Hello Ladies, Does anyone have a fisherman rib style knitting pattern for a men's jumper that I might take a copy of please? I have looked all over Dubai with no luck & I can't find my old one. The ones I see on the internet are not quite what I am looking for .

So you can easily dispose of the cylinder, you can sell it to others in lesser price. Thank you, but why would I bother selling for a lower price when I can get a genuine price from the dealer? Seriously..

You never get the deposit back. Call any of the gas companies and they'll buy the canisters back from you for between 100-150 dhs each. Never heard of paying a deposit for gas canisters. You just buy the thing.. Thank you Fairy Dust. I'm sure when we changed the size of our bottles a few years ago, they asked us how much deposit we paid. Maybe it's wishful thinking!!

Hello, wondering if there is such a thing as a German Shepherd owners group or social get together in Dubai? We have a new rescue puppy & I'd really like some breed specific support. I've looked on Facebook, but the website seems to be no longer operating & there is a breeder in Sharjah, but that's not really what I'm looking for. Any thoughts well received. TIA I have a hyper rescued GSD crazy one at home..she is 4 years old going on 2 months! if you want to socialise with mine it would be great...she lost her buddies earlier this year as I had two more rescued pooches....who died , so she is a loner now. Hello bubble_trubble, Yes! That would be great. We also have another dog, he's about 6 we think, also slightly beserk, but it seems that is how we like our dogs! How can I reach you, I won't be back online now until tomorrow morning..

Yes there are travel agencies offer service of Bus ride, from Dubai to Oman, stay in Oman, Dubai visit visa and return bus journey. Employing someone on any other visa than employment is illegal. If she is resident, and visa expiring, you need to cancel the existing visa before exit. Hope this helps. Thank you, more helpful. We know it is illegal to employ someone on any other visa than an employment one hence trying to help my friend out.

Filipino maids have never been able to do a visa run as far as I know. As her sponsor you are responsible to get the renewal process done in time. Sorry to say, but how can you not see that coming? Besides, the EID holiday isn't until the end of next week, so you have the whole week to get started with the paperwork. As long as you have the docs handed over to the authorities before the expiry date, you'll be fine. Thank you for your reply, but you assume wrongly, I am her sponsor; I am not. She has come on a tourist visa & I am looking to help a friend to get this transferred to a residence visa.

Hello, We're very obviously in a very different part than you may be. Where we are are all independent villas with 6 foot walls around them all, so no sense of community whatsoever - but that suits us. Our dogs didn't go into quarantine on arrival, but that was a few years ago now, others will be better able to advise, but I might suggest using a pet relocator, they know the ins & outs, things here have a habit of being rather more complicated than they need to be until you have a feel for it! Lots of good vets here, we've been very well looked after from minor issues to much bigger ones & food & treats are readily available. We do give our dog a haircut in the summer to help him cope with the heat, but he spends most of his day upside down under my feet in the AC of my office when it's too hot for him outside! Kennels, again, not something I'm familiar with, we have a live in maid who's main responsibility is to be there when we are not, she treats him like her own & he loves her, so we are comfortable leaving him home in familiar surroundings while we are away - he sleeps on her bed, he's such a traitor!! Dubai Mall - the closest - is about 10 minutes away & others are not much further, so very easy to get around. The evening traffic to Sharjah tends to start backing up just at our access exit meaning we miss most of it, so that's a good thing. We bought all of our furniture here, some new, some second hand - there's a thriving second hand community here but make sure you see the items before buying. The population is quite transient, so there's always something available. I really don't know about any pools, as I mentioned, we're in a different area. Between shopping for furniture, dog walking, activities with your child, you'll soon build your own network of friends, there's lots of people in your situation & we've all been new to Dubai at some stage, so most people are really friendly & welcoming & will help where they can. I hope that helps a little.

Hello, Almost welcome! We live in Al Quoz 2 which my DH calls Meydan Heights & where we are there is NOTHING. The nearest supermarket is about a 5 minute easy drive away, but I choose to go to one about 10 minutes drive away. Besides the facilities at the Meydan Hotel, as far as I know, there is nothing else here; in my area anyway. We don't have human children, so I can't speak about family life, but our furry child loves it here, there's a desert space that we walk daily with the permission of the camel farmers & it is fantastic. There is construction starting in the area we are, but so far, not so much disruption. We moved into a brand new villa so setting up internet was a real headache, but if the villa you move into is already established, it should be much easier. I'm not sure if that will put you off, or encourage you, but we quite enjoy living here, it's quiet, road access is easy & doggy walking is great. HTH :)

Good morning ladies, Does anyone know how I go about renewing my alcohol license? I really hope I don't need to apply all over again???? Hi Cruiseaddict, Ah, yes, unfortunately you will have to re-apply. But it shouldn't take so long to be approved as you will already have a file. You will normally be sent a reminder with the form, complete it, take it to your local shop with the documents they request, pay the fee & wait. You can only renew once it has expired though. HTH.

Hi Swansong, I saw an advert for a lady called Barbara who does the transfers, but I don't know if she does editing as well, I didn't ask that. She charges Dhs. 50 per hour for the transfer, but you could ask her, her number is 050 375 1434. I hope that may be helpful..

Thank you for this information, I am about to go through the same process, but a couple of questions; if you know the answers please. What happens if this is not done? Who is responsible to do this, the sponsor or the maid? Many thanks Dogwalker2, If it is not done then she couldn't able to come back or enter to Dubai. OEC is topmost requirement at Philippines Embassy in manila for exiting our country. Of course, it is her sponsor's responsibility to pay for the cost and provide the needed documents such as contract, passport copies and original, etc. Thank you Isabella18, in that case, I will see that it is done correctly!

Ladies; can anyone recommend a company that buys a whole household items all at once? Planning to leave the country on short notice and my house is fully furnished 2 bedrooms, dinning room, TV room & saloon as well as kitchen appliances. If anyone can recommend a company that comes and takes everything would be better than going through an auction for each item... Thank you:) We are looking for a stove, fridge, TV and Microwave. Do you have these items? I have a sharp fridge freezer I am selling if you're interested?

Hello ladies, Can anyone recommend a lovely afternoon tea for my visiting family ? Thanks Hello, I recently did the one at Al Qasr with my Mum, it's not the cheapest that's for sure, but she (and I) enjoyed it immensely. We drank gallons of tea & had a lovely view of the Burj al Arab. We got there early so had our pick of the tables. The chocolate fountain was the icing on the cake for me - pardon the pun.

Anyone know where would be the best place to buy Le Creuset pots? Directly from the Le Crueset France website, its' at least 30% cheaper than buying here & they have the full range.

I have a similar issue. We lost one of our dogs mid last year & I was convinced that our surviving dog was grieving more than us, but DH says I was looking for things that were not there & that we are now firmly a one dog family. I have managed to get around this by joining others I see on our daily walks - this morning, 5 dogs, 3 women, and that is divine, he gets the company I feel he needs, he gets to talk dog with others then comes home totally exhausted & sleeps all day. Happy dog, happy mum! There are a couple of public places for dogs to go now, so that may be an option?
