I also have blonde highlights that I am currently adding low lights to so I can go a bit darker. I have been going to Tiffany(British) at Spirals in JVC. She has been fixing the color disaster I had from another salon. She has been very good at explaining what she's doing and why. Before the holidays I had roots done, highlights, wash, cut and blowdry for around 550. They do offer a % off for JVC residents....I believe it is 10%. They also advertise specials on their facebook page from time to time. Definitely worth checking out.

Hi Quicksilver: Our lab was 14 when we moved to Dubai. We had a shorter trip than you did though as we only came from Kuwait. But, she had no problems at all. A friend of ours recently moved from Dubai back to the States and took their 13 year old cocker. Everything went great. The one thing I would suggest is making sure they are familiar and comfortable in a crate prior to your trip. And of course, make sure they are vet checked and in good health and you should have no problem.

There is a Facebook page called Walk N' Wag Dubai you can join. They should be able to give you some good advice and let you know where/when their walks take place. Welcome to Dubai.

Contrarymary: We used a company called Snoopy Pets Dubai to move our girl from Kuwait to Dubai. They did an excellent job, but admittedly we had them handle all the paperwork, etc. http://www.snoopypets.com I've also seen quite a few people recommend DKC Veterinary Clinic as they handle relo's as well www.dkc.ae/what-we-do/global-relocations/pet-exports and a woman named Linda Tedd has been recommended a number of times. I don't know her but if you search Linda Tedd Dubai she does have a Facebook page so maybe you could send a message to her that way to see if she could help? (BTW, you've probably already addressed this but just in case, I know some of the US airlines also have (or at least they did a few years ago) restrictions on pets flying between certain dates due to the heat. When we originally took our 2 to Kuwait, Delta/KLM wouldn't fly pets into the Middle East between June and October 15th. But, that could've changed in the meantime as well.)

Oh you are right contrarymary. Dubai will only now allow them to come in as cargo. I completely forgot about this. And you are right, it's VERY expensive. Flying to Qatar really isn't an option as driving from there to Dubai you must go through Saudi Arabia and that would be difficult at best if not impossible. I had heard from someone that does international pet relocations that Saudi is now only allowing in dogs for "protection or hunting." I can't vouch for that, though.

I agree with MaryCatherine. We used KLM for our 2 dogs and they were fantastic. They have phenomenal facilities in Amsterdam which I'm assuming would be your layover point if flying from Detroit. It's been a couple of years since we've flown our dogs with them, but unless they've changed their rules in the meantime, we were able to fly 2 large labs for $200 apiece as excess baggage where they were on the same flight as we were.
