops, restaurants etc. etc. You might also be interested in the Fine Dining one, not sure how much that is this year tho.

Our school started a monthly payment scheme last term which was welcomed by those of us who have to pay our own fees and don't have an employer paying for us!

My brother and his family flew here with Gulf Air a few months ago and could not praise them enough! They have a 20 month old and the staff were amazing with him. They said they would definitely use them again.

Definitely contact someone through aaarabia.org, I have taken a visitor to some of their meetings on SZR on a few occasions in the last year and they were extremely helpful. There is a list of all the meetings on the website and also lots of contact numbers so I am sure somebody there will be able to help you. Good Luck.

Lymington is a lovely little town with a quay. Would also recommend a trip over to the Isle of Wight where there are lots of great places to visit including Blackgang Chine, Osborne House and Carisbrooke Castle which was always my favourite to see the donkeys turning the water wheel!
