We had an aupair in London, a young Spanish girl. We were told that it would be impossible to sponsor her when we came here. The visa rules are quite restrictive. It was a great experience, but I fear that it is a lot easier to organize if you are based in Europe, not UAE.

Used Marooj Rotana (opposite Dubai Mall) last year, they were excellent. But I always do my own roast potatoes in any case.

I was Dr Reuter's patient in her previous job on Al Wasl and would also highly recommend her skills and bedside manner.

Don't mean to rain on your parade, but I purchased one of these hideous zapping contraptions from Boots in the UK a few years back (hubby's idea!) and after trying it a few times, it is gathering dust somewhere... it bl00dy hurts! even on the "dark skin" setting... consequently, all pain no gain. Now, inspired by positive experience of people here I should probably sell the damned thing and try it done professionally in Jumeirah! :) wish me luck.

Once she steps into the UK you may find her family status is not quite what you thought it was, which is why immigration make the procedure complex. I know it's not quite the same thing, but our neighbours made a mistake of taking their Filipino maid with them on holiday to Italy where their family lives. Imagine how shocked they were when she ran off, leaving all her possessions behind, after being with them for years, caring for newborns etc. I hope it doesn't happen to Fefi but I, too, can see why Lolacat is skeptical.

I am in exactly the same situation as Frazzled. I have an English-speaking 11 year old, just starting Y7 who needs a "bump" to excel in English. If anyone knows of an experienced and qualified secondary tutor, please let me know!
