Baby Annabel or Baby Bjorn are the best in my opinion.

WSO has approx 3,000 students. Yes the campus and facilities are impressive but that doesn't mean that your children will get a good education there. Give me a smaller, better managed school any day.

He was 12 and had loads of friends there but was still unhappy enough with the school to want to leave.

We had a terrible experience with WSO. Too big, impersonal, totally chaotic, bad communication, terrible management and the way they teach several subjects together and have 2 hour lessons just doesn't work in our opinion . My DS hated it and we got him out of there after 2 months and he is now much happier.

Am I the only one wondering why all these ladies want to send their children away? Children are children until they start their adult life and they need their Mum's and Dad's, why send them thousands of miles away to fend for themselves. Something I will never understand I'm afraid.

Only snag is that if you want to return anything you have to send it to the UK at your own cost, items can't be returned to a retail store like they can in the UK.

Thanks everyone, we're going to try the Terrace at the Park Hyatt. We've been to Beachcombers several times and love it, it's fantastic for the kids too.

Hi Ladies Bit of a long shot, but by any chance does any one have any vouchers for Beachcombers Friday Brunch (not evening buffet) that they would like to swap for something else? We have visitors in town and would love to take them on Friday but it is a bit pricey! Thanks in advance.

I would highly recommend Julie Hazell at Jewels jewelsgdpdubai.com/ She designed a beautiful ring for me and the service she gave was impeccable. Some of the designs she wore herself were out of this world!

They have them in Life Pharmacy in Uptown Mirdif. Might have them in other branches if that's not near you.

Pleased for you but also would be interested to know how you knew what place your children were on the list. Myself and several other parents I know are all on the wait list with no idea how far down the list we are or if there is even a remote chance that we might be lucky enough to get a place :-(

Can I ask how you know that you are top of the waiting list at DESC? Also, do you have places secured at another school in case places don't become available at DESC?

I guess the landlord may decide to put the prices up for new tenants? They are single storey 3 bedroom villas on a compound of 4 with shared pool, just off 47 St in Mirdif. I could find out landlord contact details if interested?

Have a look in Cotton On in MCC, I stumbled across their children's section a couple of weeks ago and got a gorgeous dress with a tutu skirt for my DD (who is 5) and it is really reasonable aswell!

Have you thought about looking at Villas in Mirdif? I know 2 that will be vacant in the next couple of months that are currently only 75k and they have 3 bedrooms and a shared pool.

Hi ladies I've got a lovely traditional solid pine bedroom set which I brought over from the UK with me. I need more wardrobe space so have been trying to find something here that would blend in but can't seem to find any pine furniture here. Does anyone have any suggestions where I might find one?

It does depend on the exchange rate which has dropped recently, but my Mum has bought her Pandora's here over the past year as it worked out quite a bit cheaper when she compared it to the UK.

We have lived in Mirdif for nearly 5 years and love it. Mirdif City Centre is great and you also have Arabian Centre and Festival City very close by. You are close to Emirates Road for links to other areas and can be on the beach in 30 minutes. There are plenty of areas of Mirdif that are away from the flight path if the planes bother you, but we live under the flight path and it doesn't bother us at all any more. Both our children are settled in a lovely school close by so we have no plans to move any time soon.

Have you asked your son's school librarian? I know our library has books that would be suitable and I know our librarian would be more than happy to loan them to a parent. Best of luck x

There are a lot of excellent schools that are rated 'Good' you shouldn't limit yourself to those that have an 'Outstanding' rating. Have a look at GEMS Wellington Academy, Silicon Oasis. It has only been open 18 months, has excellent facilities and already has a good reputation.

They do G.C.S.E.'s but beyond that It's only IB and BTEC, they don't do A Levels. I asked the question when I was there on a tour a couple of weeks ago.

The really annoying thing is they refuse to tell us what number we are on the waiting list so we have absolutely no idea if it's worth waiting to see if places become available or if we have no hope!

I would highly recommend Beachcombers at the Jumeira Beach Hotel. Book well ahead and ask for a table outside then when the children get bored of the kids play room and ice cream machine, they can just play on the beach while you sit back and relax. Perfect for visitors as it's on the beach with the Burj Al Arab in the background! (Also really good food!)

We did it a couple of months ago and to be honest weren't very impressed. While the food was quite good, we thought it was over-priced for what it was and there are much nicer places that aren't as expensive. The service was also pretty poor, we had to keep looking for a waiter to get drinks and some basic drinks like water and beer weren't included in the package price! We all agreed that we wouldn't go again.

Thanks em2San, just looked at the Etisalat Academy website and it looks perfect, however just called them and my son would not be allowed in until after 5.30pm. This is the same with the pool at Mushrif Park as he is 10 years old he can't come in with us!
